Man, I’ve followed you since the beginning because you remind me so much of myself and my journey to motherhood! I have to say I respectfully disagree about the Muslin swaddles! I have two and three year old boys and we STILL use our Muslin swaddles on a daily basis! They always have two or three out to put on top of their pikler triangle to turn into a play fort and use them in so many other ways in their play. (Play silks also accomplish this, but I just love how it’s a new and continued use of their swaddles from babyhood.) I think your experience with them does have a lot to do with the way the world has been lately since they help so much with travel, but I do think you’ll see their longetevity soon. They’re something I don’t mind having out and about since they are beautiful and flow with our home. In baby world, I always had one in the diaper bag for a nursing cover, burp cloth, another layer for the car seat or stroller, or yes, as a cover for the car seat but that was probably the way I used them the least. My two year old uses one as a light layer for naps and we still always travel with one for this. So for me, they really are a must. I hope he enjoys them as he grows into toddlerhood! (Future mamas, I think 10 is probably a good amount. Little Unicorn is my favorite brand for their stretch. I literally have 20 because we would double up two swaddles every night and then they would get peed through and that meant two went directly in the dirty clothes. We’d need clean ones out for naps and to do it all again, so 10 gives you some breathing room unless you go the sleep sack route, and in that case maybe get 3 or 4. You’d want a sleep sack with “hands in” for the newborn stage and then the next size up to be “hands out” for when they are able to start flipping over on their own. Make sure these fit the type of weather that your city will be having at the time they are that age. Having 3-4 muslin swaddles in addition to those two sleep sacks would be helpful for multi-use. I just feel like only having the Muslin swaddles truly simplifies it because you can double up for winter and swaddle hands in or hands out at the different stages. Sorry for the long comment, but I really wish someone had broken it down like that to me.) I completely agree about the double stroller! We should have gotten it from the beginning as well!

I definitely love my owlet. I got it used for free from a friend of mine. And it has already helped save my babies life. She’s almost 9 months old but at 6 months it went off red with low oxygen I ran into her her picked her up and she wasn’t breathing at all. I had to give my 6 month old cpr. Worst day of my life. But I thank God everyday he let me keep her!! Also I highly recommend getting certified in baby cpr.

@@baconettam.8122 no. I took her to the ER to have her checked out. They said stuff like this just happens. She a perfectly healthy baby and nothing was in her crib with her. They said it’s an unexplained event. I honestly feel if I didn’t have that sock that I would have woke up that morning without a baby 😭😭

I had to formula feed my daughter... Even exclusively bottle feeding, you don’t need 10 bottles. You really only need two. It’s SSSSOOOOOO much easier to have two bottles to wash (and just wash them frequently) then to have a pile of 10 bottles to wash. Trust me, I promise you it’s so much easier and makes your home so much more peaceful! 🥰

I watched someone else’s baby organizing video the other day and she had like 10 different sized bottles, 10 different brands and like 10 of each of those…… and literally filled a two door cabinet with just…….. bottles. 😳 For one baby……. must have been her first rodeo 😂

Also Evenflo Gold Pivot Xpand is a modular single to double travel system stroller that’s half the price but almost exactly the same as the Uppababy as well. The car seat itself is pretty amazing and comes with a Sensorsafe technology that connects to your vehicle to let you know if your baby is left in the car or if the car seat is unbuckled 👍🏼

I loved my owlet we got it new but it only lasted a year and then it stopped reading! at that point my son didn't need it anymore so we got rid of it but plan on getting a new one with our next baby

I think you should use the muslin swaddle‘s as burp cloths. I think it’s more bang for your buck when use that way. Because traditional birth cloths are usually too small to catch any spit up or anything.

A baby walker, a bassinet (or maybe just the one I got), bottles on top of bottles, a diaper Genie (they smell soooo bad!), a second diaper bag, a crib mobile, teethers/pacifiers/ soothers, baby silverware, any baby clothes with snaps or without feet/mittens built in, baby mittens, baby socks, too many swaddles, bibs, burp clothes, pampers swadlers (the mesh was bad for my baby's skin), and a high chair(hardly used and was quickly switched out for a booster seat at the table)...geez, I didn't realize how many things we got that were just impractical or didn't work for us!

Teethers are great, but often you don't need them until bubs is around 9 months - 12 months. Useless for newborns for sure!

I personally love the owelet sock because I use it to view how my baby slept throughout the night. Especially now that he’s in his own room.

I love the owelt sleep sock. I recommend it to everyone. It's pricey but puts my mind at ease. Good to know about the sensor, I had no idea!

Love this! ( not pregnant but my husband and I have started talking about starting a family and God willing we’ll try later this year). Definitely going to invest in a convertible double troller right away!! I’ve heard many moms say they wish they did that :)

I love the muslin swaddles but not for swaddling.. we used it t cover the car seats, used it to lay on the chair before putting baby down, she’s two now and she uses it as her blanket. U only need 1 4pk. Don’t go crazy. And use receiving blankets for burp clothes. Can’t go wrong with oxo containers because the last forever. I stored my purees in breast milk storage bags. So it was easy to defrost.

I just use my muslin swaddles as burp cloths. I did not hear enough about velcro swaddles when I was pregnant, and then ended up needing to go to the store after we brought him home and realized they were wayyyy better. I struggled breastfeeding so I never used my boppy, but even if we were successful, I think I would've struggled to use it because I am plus size and it didn't fit comfortably around me. I agree with you on the diaper bag. I got a gender neutral one that both of us could carry, and my husband has never carried it once 🙄 I wish I just got a fashionable one for me. Good video! I bet these videos are really helpful for soon-to-be mamas

A agree with the boppy! I do breastfeed and formula feed both, but I’m only like 135 lbs and it doesn’t fit around me either 😂 idk what kinda woman just gave birth that this fits around but it’s just in the way really. I’m glad I got it used off marketplace and didn’t pay 40$ for it new lol

Same of the Muslin swaddles and double stroller. I used the swaddles for a light blanket in the summer months but other than that never used it. I got a single price for my first because the price for the doubles seemed crazy but now that I need the double I really wish I would have bought it the first time around!

We loved our muslin swaddles. We used them for everything. Light blankets when it was hot, shade covers, used for a quick diaper change, emergency burp cloths cos sometimes you fly through them. We prob didn’t need all the ones we had, but they were very useful for us. We also did love our ring slings. My hubby was all about it. I agree there’s a learning curve and not all carriers are comfy for all mamas so baby’s wearing groups are awesome to go try before you buy.

Totally agree with the muslin swaddle fiasco haha, i also bought so many and my little dude is now only a few days old but we are all loving the velcro swaddles so much more - heaps easier and quicker to use and he hasn't yet busted out of them yet. Great suggestions.

Ring slings have such a learning curve! We don’t use ours as much as I thought we would either. I definitely regret the Topponcino, such an expensive padded mat, and specific newborn cloth diapers we never ended up using. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I bought one muslin swaddle with my son and hated it literally would only use it as a last resort, it has so stretch to it so babies can get out of them so easily! I LOVED the stretchy bamboo swaddles, I got one from loulou and company and that's the one I gravitated towards most of the time

Next time buy Cybex baby gear, nicer and better than the uppa baby by far. Im a mom of 6 and was always on the go when my kids were little. I’m getting my first granddaughter anyday now and I spent hours looking at all the strollers and carseats as I wanted the very best without spending 1000 plus on a stroller. Cybex took the cake, although still expensive it’s better quality and functionality than uppa baby ever thought of being. I went into it thinking if upper baby is really that much better and that nice I’ll spend the money and get her that but it wasn’t the Cybex was so much better quality than upper baby the car seat blows my mind and it’s safety features and the best part is on the car seat the sunshade comes all the way down to cover baby completely all the way down to babies knees and all the way back up but it doesn’t hang off the back of the car seat it goes into the car seat. I spent about 800 for both the carseat and stroller in the stroller is convertible to hold two babies. The other one that I looked at was the Nuna And it to was really nice very comparable to Cybex but Cybex still beat them a little bit in price so that’s what I went with and again the car seat sunshade hangs off the back of the car seat pain in the butt when you’re on the go

Also the Cybex car seat has a safety feature it has his little wing to turn out to the side so if you were ever in a side and packed collision it would help protect baby and it has the foot that goes down to the floor of the car. Anybody who’s on a more of a budget I would recommend getting Graco I always had very good luck with Grayco when I was raising my kids they do what they’re supposed to do they have a lot of features however I didn’t buy Grayco because of the enormous amount of plastic parts in plastic wheels I don’t do plastic wheels not even on my dog stroller. And I totally get why you like the maxi cosi It’s the first one my daughter was drawn to because it had this really pretty cream fabric and leather handlebars but Cybex also has leather handlebars

@@MeganAcuna yes we looked at that as well, she liked the cream color but didn’t care for the wheels on the stroller and the sunshade wasn’t even close to Cybex. Not saying maxi cosi isn’t nice either though. European brands are better all the way around. We live in New Mexico so needed the stroller to have good traction so wheels were really important. I also liked the nuna gear. But loved the side impact arms on the Cybex. If you have another baby and need to purchase a new seat I would definitely check them out. Also the newborn insert is amazing now that she’s had baby she lays flat but at a slight incline so we don’t have to worry about her head going forward. When she had her the nurses were all checking her seat out and so impressed too.

Muslin swaddles were so clutch for me 😅 They're more breathable than any of the velcro ones and I spent a lot of time outside taking walks with my daughter. And somehow I could get her secured in one of those better than the velcro ones-my husband did all the velcro swaddling 🤷🏼‍♀️ Don't forget about clothing-i wouldn't stock up too much on any specific size for any season! If baby is small, they may stay in the lower size range for longer and larger babies will need a size up. I was planning to buy ahead a bit and glad I didnt because we end up moving out of sizes about 2 months later (ie just leaving 9 month old clothes at 11 months). So I wouldve had a lot of wasted spring clothing if I bought it all in 9-12 month already!

I didn’t use muslins either, the cloths or the swaddles. I got the 6 layered burp cloths for spit up/dribble as they are thicker so used them more, muslins are too thin. The blanket i used once in 10 months when it was really hot but got slightly breezy in the evening, never used it as a swaddle. Ive been thinking about our stroller too since talking about having a second child. I’m not buying a third one. We already have a travel system and then we bought a lightweight stroller to go on holiday as our travel system was too heavy and bulky for travelling so we’ll just use the TS with either the pram or car seat attachment for the new baby and the stroller for the older one. I just won’t be able to go out alone with both of them but i doubt i will anyway, if I really need to then we have a baby wrap and carrier too.

My mom also got my older brother an antique high chair, that thing was a safety hazard. It worked okay for my brother even if the table got stuck sometimes, but by the time I came along the table part would slide off at the slightest touch. My mom was so sad, they couldn't even sell it so I think it went into the pile for out fire pit :')

Megan I find maxicosi have issues opening closing try wd40. I also bought maxicosi but Lila duo. I’m actually changing to a single stroller figure by the time my son is 2 or so he can just ride on a board behind the stroller. The duo are great but have a lot of negatives too

lol i dont understand those baby "carriers" that are basically just an expensive piece of fabric that you wrap your baby in when you can do it cheaper with just a long, wide scarf. i understand that baby carriers that you strap your baby in but not that you wrap your baby in

I regret buying more than one baby carrier. I bought one intended for my husband and failed to research properly and he can't wear it on his back for hikes this summer. I have a Moby wrap for the minimal amount of baby wearing I did. I'm guessing I'll baby wear more when I have another baby since I'll need to be hands free more and I'm really glad I had it for when I needed it, but I used the second one once and didn't even like it. We're hoping to use baby wearing for walks once we have a second until they're big enough for a wagon then get a wagon for them.

I'm so glad we decided not to get too many of these. We did get some large basic swaddles but only 2 so we could try them out. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and got basically everything ready. I'm just glad we didn't waste a bunch of money on those items. Although we are pretty sure we will have this baby girl and just won't have another baby, I still think it's a great feature that our stroller could be converted, just in case we change our minds. It's such a big purchase and I'd hate to spend a thousand euros on something that we might have to rebuy in a few years (but probably not 😅).

It's hard to know what you're going to like or what you're going to want to use so I definitely agree that borrowing things from Friends to get a feel for it is a great idea just to see if your baby even likes it. I also buy everything used from Marketplace because I save a lot of money that way and if it's something that doesn't work then I didn't spend $60 on it

Thanks for the video- I hadn't gotten a single one of these items yay! Dont be to hard on yourself about the double stroller thing. In my experience of strollers they dont last longer than 2-3 years anyway as tyres wear out etc. So if you are not planning on another child within that time frame, I personally would stick with the single stroller anyway

I love ring slings but I wouldn't have it as my only carrier. Its definitely best if you want to use carriers to try and find a local babywearing group to try some out (after quarantine obviously)

I didn't have most of what you put on your list interestingly enough! We are currently using some of the muslin swaddles now that the weather is getting hot to keep the sun off her, but I agree with what you said about using them for swaddles! Although I love our Chicco travel set, I wish we would have upgraded to a stroller with better wheels and shocks. Even just going on walks on a mostly paved trail bounces my 6 month old around!

Im an RN and agree they are NOT good swaddle blankets. Also good to know on the baby food Tupperware cus I have been debating buying it now that my girl is 6 months.

The owlet sock & camera is amazing. It gave us so much peace of mind. She was diagnosed with RAD so I was always checking on her breathing. I bought it off the market place and it was still the the box brand new! But once my girl learned how to remove the sock, it eventually broke from her teething on it 🤦‍♀️ i still use the camera for her room though! & she’ll be 2 in July

The owlet is the best purchase I have ever made. We bought new and for both of my kids. We didn’t like the muslin swaddle either. We used shoes with my first but not with my second. We didn’t get as many bottles with my first used all of them. My second baby we have a TON of bottles and my baby is exclusively breastfeeding. We tried a ton of different carriers also. We prefer the ergo baby and this was the case for both of my kids. We ended up with four diaper bags and only used one. A backpack diaper bag. We thought of a stroller for future children but still got a single and it’s a good thing. We struggled with loss and infertility. My oldest is 4.
