i just rescued a 6 month old iguana ( Spikelyn, because it's too soon to tell if she's a she or he?? ) he came with metal wired cage sort of like the one you have Bobo in, but i switched Spikely over to a ReptiBreeze 24x24x48 and hooked it up with some silk plants & branches and whatnot, but i think its still not holding humility the way i'd ( she ) like. she's not eating very well. =( I'm a first time Iguana mum so any thoughts//advise would be appreciated. ...also is it safe to use a heating pad on the reptibreeze set up? or should i purchase some plexiglass to stick the heating pad on??

Kit Kroon the reptibreeze should be fine as long as you’re using it with a thermostat to control the temp. Maybe consider using an overhead light/infrared heater combo for warmth..

Morning Vernon. I just ordered the Feisty Ferret cage in order to set up an enclosure for an iguana to be acquired. Could you let me know the process you used to attach the plexiglass to the sides. I will likely be getting a hatchling and I am concerned about him/her easily sneaking out. And of course, adding a bit of plexi-siding will help with temp retention.

MarksyTV might be too warm for her...I’d make sure the light is at one end of the Viv so it’s not heating the whole thing evenly(so she can choose her temp) and also I’d check the warmest point with an infrared thermometer and make sure it’s between like 90 and 105(at the warmest)

Valentine Sol Deliora so the plexi is actually a polycarbonate sheet from Lowe’s suitable for greenhouse walls/roofs so durability is high....I just measured the sheets, scored them with a sharp utility knife, and snapped them over the edge of my workbench. Then drilled 2 holes on either side of the cage bars and zip tied them to the bars near the 4 corners of the sheets. Easy peasy

How do you keep the humidity level correct in a setup like that? Right now I have my baby igg in a 40 gal tank, and using a reptile humidifier for the correct humidity and I have to keep it flowing relatively fast to keep it at 70% humid level. Is it, as they get older they don't need as much humidity or is it just exaggerated the amount of humidity needed?

I couldn’t get him to eat or drink.. or be a regular acting iguana from what I’m able to see online (ps animal was returned and do not have future plans shopping for iguanas in a petco)

@1atlpamvk4 жыл бұрын
Definitely isn't.. iguanas grow very rapidly an the more you swap them out from enclosure to enclosure, the more stress an less trust you have with them. They're very particular animals. The issue I've seen in this vid was he definitely should have fully set up that enclosure before swapping him out. That would of helped with the hard earned trust he developed with the little guy cause it's hard to reestablish. The one he swapped him into (definitely dont use a ferret cage though, just the dimensions I'm referring to) is a more adequate starter size.
@RippingStars4 жыл бұрын
No no no. Iguanas can get up to 7 feet long and even a baby needs a LOT of space. This is way to small of a cage for this poor guy

Hey you probably won't respond but I need help they gave me a baby green iguana and I have nothing for it can u list things that are needed? I've searched but it's confusing
@beararmstactical73433 жыл бұрын
Jocelynn Acosta hi!! Grab a UVB light from Acadia for uvb basking, a 100w incandescent bulb for heat basking, Repashy supercal noD for dusting food, nice big water bowl that he can soak in if needed, a pump sprayer for misting(Make sure it’s food safe), The biggest enclosure you can afford, and some Natural or fake sturdy branches for him to bask on. I like to set up the heat basking and UVB basking in separate locations on the top of the enclosure so he can use both of them independently. a nice big enclosure is also key so he can thermal regulate and go where temperature is most comfortable for him. The Ranchers should allow him to get close enough to the lights that he can stay warm but not so close that he could get burned. Also remember the UVB will not penetrate glass so there needs to be a screen top or an opening of Some kind. Hope that helps!

This will absolutely not suffice. That poor iguana shouldn't even be put in that cage at his age, adult iguanas need an 8 ft by 7 ft by 6 ft enclosure which is very large. Iguanas are not a beginner reptile and they are not nice the can get up to 6-7 feet long
