Hi everyone, thank you for your kind words about this video! To answer the most common question asked below: after an extensive search of the attic, no signs of any additional babies were found. It is easy to confuse the sounds of one baby with the sounds of multiple babies because of their unique chittering. Therefore it is possible that this was the only baby in the litter from the start.

So glad no dead babies were found! And that the one you rescued got a surrogate mama! Your company does such good and caring work! I can't believe the callousness of the other company.
@jasonw81245 жыл бұрын
When cutting into drywall, I have found that a "multi-tool" with a drywall blade is much safer way of opening up drywall. Much more difficult to damage wiring and plumbing, and wouldn't hurt a furry creature stuck behind a wall. Maybe something to consider adding to the arsenal.

My heart was breaking and I really wanted to know about the others!!! I’m like.... how can they end it like this 🤷♀️ I wish the name of the other company could b told. That upsets me so much, they shouldn’t get any business at all. 😡

Thank you for saving this little baby, so glad a surrogate mom was found for it! We feed the local raccoons in our backyard and the variations in litter sizes is pretty amazing. Invariably there is at least one mama with just one baby, sometimes a couple of singles, but most often they have 3-4. Think the largest litter we've seen so far is 5 babies. I love the little chirp the babies make when communicating with their mamas. Because our winters are relatively mild there are pretty much 2 seasons we see litters, Spring and Autumn. We have oppossum too, have had to rescue babies from our spa before. We also have skunks but never get to see the babies when they're truly tiny. Have one denning in a side shed that the door warped on. Figure will wait for Spring and warmer temps/drier conditions before we attempt an eviction 🙂 Thank you for being so compassionate and kind with wildlife!

This is what I like about you guys. You aren't exterminators, your re-homers. You love animals of all shapes and sizes, and treat them with respect. You guys are the best.
@piratekit39412 жыл бұрын
These guys are unique, I'm pretty sure most of the removalists here do NOT save the babies. If I ever need to hire someone to remove raccoons from my house, that is definitely going to be one of the questions I ask, and I'm not going to hire anyone who doesn't remove the babies too.
@sarahbrown53735 жыл бұрын
I imagine that she's really wishing she had called you sooner. That mess on her roof was horrible. You do far better work and you care about the animals. It's a shame about the other babies, but falling to the floor level saved the other one. It would have been very hot in the attic. I'm so glad that a surrogate mother was found. This is the kind of rescue I look for with this channel. This is why I follow you.

Hi Sarah, the situation that unfolded at this house prior to when we arrived was very unfortunate. Sadly, there are many companies out there that do not hold the animal's lives in high regard. Thank you so much for the kind words about my company. I appreciate it!

@nopandakit80515 жыл бұрын
In this age of social media, the first company has to not give a damn about anything to do business like this. I guarantee they have other complaints against them, and they don't care. I bet they hope that most people don't check them out before they are called. The job they did on that roof door is ridiculously bad! I could do better than that, and I know very little about construction. But then, I've got common sense and care for animals and humans, which they obviously don't. Thanks so much to Gates for sharing the right way to do business and to care for animals! You guys are awesome!

Glad someone else also mentioned the Pedialyte. I believe it can be beneficial for all mammals that are starved and/or dehydrated. I had mice that came in my house this winter and nested in the warming drawer of my oven. They must have been going in and out through the hole around the gas pipe or something because they never seemed to come into the house with one exception. I found that they had somehow been able to climb UP the smooth metal tube going into my vacuum cleaner, which was full of small downy feathers from my parrot moulting. They were pushing big mounds of feathers back up the rubber part of the vacuum tube then down the metal part and getting them across to the oven for their nest. It was so fascinating wondering just HOW they managed that, that I almost put off getting them moved, but was afraid they would scare the parrot (which they had already done, but I didn't know it was mice) and his thrashing might cause him to break a blood feather with serious consequences. Anyway, I phoned the "pest" company that has the contract for our condo development - AND THEY DON'T HAVE ANY LIVE TRAPS - they just use poison or glue boards. I was disgusted so went out and got a live trap and have re-homed a sweet mouse couple. So glad there are folks like Gates out there.

I had a family of racoons evicted recently and the racoon specialist blew us off once we told him it was a litter of pups in our floor. Had to make a few holes and I put buckets with some rags under the holes. Checked on them the next day and we found 4 babies in the buckets, one was on the concrete slab and got real cold but we wrapped him up and kept him warm he started to move around . The hard part after that was finding somebody to take the pups, every place I called said they would have to be put down. I ended up getting a hotline for wildlife rescue from a vet and found a foster family for the puppos.

Very pleased that the home owner was concerned for the babies. Too bad the others were lost. That one-way door is an awful idea. It just separates the babies from their life source. My husband had to take apart (and dig through ground rocks) to release a baby raccoon from our downspout of our house. The baby was much bigger than the one in this video. He had to leave for work and told me not to touch it because I'd get hurt. But the baby had no energy to climb out only about 6 inches from the pipe she was in. I just finally grabbed her by the scruff and held her in a towel until the afternoon, and then we took the dogs for a walk and left her in a towel in a box near where she had been and the mother came back for her. Mother had been chewing on the downspout all night, and that is how we realized what the problem was. They are the sweetest babies. That little one in the video was tough though, for its age!
