Thank you for dumping and uploading the rom, that's the best way to preserve these things for posterity. I kind of understand why collectors buy stuff like this and sit on it without sharing, but all it takes is a house fire, or perhaps a relative discarding 'junk' after the owner dies, for these things to be lost forever. I really enjoyed the video too, very well-paced and suspenseful. It was fun to follow the twists and turns of the journey of that cartridge, and really cool to think that, thanks to your generosity and sense of community, I now own a little piece of it.

This video had everything: -a relentless main character who's passionate about his work (video games) -a mcguffin-like object sought-after by thousands of people - a retired master of the trade that needs to be convinced by the mc - a rival working towards the same goal - a sibling that supports the main character's journey - comrades along the way that made it all possible And even at the end, even when the mc had been seemingly beaten, he still proves to be the hero, preserving the knowledge he had acquired for others who are just as passionate about video games. People: Why didn't Coddy just brute-force it? The login screen required a user ID that was 6-digits long, 0-9 and A-Z. That's 36 possible characters. 36^6 = 2,176,782,336 possible user ID's to try. For a computer, that might not take very long (depending on how seriously you're trying to crack the user ID), but for Coddy, he would've had to input every single possible combination by hand. Not to mention, there's a password afterwards. Granted, the password for the ID that Coddy found would have been guessed straight away, but there was no guarantee that would happen. Not to mention, we don't know (based on the video's information) whether or not each cartridge had a single user ID and password combination, or if, say, Nick's user ID and password would work on Coddy's game and vice-versa. If the latter, that means Coddy could have potentially come across a different user ID with a different password when brute-forcing, and therefore the password would not necessarily have been 000000.

The problem is, videogames are not seen as art by the publishers themselves. By developers, maybe, but not by the publishers. Movie directors and companies are often proud in the fact that they produce art, so they aim to preserve it. Game publishers see videogames as quickly develping and expanding market to be milked and as soon as a game stops making money for them, in their opinion everyone should stop playing it to free up their time to play the next game, because games are much more time consuming, player's Free Time is the finite resource game publishers war for against each other.
