Watch the live shows to see the band. Also the live shows let you see the power of the girls over the audience, and the chaos of their choreography.

There are 2 live versions that are must watches IMO. First is live at Legend 1997 Apocalypse (recorded in 2013 for lead singer Su-metal's 16th birthday) and live at Legend M Apocrypha XX (Moametal's 20th birthday in 2019). Official MVs are good, but live is always better..

There are actually several versions where each of the 3 girls take the lead on their birthdays a couple with Su, a couple with Moa and one I know of with Yui, typically done on their 16th and 20th birthdays

OMG! I have seen many Headbanger live videos (my absolut favorit version is Moas 20th birthday, better known as Moabanger) but it is for me the first time to see the official video 🤣. And I love it! 😍 Thx for it.

At that time, they could not afford a band, so they had session musicians for studio mv and performed to a backing track untill they could afford a band . There live bands are great ( yes bands ) the longest performing with them the Eastern Kamis and since 2019 Western Kamis . The Bands are great but the girls are what make BabyMetal so different and entertaining . Su's vocals make it even better . After you seen a few more songs you relise why . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

Headbanger (Babymetal song):- "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" (ヘドバンギャー!!, Hedobangyā!!) is a single by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. Released in Japan on July 4, 2012 in promotion for the album Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo: My Generation, the single serves as the third single from the debut album Babymetal. It is also the band's first solo audio release to be released commercially. •Single: Babymetal. •Album: Babymetal and Sakura Gakuin 2012. •Nendo: My Generation. •Language: Japanese. •Released: July 4, 2012. •Genre: Power Metal, Heavy Metal. •Length: 14:44. •Label: Juonbu. •Songwriter: Edometal, Nakametal, Narasaki. •Producer: Kobametal. •Narametal: (arrangement). Babymetal singles chronology:- "Babymetal / Kiba of Akiba": (2012) "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!": (2012) "Ijime, Dame, Zettai": (2013) Background and release:- Unlike previous tracks released by the band, which had her vocal recorded in segments within the songs, Nakamoto had her lines recorded in a single take several times. She had been told to sing and find a story within the music. By the time she had comprehended the story behind the lyrics, she grew capable of singing the entire song naturally. When Mizuno and Kikuchi listened to her shouting "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" for the first time, they felt as if they had seen another cool side of her, surprised by the vocal power. Additionally, the single introduced the members to the whispering style of singing, with the A-side's "Kiero!" (Disappear!) and the B-side's "Uki Uki Midnight". Kobametal was inspired to Ko use it to contrast traditional death growls. "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" was announced as a single on April 27, 2012, with a release date set for July 7, 2012. The single was released in two versions: a standard edition, available via CD and digital formats, and a physical limited Hedo-ban ("Head edition"), which contains a CD and a "neck corset" (actually a cervical collar) for headbanging training.[5] Both editions of the single feature the songs "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and "Uki Uki ★ Midnight" (ウ・キ・ウ・キ★ミッドナイト, "Exhilarating Midnight"), along with instrumental versions (labeled as "Air Vocal ver."). The standard version contains an enhanced CD with a bonus music video of "Babymetal Death", which can only be played on a computer. The artwork of the standard edition depicts a lyric in the song, specifically when the girl is headbanging with the corset, with the crimson-colored moon in the background, as well as the band name appearing at the top. The limited edition artwork depicts a temple scripture of the "Corset of Legend" with the song title spelled out in the middle. Before the physical international release of the song, its title was written ambiguously as either "Head Bangya!!" or "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", the latter of which is officially used in the international re-release of Babymetal and all future releases. The music video uploaded to the band's KZbin channel initially had the former name, though it was switched to the latter in 2015; the version uploaded by Toy's Factory consistently retained the official title. Tekina Remix:- During the live performances Legend "D" Su-metal Seitansai at Akasaka Blitz on December 20, 2012, and Legend "1997" Su-metal Seitansai at Makuhari Messe on December 21, 2012, a remix titled "Night of 15 mix." was performed, containing more elements of electronic music. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Remixed by DJ'Tekina//Something, the song was later released as part of Social Reform promotional editions of the single "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and later appeared on DJ'Tekina//Something's remix album Kawa-EDM (2016), re-subtitled as "Tekina Remix". Babymetal original Trio:- •Suzuka Nakamoto: Su-Metal (2010 - present). •Moa Kikuchi: Moametal (2010 - present). •Yui Mizuno: Yuimetal (2010 - Left Babymetal in 2018 due to undisclosed health issue). KamiBand:- The KamiBand are the instrumentalists (or backing band) in BABYMETAL - Each member is a "god (Kami) of music" summoned by The Fox God stage by stage. All the Kamis are male except for the Babymetal girls. The Kami Band wear corpse face paint and white robes depicting Japanese 🇯🇵 spirit. The Kami Band have their own jobs and side-projects in addition to BABYMETAL. The thing you need to keep in mind is that some of this stuff is over 10 years old. The lead singer here is maybe 14 or 15. She is 25 now. She was a good singer then but now has several world tours under her belt. You'll never find her doing Opera style like most female sopranos in metal but she definitely has her own sound. The more you listen to babymetal the more you'll find something missing without the vocals.

Great reaction, Babymetal are the three women with a rotating 4-piece backing band of session musicians. The band in the studio is not the same as the live shows, and they are not technically part of Babymetal, so this is why you won't see much focus on the band in music videos. That said, there are moments where they get to shine during live performances and show their personalities. Like you, most of us come to look at Babymetal from a more traditional band setup, and so we know and appreciate the work that the band does. The fun thing about this rotating band of session musicians is we get to have 6 guitarists, 2 Bassists, and 3 drummers, all incredibly gifted, with their own personality and style that immediately jumps out when you see them play. I suggest beginning your journey in to Babymetal's live performances with the song Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014. 🤘🦊🤘

If you want to see (and hear) the Kami Band (the instrumentalists who support BABYMETAL) you will have to watch a live performance ... the instrumentalists on the albums are anonymous studio session musicians. The Kami Band first appeared in 2012, two years after BABYMETAL were formed, and became the full time support for all live concerts early in 2014. BABYMETAL is the 3 girls (just 2 from 2017/18 when Yuimetal left for undisclosed health reasons until April this year when they got a new third member). BABYMETAL is a live performance act. The albums, studio recordings and official videos which use that audio are like taster menus to give you an idea of what the songs will sound like when you see them live ... you only get the full dish with all the extra herbs and spices and the full flavour when you see and hear them live supported by the Kami Band. The vocals in the studio recordings are also notoriously over-processed and compressed, which makes them sound thinner and higher pitched ... once again they are so much better live without all that compression etc (the whole concept was formed around the lead singer's vocal talents and stage presence - and for very good reason). Any growls are anonymous - in live performances they are on a backing track with extra instruments like piano and synth etc.

Hey Sky! Welcome back to the "Foxhole" (it's a Babymetal thing 😉)! I hope you choose to stay and explore further. Babymetal has a style all their own, referred to as "Kawaii metal" (Cute metal). And I'm in full agreement that their band is among the best in the industry (esp their drummers - no one works harder)! I'll just confirm what others have said- live is best. They are a top-shelf live act. Great job and Rock On, Ms Anderson!! 🤘🦊🤘

_Hedoban hedoban_ _Ban ban ban ban!_ Whatta great suggestion and reaction to enjoy the original trio and especially YuiMetal since today is her birthday, she's not in the group anymore but we all remember and love her forever.🍅♥️ The live version hits harder so you definitely need to watch that, don't worry, there's plenty version of this and is one of the most beloved by fans for a reason, we even got an insane 2023 live version recently. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BabyMetal fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. The official MV is creepy for some fans, I guess the organ church gave that effect. The "Hedoban god" is representing the metal spirit and the girls are praising so the metal spirit of the neckbrace posses their bodies, you know, is metal after all, just remember we are -NotACult- 👀 The neckbrace here is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan, he's songwriter, composer, pianist and drummer, he's a living legend and a true metal god among Japaneses, he hurts his neck while headbanging so hard during a live concert suffering serious injuries, he got a life of so much sadness and sacrifice but he's such a talented musician and artist, even Michael Jackson was a friend of him, so yeah he's big, that's why BabyMetal got a lot of tributes to him on early songs and live concerts. At the end of this you can see an easter egg with the red moon teasing another song called "Akatsuki" (a SuMetal solo), is another song with tribute to X-Japan, live at Budokan 2014 is one of the safest clip to react. Another song i like to recommend for first time watching an official MV is "Megitsune" because of the Japanese visual elements unlike some live versions which contains certain parts I don't like the spoilers, such the intro. But of course live is a blast like the rest of their songs. Try "Catch Me If You Can" live at Budokan 2014 if you want another "creepy" and fun song (GuilhermeCait channel got a safe version to react) or "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (careful with the official live, put a watermarked logo, opacity or translucent effect) And no, she's not the one doing those growling, she's shouting at the end thou. None of the Kami Band or anyone relevant is credited for the growling parts, except for certain songs like Distortion after 2019. See you next time 🦊🤘❤

Jake -- I totally agree with you. The *MV* (not one of the many live versions) "Megitsune" is imo musically not the best BM song, but because of the lyrics and the visuals it's the most important and an absolute must. It became the "anthem", the manifesto of female emancipation in rock and metal music in Japan and is full of references to Japan art, literature, fairy tale, music etc. One can easily lecture about it for an hour or more. Several all-female bands made cover versions of Megitsune, e.g. Nemophila.

So are a ton of Babymetal fans. Personally I am more Metallica, Slipknot, Disturbed. But a lot of older metal fans are Babymetal fans. Babymetal did Painkiller and Breaking the Law with Rob Halford at an awards show. The older metal bands love Babymetal too. Ozzy saw them live in Japan. Corey Taylor is a fan. Metallica danced with them in Korea etc etc.

You seriously need to see a live version - they invariably blow the socks off their studio sound (hugely so) - and if not suggested (same track) - then headbanger legend of 97 (same concert gimme choc was filmed in & absolutely breath-taking) - or really almost anything else live (maybe not the English version of elevator girl........). The band gets a LOT of exposure usually - at least in their earlier years - the group felt very "balanced". I THINK their name may be partly a Japanese wordplay - "heavy metal" sounds like "hehbe-metaru" and Babymetal sounds like "Behbe-metaru". Good reaction and....more please!

I'm going to steal a comment that I read in here at some point. "Babymetal creates new synapses in the brain" I actually believe this haha because, I'm a pretty new fan but I've listened to them so much now that the dichotomy of sounds between the cute vocals and heavy metal is completely unnoticeable to me now. It literally sounds normal haha. They are incredible As for the sounds clashing, thst was literally the entire point for the formation of the band lol

So let's just ease you along and show you the Band, since they were not featured in the first couple Video's you have seen. Check out "Rondo of Nightmare" with the 'Mischifief of Gods' intro from Budokan 2014. That will give you a good look at the "Kami Band"!! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

Thanks for this react it was very fun! The band was formed because Su-Metal (lead singer) had such powerful and perfect vocals, it's one of the only bands I have ever listened to that sound better live than studio version. The band is amazing, the support vocals are amazing, the showmanship is amazing, but Su-Metal is the reason they took off to start with and is just incredible. I hope you get to see one of her iconic performances. A couple of examples if you feel like checking them out (both showcase the band as well): Babymetal - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (Su-Metal owns an audience, amazing music) Babymetal - Akatsuki「紅月 -アカツキ-」| LIVE at Budokan Black Night (Su-Metal solo)

Babymetal are the three girls (now young ladies). They started when they were just 12 and 10 years old. The original trio was Su-metal (lead singer), Yuimetal and Moametal (scream and dance). Sadly Yuimetal left the band in 2018. On April 1 this year they official named a new third member Momometal. They are not a band, but a metal dance unit (from their roots as an idol group). During Lives, they are backed by the Kami band, some of Japan's best session musicians sent by the Fox God to support Babymetal. They are not official part of BM. In the videos the girls are the primary focus, but in Lives the Kami band is visible. You'll receive more information from many others.

I think that's why people still follow them up to this day because they are very different from other bands, don't sell this three girls short, people who follow babymetal know who their musicians is and how great they are on stage but the hard fact is they can be replace that's why they also have western kami for their show in other parts of the world and pretty likely they can easily let someone play for them whos talented enough to play all their song but those three girls is very hard to be replace took them years just to replace one, The singer of the group debuted when she's 5 or 6 years means shes singing earlier than that, the other two loves to perform more likely debuted i when their 10 or earlier something. they've been trained from a very young age to be an idol so it's very easy for them to sing, dance and not be intimidated by crowds or other performers., its hard to see people downplay the girls without knowing their backgrounds and what's they've went through just to achieved what they have now.

You should give the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" live version a look. In my opinion, it is much better than the MV, and this isn't what I would call one of their best music videos - they have much better ones ("Doki Doki Morning", "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), "Karate", Megitsune", and "BxMxC"). This are included in a YT playlist I have along with fifteen other great BABYMETAL videos: kzbin.info/aero/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj Since you've expressed a desire to see the Kami Band perform, I suggest the ninth entry of my playlist "Catch Me if You Can" Live at Budokan Black Night Apocalyse. Hopefully, this playlist will help with your next BABYMETAL fix. 😉 BABYMETAL "cast of characters": Su-metal - Suzuka Nakamoto, lead singer Moametal - Moa Kikuchi, scream and dance (backing vocals, "cheerleader") Yuimetal - Yui Mizuno, scream and dance (backing vocals, "cheerleader") [left the group in 2018 for health reasons] replaced in 2023 by Momometal - Momoko Okazaki, scream and dance (backing vocals, "cheerleader") The Kami Band is a group of session players who provide the music during live performances. The members of the Kami Band vary (BABYMETAL even has a "western" Kami Band when they tour the United States). At BABYMETAL's beginning, the Kami Band was: ISAO - guitar Takayoshi Ohmura - guitar Leda Cygnus - guitar BOH - bass Aoyama Hideki - drums Fujioka Mikio - guitar (died 2018) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

You have to understand gimme chocolate during legends 97 is part of the story that is why you dont see the band and you see the baby bones from doki doki morning(their first single when they were like 11 and 13) in the skeleton suits,Legends 97 is about Su transforming from her school idol image from Sukura Gakuin into the metal goddess,its not just a music concert its a theatrical masterpiece with one of the best endings you will ever see in Babymetal Death.(Kami band blows the roof off) While i love the studio versions of their songs Babymetal are always better live. 🦊

The girls don't growl, the growls are there, but they are a track. As for the girls not growling and not sounding like metal, I'd say they are similar to bands like After Forever, Nightwish, and other bands that are typically more in the Symphonic Metal genre. Many of those ladies don't growl either, but have somebody else in the band that does the growls. That being said, I can understand what you mean about it being weird to hear the highpitched voices mixed with the heavy chugs of metal music. After a while you get "used to it" and even begin to like it most of the time. Right now you're still in the wtf am I watching! phase. Once you get past that then you start to get to see the good things this band does (which you're kind of doing by mentioning the musicians). I'd also highly recommend watching their live stuff whenever possible as they truly do shine best live. If you want to see more of the band, then I'd recommend Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of gods intro, Catch Me If You Can, Road of Resistance Live in Japan Official (although this one doesn't give the band an intro like the other 2, you get to see a lot more of the band than usual in this performance). There are other songs too where the musicians get a chance to shien, but those are the fan favorites to start you off with.

I think the band on the studio recordings are session musicians hired by the record company that owns the band, and the music is composed by the one guy who invented the project. The drums on the album might be a drum machine? The Japanese music industry is a bit different than in the US. The live band have been the same guys for a while, iirc, and yeah, they're badass. Too bad they are so behind the scenes to the whole project, they 'd be great with their own band making their own music. The girls were recruited from a pop-idol talent agency when they were early teens/preteens to do this project, and it was so popular they just kept doing it. I think they're in their early 20's now. They don't showcase the band because there isn't really a band.

@Jim.G You have the basic concepts correct but some factual errors. . Suggest you watch other reactions and read the comments from some of the BM fans who are more knowledgeable than me. BM is technically a metal dance unit (from their roots as an idol group), backed by the Kami band who are all session musicians. BTW members of the core Japanese Kami band have a group called the Kari band, plus they own projects.

just so you know there is no actual band the group is just the 3 girls backed by a session band (Kami Band) consisting of more then 20-30 different band members who rotate in and out, Babymetal their live performances are better then the music Videos, it gives you a whole new appreciation for their songs, Gimmy Chocolate is about a girls struggle with weight and public perception but just wants some chocolate (not a member but all women), Headbanger is about a girls first experience with a metal concert and their are 3 versions of this one with Su Metal, one with Moa Metal taking the lead and one with Yui metal taking the lead which they did on their birthday's, but going forward react to the live versions way better then the music video and do the songs a much better justice, then later on you should do the Everything you need to know A Babymetal Guide by Cryptic Misery it will explain everything to you

I also recommend BM's first *MV* "Doki, Doki, Morning", the girls at 10 and 12 years in a private school for dance and music of the J-Pop industry. It was a regular semester ending task to be graded by their teachers and it became the beginning of BM's career and of a new sub-genre "kawai metal" (kawai = cute, sweet). The low budget production is about waking up late in the morning, making oneself up, hurrying to school, daily school routine and hanging out with friends. I like it.

Sakura Gakuin wasn't an actual private school or anything. It was a idol group themed around school life. The girls did go to actual school aswell during their sakura gakuin days.

I'm sure others have let you know by now, but you're doing it wrong for your reactions. I love the music videos, do not get me wrong, but you NEED TO watch the live performances. They showcase the band quite heavily...at least up until 2018-ish, it's a long story. The music videos are strictly to tell a story and give context for the song, nothing more. Hell, a bunch of their MV's don't even feature the girls, so it is what it is. The only MV you really need to see is the one for the song Karate, it is a legitimate piece of art and storytelling. Past that, stay with live performances for them. You're already starting to fall down the proverbial "fox hole" and there will be a song where the voices and music just fit for you and it will all fall into place for you. It usually takes between 3-4 songs to really get over the clashing of styles, but you'll get there.

Nice reaction but can I make a suggestion? Avoid the music videos and watch their live performances because that is where they shine. The Kami band are phenomenal and the girls and their choreography step it up another level or two. The only MV’s that I think are worthy are ‘Karate’ and ‘Megitsune’, otherwise concert performances are the only way to enjoy this group. If you really want to see the band go ham, watch Rondo of Nightmare live at Budakon Black Night with the Kami band intro.

I’m big on seeing the band that has the talent… the guitarist, bassist and drummer. This band focuses more on the girls being cute. Which is for some ppl and not for others I think the “band” is fantastic just wish they didn’t hide them in the back. I think they could accompany the girls really well.
@jonabitstream
@jonabitstream 10 ай бұрын
@@SkyAndersonReacts the musicians are, without a doubt, top-tier talent, but they are not the reason this band is popular. The three girls/women are what sets them apart. If you just want great musicians, look elsewhere. There are videos of the musicians playing solos that you can watch. yes the girls are cute (they're beautiful now that they're in their twenties), but that's not why they have so many fans. They have their fans because they can sing and dance spectacularly, and because they have made metal music interesting for people like me who are utterly bored with what metal has become: heavy guitars and drums with somebody singing like the Cookie Monster. That's boring, BabyMetal is exhilarating. Hope you can eventually see and appreciate this. Experienced metal=heads do typically need to adjust to it, but you're one of 2 or 3 I've seen here on KZbin who got stuck on a shallow first impression.

I got stuck on a shallow first impression because I’d rather see the musician’s involved more? Plus I can review whoever I want and not like or fake a reaction just to make the audience happy… so wouldn’t the reason be that this band is so popular with yourself because of a shallow perspective as your own? Because all I said is I’d rather see the band more involved … it’s main and only focus are the girls
@jonabitstream
@jonabitstream 9 ай бұрын
@@SkyAndersonReacts of course you should be honest in your reactions. Nowhere did I suggest you should lie to your audience. Nowhere. In my opinion, your reaction was honestly shallow.The reason this band is popular with me is exactly because they are not shallow. They are endlessly surprising and unpredictable. The "girls" are not this band's "only focus" (where'd you get that from?), but they are what sets the production apart from all the competition. Hey, you're on a learning curve. As I mentioned in the previous comment, if you keep watching their videos -- the live ones -- you'll get to see the instrumentalists in the spotlight. But after your initial reaction left me with the impression that not seeing the guitars/drums in that video meant your mind was closed/shallow. If true, sad.
@SkyAndersonReacts
@SkyAndersonReacts 9 ай бұрын
I just don’t understand the comment shallow? Lol because I want to see the guitarist shred or the drummer beat their drums… that’s what is very impressive to me for a metal band… they can sing sure they can dance sure but I’m not here to see them dance around I’d rather see them more active with the band that plays the music… why hide them for the most part in the shadows? I’m sure not every performance is like that but for this one I wasn’t a fan .. and I’m closed minded that I would like to see the band AS WELL… how the heck is that shallow? Lol

It's interesting how you don't realize that what makes Babymetal special IS NOT the metal BACKING band. Really? You've never heard heavy guitars before, maybe with growls? AMAZING! How unique!!! So, you completely miss that Babymetal (which is the 3 girls, not the backing band) is what makes them different? Good thing that you don't produce music! What a boring playlist that your small mind would create!
