⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 Yes, BABYMETAL are great live, but I think it's fine that you're including music videos in your mix. Many of us saw the music videos well before seeing a live version of a particular song. And it's not like you're refusing to see a live version later, if someone suggests a good one. Even though Su has a beautiful soprano voice, I love that she sings a lot of this one in a lower register. That always sounds great. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits. There are lots of great live performances. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when this was recorded and the music video was released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was performing on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts like the girl in the song. : )

Nice one, thanks! The neckbrace is a tribute to Yoshiki Hayashi X-Japan's drummer, pianist, songwriter, producer and soul. He had to wear one by medical prescription due to the the cervical issues he suffered, caused by excessive headbanging. I've recently read that he needs a critical third neck surgery, scheduled for this October. The red moon in the end is another tribute to X-Japan, this time for the song "Kurenai" (red) and so is "Akatsuki" (crimson moon) as you already know. "Headbanger" or more properly "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" or "ヘドバンギャー! !" (Hedobangyā!!) is about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of the compulsory school in Japan so, young people need to make some relevant decisions at that point. So, it's actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a hint of nostalgia. Not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14. The general consensus is that it's way better live for many reasons: Su's live vocals, the Kami Band, the choreo, the stage productions, etc. The version from Legend 1997 is considered the most iconic. And then, there are the variations from Moa and Momoko's birthday related concerts (Legend-M and Legend-MM respectively) with them taking the lead vocals during the second half of the song. Unfortunately, we don't have a pro-shot from Yui's Legend Y and Apocrypha Y concerts. 🤘🦊

A few things on the MV vs live subject: - this MV is more than 10 years old now, and SU-METAL voice is even better now. - live doesn't have any studio magic - the Babymetal crowd is an integral part of a lot of the songs. The crowd response even evolves over time. It is possible to date the rendition of Headbanger from the what the crowd do 😊 🦊🤘

Good reaction. The official videos are all good and worth seeing, but live BABYMETAL is better, so follow up an official video with the live and nobody will complain. If you've only been seeing compilations and fancam videos you've been led astray (I'm sure you must have lists of good live videos taken from the DVDs suggested in the comments in previous reactions) ... but GAnimal has pointed you the right way for the future ... and kiino001 has given you a great live version for the Legend 1997 performance of 'Headbanger'. 'Headbanger' was recorded in 2012 when Su was 14, Yui and Moa were still only 12. This isn't a Halloween song (despite the harpsichord which was the instrument you couldn't identify). 'Headbanger' is a song about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also about growing up. In Japan compulsory education ends at 15 so the girl is realising life will never be the same, she will no longer be considered as a child and her first 15 years passed by so quickly - so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. They use 'Headbanger' for special birthday performances. In 2014 at concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals half way through the song when Su handed them the mic and stand and took their place in the choreo. Only fancam video for these performances exist. With 20 being the official age of majority in Japan, so they become an adult, in 2019 Moa took over lead vocals again at Legend M celebrating her 20th - with a change of lyric to "this special night of my 20th" - for MoaBanger. Momometal was not an official member on her 20th birthday so at Legend MM we got MomoBanger on the final day of her being 20, the day before her 21st. The neck brace pays homage to the drummer, pianist and composer of the band X Japan. He damaged his neck headbanging and needed surgery - he had to wear a neck brace for a lot of the time since then. They have used the neck brace a lot in the BABYMETAL lore and have even had concerts where everybody in the audience had to wear one. First time at the Legend Corset (the word they use for neck brace), their very first solo concert, where 'Headbanger' debuted in 2012. Next was Red Night at the Budokan in March 2014 following the release of the first album and most notably was both nights at the Tokyo Dome in 2016 when 55,000 neck braces with white LEDS were handed out on day 1, another 55,000 with red LEDs on the second night.

Nice reaction as always. This video is from 2012 so Su would have been 14 and Yui & Moa 12. I've seen this lots of times and I still worry that Su's going to crack her skull open on that dresser 🤯 The normal go to live of this from this era is the Legend 1997 Apocalypse version. There's a remastered 4K version here kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJmqgIxqa7ShbsU Beautiful cat by the way 🥰

If you need a Halloween song, you could watch the Sakura Gakuin Pumpkin Parade (Babymetals origin group, as you might recall) performance from 2013. That year has Yui and Moa in it. Also, there are some really interesting videos out there of Su, Moa, and Yui reacting to some of their old music videos. They do Headbanger and couple others, I recommend reacting to those as well, they're so cute and funny.

Next step for Headbamgerrr is live at Legend 1997. Is always good to start at the beginning of a song with the MV, then of you see it live is great. With this song you also have a Moa, Yui and Momo version. But i recommend those after the Legend 1997 version.

They look very young because they were very young at that time. I believe they would have been 14-16 years old then. I am astonished by the audience participation level and control that such young girls got during their early live performances.

Su was 14 years old when the music video was released. Yui had just turned 13, and Moa would turn 13 a couple of weeks later. They released the music video on Yui's birthday (June 20th, 2012) and the single on Moa's birthday (July 4th, 2012).

One of my favorites of Babymetal. Not a fan of the repetitive "headuban" part, but I love the rest of the song. Awesome! Babymetal MVs are great too, it’s just their live are better. Always worth doing both wherever available! Also, *PRO-TIP* for “best live videos”: -> “For the Fox God” channel. That’s it, 90% of all our requests will be full-filled here, in HD, with live audio, with subtitles, and mostly no compilations or logos (a few exceptions due to copyrights I presume). You’ll find the following Headbanger Live versions: *Night of 15 Remix:* Lip-synced, full EDM dance version. *Legend 1997:* The “original” classic version. *”Moabanger” (Legend M 2019):* Moa’s 20th Birthday Special where she takes lead. *”Momobanger” (Legend MM 2024):* Momo’s 21st Birthday Special, where she takes lead (and goes Momozilla). 😂 All 4 of these are available from “For the Fox God” channel. Cheers! 🤘🦊
