Each child is different and this makes it difficult to provide accurate advice in KZbin comments. We recommend you contact your local Health Visiting service to discuss specific questions you may have. If you live in Staffordshire, further information is available on our website www.mpft.nhs.uk/services/health-visiting-and-school-nursing

Margerine, baby cereals, rice, jeeeez might as well start them off with Mcdonalds! NHS with the typical outdated food groups. Grass fed meat, fish and vegetables are best!

I started at 4 months properly, but he had some at 3 just to test the waters. He can sit up, hold his head and was reaching for my food so i started even though the guidance is 6 months. He held the spoon the other day and was feeding himself which was adorable, but i can barely get a health visitor out to see him of i have concerns so ive just been led by the baby

NHS recommend margarine for babies as a part of a healthy diet??
@mpftnhs

@Asta Smiles To meet the high energy/calorie requirements of a growing child we recommend the full-fat varieties of margarines (unless the child is overweight); it is also a good source of fat-soluble vitamins, particularly vitamin D. Margarine should only be a small component of a healthy diet, not eaten in excessive amounts. There was a historical concern with trans-fats being present in margarine but, with reference to the British Heart Foundation, trans-fats are not likely to be found in UK margarine www.bhf.org.uk/what-we-do/news-from-the-bhf/news-archive/2015/august/our-advice-on-fats

Odd, isn't it.. Margarine is a good source of fat, yeah, but it's also a good source of cancer

Our health visitor has told us to stop giving our 8 month old 4 bottles a day and give only 2 bottles a day and 3 meals, even though she doesn't eat much during her meals. I am super concerned about this advice, is it correct?

Hello Nuna, it’s difficult to give advice in KZbin comment as each child is individual. Please contact your local Health Visiting service to discuss further, or our 0-19 Hubs if you live in Staffordshire. www.mpft.nhs.uk/services/health-visiting-and-school-nursing

You know your child better than any official who comes for a few hours a week. If your baby isn't eating the meals then surely they need the bottles, at least until they pick up on the food side? Mums really do know their babies best, trust your instinct! X

Thanks for the very informative video. Is it ok to start weaning a few weeks (2 weeks to be exact) after the baby turns 6 months? This is mainly due to the fact that we will be traveling.

Hello, moving your little one onto solids is an exciting time. Mealtimes will inevitably get messy, but this messy exploration stimulates your child's brain, they will be learning how food feels, smells and tastes. Making mealtimes fun means your child learns new skills which supports their development. To help minimise the mess you can use a floor covering and a coverall bib with long sleeves. You can find out more about weaning at www.nhs.uk/start4life/weaning/ and www.firststepsnutrition.org/
