If you are going to haul big equipment like that you had best carry extra sets of bearings. You are going to burn them up. Leave the 20K LBS equipment to the RGN guys.

Dexter/Lippert recommend once every 12,000 miles you maintenance your bearings. That means pulling all of your hubs, taking your seals out, cleaning/inspecting your bearings/hubs/races & brakes, and replacing any damaged components and always replacing seals that have been pulled. From what I see most serious drivers typically do it at the latest 20,000-30,000 miles. It's not a quick job. I always recommend drivers to carry spare wheels/tires/hubs/brakes/bearings. Saves a lot of the time when it inevitably happens to you.
@StingerJake
@StingerJake 7 ай бұрын
That all depends on how hard you use your trailer. Or if your maxing a single tandem or average use on a dual tandem. Most single tandem owners are maxing their trailers all the time to stay in the game.

A tip for ya. On those cotter pins, take a pair of diagonal cutters the bigger the better and clamp onto the round side of the cotter pin. Rest the back side of the pliers on a surface and litterally roll them over to the left or right. It will pull the cotter pin right out easy. Works for all size cotter pins. Just don't clamp too hard and cut it on accident.

just so you know you can buy the hub assembly all new bearing ect., or just replace the bearings one is cheaper then the other but one is easier then the other. Me I carry two brake assemblies and hub assemblies and a set of bearings with me, so if one goes down I replace then on reset I replace bearings in one took off. I'm not sure on your trailer axle size but start at dexter hub assemblies websites then go from there I guess. Also, some inspect/repack their bearings or inspect new oil every 6 months others every year. I just passed my 1st level 1 inspection during blitz week after being in this for 2 years. For all the pm's I have done it paid off during that inspection. Or at least that's how I justify it in my head.

Then you can make 200K.... 300k... a year. But then again 100K is enough for some people to settle with and that is okay with me... but I won't be settling.

@@williejewelz8538 yeah I was prolonging the learning curve to learn how to change bearings and seals, but for some reason learning hard way is always how it happens. I know now because after this video, I changed my bearings and all the seals started linking then I had to change it again and now it’s good.

Tell me you don't do pre-trip without telling me. This makes us hotshot guys look bad! How do you not do regular maintenance on a trailer that makes you all the money! You took a good paying load and made us hotshot guys look bad! Pay attention to the equipment!

Overweight? He's a cdl driver with a 5500 truck. And that doesn't appear to be over 40k to me. So what exactly are you talking about
@PowerlifterRich

Cdl drivers can carry 80k. Obviously his truck ain't doing that but he's not even close to being overweight my uninformed friend

Not hotshot but cdl. Period. No hotshot carrying 80k. Lol. No hotshot carrying 60k either. The most a sensible hot shooter with a cdl would put on their rig I would hope be maxed at 30k
