Baby Seal Attacks Rescuer - Twice!

Everybody is laughing when a cute little seal pup "attacks" Antoine, seemingly to help his seal friend who is already captured in the net. But even baby seals have sharp teeth and Wally has to push him away as he makes a second attempt to interrupt the rescue.
It's an action packed rescue run. Three seals get rid of their unwanted rubbish necklaces: a piece of rope, a gasket, and a ball of fishing line. All entanglements are fresh, nobody shows any sign of injury yet, and the rescuers can go off to look for even more animals in need. 🦭

Naude has a very good point at the end with the mystery loop. He's giving the benefit of the doubt to the fisherman, the entanglement wasn't intentional

Thank you very much 🙏 Yes we do not believe that seal entanglements are caused on purpose by human beings, only by negligence. Seals are very playful and play with anything they can find, like children. They investigate everything they can find with their mouths and whiskers. Due to the seal's body shape, anything draped over the head too large to fit over their shoulders ends up stuck just there. Fishing gear is designed to be invisible under water, making it even more likely to end up on a seal or other marine animal. Their fur is also extremely dense and facing back towards their tail to make them more streamlined in the water which also prevents entanglements from easily traveling back up and over the seals head again.

Great to see the team still at it. I am in awe of their athleticism, their strength, patience, cooperation and sense of humour. This is real teamwork, no egos involved, sharing ideas and caring for each other as they care for our beautiful sea creatures. I don't know if anyone is doing this kind of thing in Australia, but the whole world could really learn from these men, (and Katya). Education is key, especially in developing countries without much environmental care and cultural differences about animals not feeling pain. I think that is the most aggressive a pup has been towards you guys when he/she wasn't the one being caught. That pup and the one you caught must have been like family or something for it to keep attacking. I love the way the baby was just flipped around to change directions when it attacked. They are light now but in a few months they don't flip so easily. 3 great saves OCN !!!!

Watching these reminds me of the story of the man walking the beach throwing starfish into the water left behind at low tide. Someone says to him “you can’t possibly think this is making a difference.” As the man picks up a starfish and tosses it into the water he replies “made a difference for that one”. Every one of these beautiful creatures you save is worth it. Thank you for all that you do. When I am able to financially, I am going to do what I can to support your work. I'm SO glad there were no wounds inflicted from any of these entanglements ... the rubber gasket looked like it was being peeled out of that poor seal's neck, not just the fur. Thank you, OCN team, for being there to remove ANY and EVERY kind of horrible product these precious creatures become entrapped in. Absolute HEROES! ❤
