And a great example of what an Aussie USED to be. Self-deprecating, honest, down-to-earth, funny. I'm lucky I'm old enough to have known Australians like that. These days, most Aussies are clones of the world's woke. I haven't watched this for a while, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are at least 6 things in it that "should" be cancelled.

@@BabyFaceBren most people I know are pretty easy going and very honest … the only people I see going around so uptight and acting like a whiny horses ass all the time are those of you who constantly use a meaningless term like “woke” un-ironically. You can’t go a single day without making everything a political gripe. It’s obnoxious.

Rod Taylor crafted his life into a masterpiece, all the way from Australia to Hollywood. Being an Australian, you can expect him to be down to earth and humble, no airs-and-graces.

The Time Machine is one of my favourites and I truly believe it is one of the greatest movies ever made, real holiwood magic at it best with a great writer's story and no doubt screen play also, and so so underrated but its still on TV regularly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon which is true of many which are now all but irrelevant. Real magic! And BTW I couldn't imagine any other actor in it: it is Rod Taylors part and movie through and through!! Kind of ironic how a movie about time travel is one of very few that actually stands the test of time haha!

A truly Great and economy use of special effects ! Unlike today with much more advanced technology but rarely any story content .as we have seen time and time agin flops in the remaking of movies were special effects are key like the remaking of the time machine several remakes actually and everyone worst than the last !

Just compare Rod Taylor's "Time Machine" with the 2002 reboot. There is absolutely no comparison. The 1960 original was done on a shoestring budget, but the multi-million dollar all CGI remake was total garbage in comparison. No amount of special effects can ever ever compete with great acting and storytelling. If you agree, please give me a big Thumbs Up.

I remember when Rod Taylor was guest starring on such westerns as Cheyenne in the late 1950s. I'm surprised the producer of "The Time Machine" took a huge gamble and cast him as the lead. I wonder who turned down the role.
@BabyFaceBren
@BabyFaceBren 4 күн бұрын
@@joep8787 According to Wikipedia, George Pal originally considered a middle-aged English actor such as David Niven or James Mason (not that either was offered the role) and he later changed his mind and decided on Rod Taylor, to make the character younger and idealistic. It was Taylor’s first lead role.
