I assume its been passed on from generation to generation. The sexagesimal system is still used-in a modified form-for measuring time, angles, and geographic coordinates.

When there is no symbol for zero in Babylonian numbers, then with what symbol they represented number 60?

ikr, a triangle with a space after it (left to right). the difficulty is knowing if it's either a space or a blank.

The Babylonian system is not "Base 60" any more than our system is "Base 100". Their system was _based_ on the number 60 as they used finger joints as well as fingers, but it was not "Base 60" and I don't know why people say it was. Internally, it is clearly decimal but they preferred to use 60 instead of 100. If it were "Base 60", we would have to count something like: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, α, ß, Γ, δ... and so on up to 10. 60 in so called "Babylonian Base 60" is 60 in Base 10, so it's obviously not Base 60. If it were Base 60, then a Babylonian 10 would be 60 in Base 10. Compare with Base 2, Base 8, Base 16 and so on. 10 in Base 16 is 16 in Base 10, and 10 in Base 10 is A in Base 16. But in Babylonian numbers, 10 is 10 in Base 10 and 60 is 60 in Base 10? So it's not "Base 60" at all. QED. {:o:O:}

regular numbers are essentially converted into babylonian by dividing into the number of descending sets of 60 raised to descending powers starting at the highest appropriate power; e.g., 60,000 would start with numerals in the set reserved for 60 raised to the power of two which would be separated by a blank from the next set of 60 raised to the power of one. we think in terms of powers of ten, i.e., 60k = 6 x 10^4, but for babylonians, 60k = 16 x 60^2 + 40 x 60^1, or
