Photosensitive seizure warning: A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear at Babymetal concerts. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while attending a Babymetal concert.

Judging from all the videos, BM's performance have been outstanding and the crowds consistently manic and mad. One thing I've been wondering is why the venues are much smaller on this tour, than they usually play (in the 3-5,000 capacity range), when they normally play to crowds of anywhere from 12,000 to 50,000. I'm seeing them in Bangkok next month in a hall with a capacity of only 3500 and it's not sold out yet. Admittedly, it is their first time in Thailand. So, maybe they're testing the waters in a new market. But, they are so popular in Europe and the UK, I wonder why they didn't play larger venues there. It's just an honest question and not in anyway a criticism of what is my favorite band in the world. If anyone knows why, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Actually, Babymetal started playing in EU/US in 2014 and over the years they went from playing a few shows at 1000 people or so to doing 2 big shows (Wembley Arena, UK and The Forum, US) and lots and lots of 'smaller' shows at around 3000 people in many different regions. Almost always selling out shows. So just like Bangkok they are playing a lot of new countries/regions they've never been before (Belgium, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Russia, others parts of the UK, Scotland). Babymetal has a lot of staff, Kami band of course, Koba, Nora, 2 for hair and make up/clothes, security guy or 2, 2 bus drivers (I think one bus for the ladies and one for the boys), lighting person, sound person, roadies, merchandise people (maybe that last one is mostly venue staff). It's possibly a loss if they don't at least almost sell out a venue. So they play it a bit safe when choosing venues. What they don't do and thus safe on: advertising. They don't usually do local ads in papers, etc. for selling tickets for shows.

@@autohmae Thanks for the answer. I've been following them almost from the beginning (since 2013) and actually have published a research paper and teach a university class about them, Kawaii culture and the whole phenomenon of traditional idol vs metal idol/kawaii metal and its growing influence in the world. Besides Bangkok, I hope to see them in Japan at some point (if they play Yokohama Arena again, for example) as that's where they play to really huge crowds. I'd like to experience that and compare it to what I experience at the Bangkok concert.

If they did 1 show in Europe we would all go to it and fill a large venue but doing a full tour they will not sell out all the larger venues
@autohmae4 жыл бұрын
@@blondebabymetal1033 they reach more people with doing more smaller shows than 1 big show of course, because not everyone is capable of traveling. The more casual fans don't even consider such a thing as an option.

@@brianlewis6405 That sound amazing. This university class is it part of an online course ? Because I think some people would ace that class. :-) Su-metal keeps telling us how interesting it is how crowds react differently all around the world. So visit all of them ! ;-)
