you should cut their food into tinier pieces, baby iguana’s don’t have teeth so they have to swallow their food whole and it can hurt them if the piece of food is not cut up into a tiny enough piece

Is it viable to build a custom cage outside for an iguana? I’m moving to Florida soon and I’m planning on purchasing one. Wouldn’t need an artificial heat source? Although they’re used to Florida temperatures is it still recommended?
@GoldenEmpireProductions
@GoldenEmpireProductions 4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend 1000000%. Iguanas outgrow most cages, so if you can build a big enough one, as long as it has exposure to heat and sun rays, it will do. Especially in Florida. Although it doesn’t get very cold there in the winter, make sure there’s some sort of heating bulb or pad that makes it not get below 65 at its coldest. 75 would be the best cool temp. Also, it rains a lot. So make sure there’s protection against that although most of the time the iguana likes the rain.

He was always very curious. He always was exploring like they like to do. With age, he did get more social but also agressive. At this time, he was sweet and curious. Like a baby. Once he became older the aggression started to kick in. I believe I got this iguana from petco. As you can see he was not taken care of.

@GoldenEmpireProductions
@GoldenEmpireProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Wait a week. Don’t handle her as they get a little bit touchy if you do. Try to give her lots of space. Yes, they do need calcium. The best way to go about your situation is put your hand in her cage often during cage cleaning and feeding, but don’t touch her. After a week, slightly touch her and then try the method overtime. Hope this helps!

I need some help.i have had my baby green iguana for about a week and I'm really worried about him. He still hides all the time and he is barley eating. I have tried all different veggies and fruits. I haven't seen him eat at all but I know he ate some Romain because I put a peace next to him and came back a little later and it was gone but he is not eating like I think he should be. I pick him up at least 2 times a day and just hold and talk to him. But he still seems very scared and when I do pick him up he runs and freaks out. And that's the only time I ever see him really do anything. He is always hiding in his log or under the moss. The tank is at good temp and everything. I just don't know what to do to get him to eat and not be so scared.
@GoldenEmpireProductions
@GoldenEmpireProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Nikki, Pretty common issue. If you're sure the lighting and the temp is good, he may just need time to adjust. I would never recommend touching a reptile before 3 weeks of letting them settle. Just put the greens in its cage and only put your hand near when doing maintenance. Sometimes they just get nervous and need time. Keep in touch with me if things don't work out and we can take more serious measures.

i understand this is a taming video for your iguana, but heating pads/heating rocks are the wrong way to go. they cannot sense how hot they are getting on their stomach, leading to burns. they have a special sensory organ on their head that tells them how hot it is above them and it tells them when to bask. they cant sense heat from below, so they would end up hurting themselves and leaving burns on their bellies. good video, nice content, but please please please dont use heating pads. it'll burn the iguana without them noticing and can lead to future complications.
@GoldenEmpireProductions
@GoldenEmpireProductions 4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I just realized what you had meant. Heating pads are fine, but under the tank at low levels you’re right. This was before my tank came in so I was doing what I could as he was a present. So yeah, no you’re right. But they are fine at low levels!

@@edgonzalez6177 go check out Ontario iguanas. This is not what I would do. Touching in too many random places too quickly. Try to stay under the neck or on the back when you pet. I trained my iguana and did not do this. You have to build trust. That is the main focus. You will never have a tame iguana if they do not trust you. Picking the iguana up so many times to relocate will only create nerves so that they wont want to go near you because they dont want man handled. They are very sensitive and beautiful lizards and it takes alot of work and knowledge to do this the right way. Definitely check out Ontario Iguanas though she is on KZbin and has several. That will be your best help. The body language described in this video is not correct either. If they are scared their dewlaps do not puff out. They shrink inward toward the jaw. Aggressive and angry iguanas project their dewlaps.

I know it’s been a year, and I don’t want to check right now, but I wouldn’t recommend force feeding iguanas by agitating them until they bite unless there’s an actual problem, otherwise they might negatively associate hand feeding with being forced to eat when they’re full. I could just be being stupid but that’s just my opinion.
@GoldenEmpireProductions
@GoldenEmpireProductions 4 жыл бұрын
That’s reasonable however the main goal is to stop the biting. It shows them that we don’t care about their negative behavior. I believe I mentioned he hadn’t ate yet, so he wasn’t full for sure. You’re not rewarding them or anything, it just shows them, hey, we don’t care about your biting. We don’t care about your whips.

Hi, my name is Tere and I got my first to Guangzhou on the same 2 weeks ago.he's bought, I want to see a foot long now, and you're gonna find out that I'm in the older. The Iguana gets you will need file their nails down and the UG Wata will get about 6 feet in length, just let you know, and you'll go through changes with him or her and. I have learned. Through other people that have a gwan you go through changes with your Guana more than you will with the Iguana. Just wanted to let you know that that's cool, I really need species bye bye.

Try the method above. If hes flighty, pyt your hand in his cage often. Just dont touch. Do this for a couple of weeks to 1 month, and he should be good. If he wants to bite, hold him often. IGUANAS DO NOT TRAIN EASY. Hope these tips work!

a baby iguana should have a 40 gallon and you should be upgrading as they grow and they will eventually need AT LEAST and 6ft wide 6 ft long 6 ft tall cage the cheapest way to do it is to honestly build it yourself but a 100 gallon like you stated in the text in the beginning is way too small please don’t interpret this wrong!! i’m simple stating i’m not “coming” at you or anything!! also the tail is one of the most dangerous areas to mess with along with the mouth ( i do appreciate you adding in the video “if you aren’t comfortable touching the head it’s okay”!! thank you for adding that for people who are new to iguanas) but as i was saying the iguana could tail whip if feeling scared or frightened which can lead to stitches and deep cuts/wounds! and a adult or semi adult iguana can even break bones with their tails! i’m only saying this because i didn’t like that you told people to touch their tails because in some cases that can be extremely dangerous even with babies!! but thank you again for explaining in your video to touch them WHEREEVER you are comfortable i feel like that was helpful to people who watched this and have just gotten a iguana !! also iguana care/setup/behavior/ etc... is EXTREMELY different from other large lizards!! and i just wanted to add i understand why you felt obligated to buy from pet co or pet smart because when i walk in and see they’re animals and reptiles i feel terrible and i know most die but when we buy animals from them to “rescue” we are only causing more animals to die/ live in terrible conditions!! but again no bash towards you i understand why you would rescue from a pet store because it can be quite heart breaking! i know this comment might come off as me being rude or something but that’s not my intention at all!! (also please ignore my grammar i’m typing on my phone and i never use grammar when on my phone!!)

Takes lots of time friend, dont give up. I got 5 lizards right now(and one in incubation) and all have given me shit. Two especially right now. But if you love reptiles then you'll love the reward at the end and in return enjoy the experience of getting there. Iguanas are hard. Freaking nuts. Got two right now and got bit the other day by one, hes barley a year old. My Rhinos about 2 now and a sweetheart but when I got him he was about a year and totally nuts. My water monitor was a freak, you couldn't get close to his enclosure without him freaking out, he almost bit the tip of my finger off( blood everywhere) . A year later he gets excited and wants to crawl all over me whenever he sees me. I've had my male tegu for about 12 years and the end result is a puppy tame lizard my kids can lay with and cuddle but wasnt always that way either. My point is dont give up, it takes lots of time, patience and experience. Reptile keeping is a real hobby not just some past time. It's a awesome fun experience. But you really gotta get into it to enjoy it.

Golden Empire Productions bro I’m sorry that he died but he died from improper care rather it be before you got him or while you were trying to figure it out who knows.. his color did look better but the weight was still very under what it should be my iguana is 5 months old and is now almost as big as a year old iguana and is dog tame already all I have to do is open his cage and he crawls up my arm I haven’t done a recent video but I’m going to tomorrow. The greens needs chopped up more because they can choke and man I’m telling you spinach is one of the worst thing you can feed to a iguana especially a juvenile adults can handle it but babies need all the calcium they can get.. what type of light was that I don’t think you were achieving the correct temps and proper thermal gradient.

Ian Ragan I think the husbandry was part of the reason he passed a few months ago however people live and learn. At least he seemed to love it and care about it just not have the means to take care of it. A lot of people get them without the means or care for them whatsoever and just want one cause they look cool and don’t realize it has to be a full time hobby at the least for you, expense and time wise for them to live a long healthy life. I’m sure after this was uploaded he realized his adult iguana was going to need a cage almost half the size of his room.
