3:20 That kid was petrified!! I love how the females don't give a damn where the babies came from, how old they are, how scared they are, etc. They approach and just wanna comfort those orphaned babies and wants to love and cuddle them to death. So sweet. Those maternal instincts run DEEP, don't they. Just awesome. Love your guys' videos. Always look forward to new ones. Thank you for your channel and for helping these intriguing animals that wouldn't have a future otherwise. Very commendable work, all of you, total Heros!

I agree. I never would have even known what the lives of babies in the care of idiot humans was like and how unhealthy the whole situation was. Never would have known anything about it, or how the majority of day old/week old, babies actually become available for human "mothers" to take possession of. It's sickening. So, I wanna thank everyone involved as well. Without your work, I never would have been exposed to the daily fight between these animals and human poachers, or joined the difficult effort to educate more people and prevent this kind of thing from occurring in the future. Many thanks to everyone!

Catching up on some episodes I'd unintentionally skipped... I think that was one of the most adorable things I've seen in a while, the lipsmacking and then how she just went right in for the cuddle like she'd done it 100 times before. That was so fast! Was she probing for milk there? A few minutes later when mom moved and was sitting down it looked like she was doing it again, trying to be subtle like... they are smart little ones sometimes! ---- Q: The noise that Vera is making most of the time... I still don't get what that sound means.. and does it mean different things depending on how intense/loud they're doing it? Or when it's more rapid vs. spread out?

FilmerOfBobcats if all goes right the moms don’t go back out for a long time. But I’d say it doesn’t matter who is in or out, there are times when a baby will cry no matter what. But it’s hardest for those who are most humanized.

Oh Vera, my dear sweet Vera, I know that there is wild monkey in that tiny little body of yours just screaming to get out! Forgive me, but I hope there will not be anymore babies going into the maximum security kennel, I know they will fix this situation with tarps or whatever they put their minds to. I may not understand y'alls set up there but I feel so bad for these babies! I am curious if they will go with the same foster mothers or different ones also how they will react towards different foster mothers because of the bandit Saav war. Could it have possibly been the foster mothers that injured the babies? Could the bandits have pulled the babies through the chicken wire? Those Bandits! I hope it wasn't the foster mothers as form of projective aggression toward the bandits? I seriously want to doubt that, but we know it is possibility. I am so sad that the babies where injured cuz it throws a wrench in their recovery. I am sure everyone there is also disappointed because of the set back. Hey just keep your heads up and nature will take its course with your help of course! Thank you all at The VMF from the bottom of my broken heart!

@rentechpad5 жыл бұрын
Edgar and Cookie might have been nervous but that foster mom was a genius at making the right moves. One of the calmest introduction I have ever seen - more like when an distantly related monkey suddenly shows up and aftera few minutes everyone is like 'oh yeah we know you' both Cookie and Edgar seemed like after a bit she was just where she belonged and they were not freaking out at first touch it appears ..she played that who get them when one is distracted routine well so that one was not likely to panic the other. Its interesting that she went for the male first instead of the female so you have to wonder if it was really about gender or just about opportunity. I have seen this happen before when a potential adopter will wait until the babies are apart and one is distracted eating or nursing and go for the one she wants, and you know it the distinct choice she is making as the same scenario was set up but the participants reversed and the adopter simply sat it out and waiting until they changed spots. then other times it seems like as soon as one is out of the picture a adopter will go for whatever one is available. Maybe it depends on the Mom .. "I just want a baby so I will get my hands on the first one I can" or "I have a specific type of baby I am looking to adopt so I will bide my time.". Its time like this when you can be pretty impressed by just how much complex though and actual plotting is going on. We have actually has time when its [pretty evident that the adopters showing interest decide among themselves just whoo is getting a chance, or even who is getting who before a door is even opened. And we can open up for one, thinking we are making the best pick, only to have the adopters flip over each other and send in one we thought would be the best case scenario. They are not always right and sometimes their choices through the fence don't [pan out at all. We did have one interesting time when we had abandoned twins or at least we got 2 newborns so young that the cord were not complete dry with the report they were with a dead mother. They attracted a great deal of attention from moms without babies but when we started trying to let moms in they all backed away from the door until a mom who never adopted before and whole a decent rank in the roupe form what we could tell was a bit of a introverted female to the point of being shy (hard to know ho she ranked as high as she did but the other monkeys seem to really love her). Outside the door the other females kept jostling her to the door and we were wondering if they actually wanted her to have a first chance - and we were not real hopeful as these two rally acted like twins and we actually didn't see them taking well to separate mothers - although they really had no choice in the long run. We had had several moms that had adopted more than one at at a time - often a bit older and not as needy but we were hopeful. Every time we tried to let a female we thought would be good in she would back away and they would jostle this other female to the door. Finally as she was against the door we gave in and opened the door, and actually left in open opening an experienced mom or two would follow her but no one did. this shy female went in and immediately went to an upper corner and hid under a tarp and we were like 'oh this is not good". It actually turned out perfectly as both babies ended up getting over being freaked by someone that was totally more interested in a tarp tent then in them and they soon started approaching er and getting in her face. Although some other females came and went. seeming to demonstrate some things like bottom checking. Within within about 72 hours shy female was beautifully handling two babies like she had been doing it forever. Once out in the troupe we saw her getting a lot of help from other females as two babies that young can be a job but she was a pretty amazing mother except for her quirk of never letting then go alone to the feeding cage. She would go with then and sit on the cage and monitor them and when they were done round then up and take them back into the woods. Maybe her way of feeling like she was feeding them too :)
