For years, I've wondered why they kept the twin tail hairstyle for both Yui, Moa, and Momo. Technically, there are some pictures of Su in her Sakura Academy days with twin tails while the other two had ponytails. After watching a particular song's choreography multiple times, I just realized that when they raise the twin tails in the air, it's supposed to resemble devil horns.

It's how the girls are styled. Su pony tail, the other two pigtails. They also do it with their outfits as well, or used to more. Like if Moa and Yui wore red skirts Su's would be black. However Su looked the other two would be styled in an inverse.

I also like to think it's a stylistic choice symbolic of their positions in the band, with Su being the lead and thusly the "center of attention", hence she is the only one with a high ponytail almost being her own version of a "crown". As for Yui, Moa and Momo, not only are they equal in being the support and dancers with matching styles, but the pigtails actually add flair to their appearance to just as easily keep your attention while Su sings and they dance. If the Japanese music industry is proficient in one thing it's visual marketing, and these girls absolutely nail it!

Those people ignore the fact that this performance was extremely demanding, and many great metal lead vocalists out there wouldn´t even dare to do things like this. Not very Metal, eh? 😉 Su-Metal did such performances since their beginning, but Momo isn´t yet trained to do this (singing while doing intense movements/choreo). I think she decided to do it with prerecorded vocals, to give the audience the most perfect performance. A trained ear could hear that it is her (in person) singing and growling, so it is totally ok for me that she most likely did lipsync. In the meantime, she very likely did her growls live with the official live of "Ratatata". Almost nobody (besides Callie) noticed that...

After Yuimetal had to leave, things were chaotic, it was like their coming-of-age transition into adult singers/performers needed Momometal in order to become the mature and mega-talented band they still are today. And she's got a VOICE on her! Key Kobayashi made the right decision to wait and find the perfect fit for Yui's spot to do not only justice for Yui, but the entire BABYMETAL project as a whole. Between Yui's accident and later the pandemic, we followers of the Fox God were afraid the magic that was BABYMETAL might have faded away, but this performance proved those fears to be unfounded. i think that if you wanted to introduce someone to Babymetal, show them 4:15 to 5:00 and they'll understand pretty quickly what Babymetal is like. The way Momo can go from that growl/scream to her cutesy, high-pitched voice is really incredible and a massive contrast showing how she brings so much to the group. I also love how if you look at Su or Moa's renditions of Headbanger, they sing it very different to Momo. Momo's is special in that it's very staccato which I feel works well with her voice and is very unique. My favourite version of this song for sure.

Momoko Okazaki grabbed front and center that night and made it both HER style and gave the world a moment to remember. She has one of the sweetest singing voices I've ever heard, pure and sweet, but a switch gets flipped and Momometal goes from sweet and adorable to a death growl siren, she has mad, and I mean MAD vocal skills that are more than a lot of people expected from her, and she has range as well, I've said this somewhere else that if they utilize her vocals correctly she could be an amazing metal performer. Babymetal got the rarest of gems with Momometal, she became the living embodiment of talent, perseverance, skills, and heart. I will state this, I KNOW Yui 'Yuimetal' Mizuno is loving this version of Babymetal immensely, and I can see in my heart Tomato-kun is headbanging to this. I just saw them live on their South American run with Slipknot. 4:30 pm, broad daylight, short set (about an hour) and minimal production (not even an LED screen in the background). They still blew my mind, haven't had that much fun in a metal show in ages. Now it's pretty obvious that once in my life in need to see them in Japan with this kind of set up
