mum life is buying cute bowls of all sorts and then giving your baby the food directly on their clean little highchair anyway because that's where it'll end up.... I love your ideas and your explanations as to why you're giving what. My first introduction to peanut butter was when I was like twenty lol (not peanuts tho) and we also don't typically cook anything with sweet potato where I live but I love using avocado... my own mother did this thing where she made everything for us kids whole grain and homemade (all the bread, all the pasta dough, everything lmao) and I absolutely cannot do that and I know it's super irrational to feel guilt about that because it's such an extra thing to do and nobody does it lmao but that's mum guilt for you.... I love all these options you have here and that everything is so healthy and balanced. I was so anxious about really dry food like toast at the beginning xD but my baby loves it... sending you and your entire family lots of love xx

For foods that are slippery; you can coat them in chia seeds, flax seeds, etc. This helps baby with holding the food item
@the_light_writer3 жыл бұрын
It seems like chia & flax seeds would be difficult for a 6-8 month old to digest, no?
@fourniercynthia79083 жыл бұрын
@@the_light_writer as long as they arent dry it is fine around 6-7 month. No an excessive amount just enough so it doesnt glide everywhere

Such a helpful video! I’m starting BLW in a month and so excited! Question regarding the sweet potatoes. To my understanding salt limitation is important but it’s actually recommended to add spices during BLW rather than leaving foods “plain”?

My parents introduced me to seafood when was was very young. I’ve always been allergic since day one. Some allergens are just unavoidable. Sometimes I wonder if scientists are still studying if giving babies more diverse food options will prevent allergies because here I am today as an adult with too many allergies to count and my parents let me try so many different kinds of foods growing up.
@63dkw3 жыл бұрын
You are just unlucky to have allergies. They tried to withhold allergen foods until a later age and the allergies in kids skyrocketed, so that is why they have gone back to how it originally was.

Very informative video. My little one is almost 6 months old, and we are planning on starting solids once he is sitting up better. Did you discuss the option of baby-led weaning with your pediatrician ? My pediatrician just gave us a handout at the 4 month appointment, with traditional puree style approach. There wasn't much room for questions or suggestions, but after doing some research, I find that I really would like to do a BLW or combined approach.
@MeganAcuna3 жыл бұрын
We did! I definitely think finding a pediatrician who listens to your questions and isn’t too “strict” with how they think you should parent (besides safety things of course) is so important! You deserve that support!

Okay, this could not have come at a more perfect time! We start BLW with our son Greyson next month 🙏🏻 Thank you so much for sharing this video! I’m saving it as a reference for sure ☺️ I have a question for you about baby oatmeal! We just started the baby oatmeal mixed with formula and Greyson is not a fan 🙈 We tried it in a bowl and a bottle, but we think because it is unfamiliar to him he is just unsure of it altogether. When we feed him he sits on my lap because he is too small for his high chair just yet, but do you think if we put him in a Bumbo or try his activity center we will have more success with the oatmeal? We will definitely be giving him solids in his high chair next month when we start those, but I’m wondering if maybe we should just go ahead and get him into a routine of sitting in his Bumbo or his own little area now to prepare for that? Thank you in advance, Megan 🤗

I’m not an expert by any means but I’ve noticed when I’m holding Rowan and he’s getting something that’s not breastfeeding he gets confused/frustrated! Maybe try having your husband hold him and see if that helps!

@63dkw3 жыл бұрын
Most of the time the baby is only gagging, which is not choking. If a parent intervenes whilst a child is gagging (which is safe, as they are just regurgitating the food), they can actually cause the child to choke . Learning the difference will really help your anxiety. Gagging needs to be a learnt skill, as it is something that we all need to learn in life. Also doing a Led weaning course and a CPR course will also help subdue fears. It is definitely a great way to feed. My granddaughter was drinking from an open cup at 7 months of age and spoon feeding herself.

The avocado, I left half the peel on and she ripped a little piece of it off and choked on it 😭 thankfully knowing baby cpr, I was able to dislodge it but it was only at the back of her mouth. So beware yall! I only give without the peel now bc of this particular instance.
