Great reaction. This was their first new song in 3 years (apart from the collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon of course) and as a taster for the new album I think its a great start. Also for the first time Su-metal is credited with writing the lyrics. If the bar is set for you at 'Karate' you really have some treats to listen to - its a great song but they have many better (for "better" read "that I like even more" ... we all have our own - and usually different - favourites). We have 4 more new songs to look forward to between now and the new album being released in March. 🤘🦊

Something to take into account is these songs are written for them to put choreography to, Su needs some pauses in the vocals so she can dance with Moa otherwise it wouldn't fuse together as well, I think when we see it on stage it might seem to make more sense that they did it how they did.

Btw I think, and this is a common guess among fans, the lyrics got kinda a tribute or some inspiration from Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) anime series, the more i hear the lyrics the more i'm convinced, but we all know this is part of a concept album with apparently different worlds on each one of their songs and everything, including the story, will be revealed at their own time. So far we can say that this song carry the spirit of Road Of Resistance and some others songs with uplifting lyrics but is a battlecry, a call to arms and fight for your future. Thanks for sharing your breakdown and thoughts on this new single, you're not the only one thinking about that probably isn't their best song, but meanwhile until nex single and full album sounds totally fine for me and everyone i heard talking about this song. Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。(FYI, you should check Sabaton's tour schedule in 2023 including 4 concerts in UK and find what they are going to do with BABYMETAL in April / May) The third era (or fourth?) of BABYMETAL has just begun. I reconfirmed the purity of Su's voice even after some maturity. Moa's velvety but powerful voice in the back sounds great, too. The first thing came up in my brain was Dante's "The Divine Comedy". A figure with wings reminded me of Beatrice in purgatory. The sacred image is overlapping with Su and Moa, but we all know that is just one of their various faces that we are going to witness from now on. Let's not be judgmental in haste. Hail to the newly born lyricist Su!! 😍

Great reaction, thanks! This is a great song and a perfect comeback in my opinion. Well structured, cool drum & bass, some heavy riffing with tuned down guitars, nice orchestral touch... and of course Su-metal's amazing clean vocals. As Herman Li said on his reaction video, they are not showing all their cards on the first single of the new album. It's funny that I consider "Karate" way poppier than this one, even structurally. They are releasing up to five digital singles, one each month except for December until the new album release (The Other ONE) next March 24th. Also performing two back to back concerts in late January and joining Sabaton on tour across the UK and Europe in April and May.

Terrific reaction, you pick up a lot very quickly. This is the first release from an upcoming concept album, THE OTHER ONE, so we may be re-evaluating this song and its structure in that context when the time comes (March) not just as a standalone work.

Those opening bars sounded so old-school Japanese metal, but then morphed to the drum n' bass you described with an excellent metal-vibe driving through. Loved it - need more! Thanks Steve.

Nice reaction. IMO Babymetal recordings are like a taster's plate of how their songs will go when they play them live. Some songs are more direct from the recordings, while others sound amazingly better live. Which is why many folks say Babymetal live is what you want. When you put it all together. Babymetal live performances I've been told are life altering experiences. Folks go on about how they were overly happy for months at a time. Some for years. While others have become lifelong happy. Kawaii conquers all as Moa has said. They definitely have a way of making you feel better. If you're ever feeling down. Put a Babymetal song on. Like this one and in a short time you'll notice it's hard to feel blue after that. Well at least until Babymetal starts mixing the Blues into their metal. Which is bound to happen one day. They're gonna get around to every genre sooner or later. Babymetal seems to be hiding the choreography by using the visualizer instead of them performing the song. Creating a mystery of what will they do for these new songs? In January we get to find out. They are doing two shows in January. In the meantime, they will drop a new song in November and January. 3 new songs for them to perform and with the new album coming in March. We might get some of those songs as well. Only the fox god knows as they're fond of saying. This song for me is a great first release. As it doesn't give away what might be the best song on the album and then it's downhill from there like so many other artists have done. While some may say how do you know it isn't? Well because I've heard the snippets they released of the other songs. The snippet for this song turned out to be a cool song. Going by that the rest should have some total bangers in there as well as some other cool stuff they will no doubt surprise us with. Even if on the album it turns out to be just an ok song. We know somehow it will be totally bonkers when they perform it live. That's how Babymetal magic works. Now it's time to stand and follow your dreams. Or in my case just go to get lunch. which it could turn out to be a dream too. Enjoy the ride down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of musicverses.

I pretty much agree with you. The criticism I have is that second bridge sets up something, and it doesn't deliver. In a normal band it wouldn't be an issue, but you know Babymetal has better song writing than that. Also when you think of lead singles for albums - Gimme Choco, Karate, PA PA YA, this song does not hit the bar. On the other hand we have 4 more singles to come before the album launch, almost certainly we'll see stronger songs as they build up to the launch. I also think this is intended to be radio friendly. Also also, as the first song Su has writing credits on, a good debut

This is the first of five songs that will be releasing before the album launch in March, so its reasonable to assume that this is just the appetizer for things to come. Even so, its a banger in its own right. Us kitsune are particularly excited by the fact that Su-metal is credited as one of the writers of the song, which is a first.

I believe this was written for the finale of the anime Attack on Titan (Shinjeki no Kyojin). The Japanese name of the song is 'Shinjeki'. Babymetal use the same font as the anime in their thumbnail. I hope it is actually used this November!!

Regarding "Karate": It, certainly, is a fucking incredible song. But it also isn't the best their second album has to offer. At least in my opinion. Also, the singles they released from their third album altogether were either great or (at least) more than decent. But also far from being the best songs of said album. That said: I expect no less than great material from their fourth release which will come out in April next year!

Great reaction to a great (you comments during the song were a bit hard to hear, so you may want to consider stopping or cranking the mic up :D). In my opinion a fantastic song, heavy, catchy and mature Babymetal. I especially like all the insane little drum fills in between, they are dope! I think Herman Li from Dragonforce got it right that this is the first single of their upcoming album, so probably not the very best song from it but certainly a banger. On top of that, Su-metal got credited for writing the lyrics for the very first time, which makes me immensely proud of her achievement! Can’t wait for the next song coming in November!
