This little guy is a fighter, such spirit and determination and you can see how pleased he is exploring his environment and wonderful mom Jingga keeping a watchful eye while he explores. He is using both of his legs...and startet real climbing.Even Jinga is a little afraid...she will be satisfied to see what he can do after his surgery. Start to climb at the lower area until he is strong enough, to take the second step. I love to see this little wonder❤

But she is still not a good mother. She must have him near by her and orangutans normally never let their offsprings behind on the floor. He is doeing better, but it is not a good childhood. Never enough food, never enough cuddling and warmth.

It always amazes me how strong these little mites are. It seems they can hold really tight before they can support their heads. As for the way their loving Mums cart them around by a leg or an arm all I can say is you couldn't treat a human baby like that. Love them. M

I have seen other orangutans and gorillas carry their babies on a leg. In addition, Jingga grips Jarang with her toe to make sure he is secure. I think she realized very early that he couldn’t cling onto her fur very well.

@@voronforest8316 I’m not sure about that….Look to Summer..she cradled Rufus in one arm until he has 4 or 5 months. She’s older and wasn’t restless the way Jingga was, just kept her baby tucked under her arm all the time and didn’t fly around the apparatus with a baby on her foot. That’s a huge difference. I think the zoo keepers have done really great work with her, which is what I wished for last Christmas…
