Great reaction ... and yes they just get under your skin. I thought I was a fan of other bands in the past - it turns out I liked their music, went to some concerts, bought some merch etc. I never really looked very deeply into those bands' origins, where they came from or whatever beyond the basics, but that was what I found myself doing after I discovered BABYMETAL (I even listened to the JPop stuff they did when they were not being BABYMETAL - so not my thing at all in any other circumstances - and Su-metal's performances when she was in the Actors School Hiroshima ... she was always so talented). You already know 'Doki Doki Morning' was their very first song (recorded late October 2010 and they made their live debut with it in November 2010), what it means and what it is about.

Nice! This was Babymetal’s very first song ever! Original live debut on Nov 2010. Su was 12, Moa and original 3rd member Yui were 11! Official MV came out in 2011, and you should check it out too!! 🤘🦊

That's amazing! I had no idea that "BXMXC" was Babymetal's very first song. It’s incredible to think about Su being just 12 and Moa and Yui being 11 during their live debut back in November 2010. @reylynx They were great to start with, but their confidence and vocals ( especially Su's) have just gotten even more impressive. A thing I did not believe possible . I saw them at the Roundhouse in London last November 2 nights in a row. I saw them 3 times before that going back to Brixton Academy in July 2019. Every show is better than the last, and the first show was great . Once you see them, you leave, wondering how you can get to see them again as quickly as you can . They are addictive the happiness you feel skyrocks from seeing them . 😁🤘🏼🦊 subbed 👍

💕 ⚡ 🍑 / 💓 ⏰ "Doki Doki" represents the sound of an excited heartbeat. This was the first BABYMETAL single, music video, etc. Like many classic Heavy Metal songs, the lyrics of 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' talk about which cute hairstyle and lip gloss they should decide on for school. : ) Pretty much everything that followed was because the music video for this song unexpectedly blew up. Moa has commented recently about how good Su is in imitating her younger voice when she sings this song now. The songs 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' and 'Uki Uki ★ Midnight' are kind of like sisters. They're both "slice of life" songs, one daytime and one nighttime.

Just so you know, the “Baby” in BABYMETAL is not about the girls or their age etc. The baby is a new type of metal being created - Kawaii (cute) Metal. I think they nailed it! 🤟🏻

Nice one, thanks! "Doki Doki Morning" (I guess the star is for aesthetic purposes) was their very first song. They started in 2010 being very young (12 and 11yo). But this is the most recent performance of the song and what you noticed on Su's vocals is she imitating her younger self. Even Moa told that she's very good at that, haha... The song is about waking up late in the morning and having to hurry up to get to school, having to choose a lip-gloss and a cute hairstyle and being excited to see your friends... very metal themes as you can see. 🤣 But you need to know the general context of the song. They originated as a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin, a larger school-themed J-pop idol group formed by girls between 10 and 15. So, this is technically a SG song (actually, it's part of SG's debut album) and it had to be necessarily poppy. But it's also ridiculously metal for that same context. 🤘🦊

@@reylynx That's a very good question! When I first discovered them I was so lost (I had to gather all the info here and there) and I initially thought that a group like them had the days numbered. I was totally wrong. They totally know how to reinvent themselves every time. They have adapted pretty well to every change, the most obvious, their growth (both physical and as artists). But also to the critics and all the hardships they have had to face, specially in late 2017 and 2018 with Yui being unable to perform, Mikio Fujioka's (one of the guitarists) untimely passing away, changes in the formation that didn't work, etc. I'm not sure if you know how they were formed in first place. But all of this is the idea of one man: Key Kobayashi, their producer (also songwriter, lyricist, arranger, manager, etc.). He's the man behind all their decisions (musical or not musical). They have a team of several songwriters and lyricists but Koba is the final responsible for all their music so it tend to be cohesive... and perfect! (he returned 35 times "Megitsune" to the song's arranger after all, haha...) He sometimes doesn't get the credit he deserves. Since you are curious about these aspects, you would probably like to watch a guide about them which explains it all. There is a pretty much complete and updated one on A Fox Song channel called The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024). Note that it's actually "extensive" but be appreciate it a lot when reactors do it.

If you watch the original MV, you will be shocked how young they were! Barely teens and yet they were great even then. Selling out 20,000 crowds at 15… not bad.

@@reylynx First performance was 2010 and they were 12/11/11!!!! Actual kids. A lot has happened since then. When you see early videos of the band dressed in coverall skeleton costumes - they were fake. The band were a session band because they couldn’t afford the real deal for a performance. Now, a force of nature!

BTW, this is Babymetal's first debut single in 2010. Su is 12 years old, Moa and Yui are 10 years old., also look at the music video version, they are still very small and adorable but deadly:⁠-⁠D I recommend the music videos for doki doki morning, Iine, megitsuni, uki uki mid night, ijime dame zettai and others😄

Great reaction! Now that you have seen this, if you want to see what "kawaii (cute) metal" (a metal subgenre that they created) TRULY looks like, then you MUST watch the official music video which was uploaded in 2011. "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" was their first song and they really didn't have much funding from their agency, so they had to borrow clothes as well as help from other people for the music video. 🤘🦊🤘

Longer post. Back in the mid 80s I lived in Japan and found and frequented a nightclub in, what I remember being, Roppongi called Tsubaki House. All other nights it was a conventional, albeit small dance club but on Thursday nights, it was Heavy Metal night. They played exclusively Western Metal, and heavy stuff, at that... Anthrax, Maiden, Metallica, etc. The dance floor was full with us banging our heads although there were hints of dancing as well, when more melodic, but still heavy, songs played.. I'd like to think Kobametal attended this club and envisioned marrying Metal with dance, but that may just be wishful thinking. Thanks for reading. Kitsunes up!
