⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀 I've told this story before, but I saw BABYMETAL open for Korn & Stone Sour in Chula Vista, CA back in 2017. The concert was on Yui's Birthday (June 20th). There were hardcore Korn fans on either side of me, who were expecting something called BABYMETAL to be pretty mellow. They opened with 'BABYMETAL Death'. The look of shock was worth the price of admission by itself. : )

I think it shows what Baby metal is about, in that it is theatre, a complete package, not just another band on stage. It is like a rock or metal opera. Whether it is as heavy as xyz or not doesn't matter. It's entertaining and brings something new to the table.

This is what the narrator says in the beginning. I'm just paraphrasing based on a translation I read. She says Su is of the bloodline of the ancient Metal Goddesses and carries their DNA. So the Metal God has presented Su with the forgotten neck brace so she can be reborn as a goddess because the time till Doomsday is short.

I guess the metal genes (not to be confused with the metal jeans) didn't express in her sister Himeka. However, Himeka is also a lovely goddess in her own way. :) Or... did Su borrow them and not give them back? O.O

The full stage production is usually only for the bigger concerts in Japan, although I hear the huge LA concert will have a full stage production.The Wembley Arena show that I went to (12500 capacity venue, almost full) had some real stage production, but not quite as much as the biggest Japan shows. Most solo/headlining shows on their world tours have simply not been big enough to justify the huge effort and cost of transporting and setting up a full stage production abroad.

She was elevated from just Queen of the Stage (and our hearts) and *reborn as a Goddess of Metal* in this ceremony, like I said in a comment on your Headbanger reaction. She was crucified again on her 20th birthday in the "Legend XX" concert and reborn as an even higher-level Metal Goddess. Except for these special ceremonies, (until Yui left) the song was used a lot (without the crucifixion and the big stage production) as a concert opener to present the band ("BABYMETAL desu" etc. like others explained) and get the audience really fired up and set a really METAL mood. It is great how they can be both very innocent (and kawaii) and totally badass at the same time. Like the innocent introduction combined with badass heavy riffs and the whole audience jumping up and shouting "DEATH!!" over and over, and even a few extreme metal references like the upside-down crosses, death theater, and shouting "DEATH!" 6 times for each member => 666. Apropos extreme metal: the "Sis Anger" (Metallica St Anger name reference?) song you just reacted to very probably came about because they thought Black BABYMETAL should definitely have a Black Metal song, so it is based on Black Metal with a bit of catchiness, dancing and a little bit more babymetal-ish stuff added on top, and lyrics toned down from sinister and evil to just angry and rude (only "Rondo of Nightmare" have really dark lyrics). Not 100% sure Sis Anger still fully qualifies as Black Metal after the babymetalization treatment - even though I attended a whole extreme-metal-only festival once (the "Inferno" festival in Oslo) - but it is at least death metal and they have other songs and parts of songs based on death metal. Also, you still a have a large number of metal subgenres represented in the rest of the songs. On the other end of the spectrum is their lighter, playful songs like "Pa Pa Ya", "Awadama Fever", "Gimme Chocolate!" & others, but even they have some real not-watered-down metal backing live (and predominantly also in studio versions). BTW: When some early haters (fewer now) called BABYMETAL "bubblegum metal", BABYMETAL just made a lighthearted song called "Awadama fever" about magic bubblegum, that is also really good metal, as a very polite F U to the haters. February cannot come soon enough, when I am going to see them in Stockholm, Oslo and London. It is going to be totally awesome again, like each and every one of the double-digit number of their concerts I have already been to.

Another good reaction, the smaller shows are not as epic as stadium shows , but they are still awsome and the atmosphere is 2nd to none . The drums and Babymetal equipment where being brought on after the opening bands and the excitement went up and when the spotlights shone on the girls it went off the scale . Then it was "its over already i want more ".🤘😁🤘

Thanks for reaction ! On Dem0n's number 2 Death used to be their opening song, not anymore. Obviously at smaller shows they can't bring the big stage production. Babymetal can really bring it with their theatrics, metal fans have always loved that so it fits. This was probably their most exhaustive choreography. What you missed maybe, like Dem0s's first time seeing it, the statue head came off which is a tribute to the statue breaking up during the Metallica Justice for All-tour. See you ! :-)

Yeah obviously they can't use this as introduction now that Yui's gone :(. These are the little extras that sting my heart to this day. Same goes for all the black babymetal songs : Onedari Daisakusen, Song 4, Sis Anger :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(. I instantly need to stop thinking about it or I get depressed :D.

@@zee.kuerschner , I'm always torn between whether to recommend the live or the official MV for those songs that have one. The live performances are that good, but usually the MV goes a long way to explain the song, especially when one does not understand the lyrics. So, to @NeonReaperGaming, no matter which is chosen first, do make time to see the other.

But for me, I like to watch the MV first for Megitsune, Iine, Doki-doki Morning and Karate because it's interesting when I watch it for the first time. Especially Megitsune and Karate. But either live show or MV, it's up to you @NeonReaperGaming to decide. I'm just suggesting 😊

Su's arms were clearly too long for that crucifix. That's the problem with kids that age. You get them something, and they'll probably outgrow it before they really get much proper use out of it. I guess it's not really the sort of thing you can have as a hand-me-down either. Notice how Yui and Moa were careful not mess up Su's hair when putting on the neckbrace? It's an important lesson that just because you're crucifying someone, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be considerate, so be sure to practice proper metalquette. :)
