+Chanelle FT well to be fair, they never were in front of audiences before hitting their teens (outside of small studio audiences filled with weirdos in early sakura gakuin days). There have been plenty of huge child stars before of course, but metal?...well, you got a number of things. a teen j-pop / metal fusion band with 3 female japanese idols hitting the top 20 charts in the west. They are certainly breaking barriers. God did bless them..well, the Fox god anyhow.

I like all of the edgy 'metal' fans in the comments. So many of you are trying to bash this because it isn't 'metal'. Their songs are infused with some J pop elements, sure. Doesn't make it that bad. They do it pretty damn well, I respect them for that. And if you can't, you should grow up and stop living in the hole you live in.
@nomusician47378 жыл бұрын
+Ascent To Zenith Earlier today a metalhead friend of mine hade "They're not playing real metal"-rant. I showed him a cover of Sis Anger I found and asked him if it was metal when a guy growled the same song. He was quite embarrassed after that. So..ehh..yeah.
@Evelina_4128 жыл бұрын
You understand it rather weirdly. A lot of people don't like it not because it's infused with pop (metal was mixed with plenty of genres before), but because the sound isn't very appealing.
@bonhzeppelin98828 жыл бұрын
+Evelina999 - by "sound" I'm assuming you mean the girls' (Yui, Moa) voices. I know some Metalheads just can't stand, and get past their little baby/child like, high pitched voices and chants. The music by itself, otherwise is just fine. =)
@Evelina_4128 жыл бұрын
Bohnzeppelin Yeah, it's the annoying voices and some of their songs are pretty watered down.
@bonhzeppelin98828 жыл бұрын
+Evelina999 - Not arguin' or being sarcastic but what do you mean by watered down? I'm a Metalhead from the 80's - 90's and Babymetal's stuff is like awesome Deja-Vu to me. I'm not up to date with much of today's Metal. I can't get past the Gutteral, Grunting, Growling vocals! =\. I'm just as puzzled by this, as are current Metalheads puzzled by Yui's and Moa's voices! xD

+Toughguysdontdance12 Definitely more DT than Queen... The One is very Queen-y tho
@OzziePete18 жыл бұрын
+Junjie ZEROCOOL No. Bohemian Rhapsody actually follows classical music format. We studied it when it was released in 1975 at High School for comparison to form & modern music. Tales of The Destinies reminds me of prog rock from that same era. Defined parts brought together with bridge & sequences tying it all together. TOTD is right up Mikio Fujioka's alley musically. He does Jazz Fusion but I don;t know if the other guitarist (Takayoshi Ohmura) or the bassist (BOH) could handle that. It's a departure from what they normally play very well. The drummer (Aoyama Hideki) would have to step up too, but his counterpart within Kami ranks, Maeta, does Jazz drumming so may be able to do it.
@Lungsy19888 жыл бұрын
+Ozzy Pete Dude, it's 10% Queen. 90% Dream Theater. If you don't know much of them, listen to their early 90's stuff. TOTAL inspiration for TOTD. Koba would tell you that himself. Even during The One, there's very John Petrucci elements in it. I'm classically trained too. Very obvious that it's more of a TD tribute, than any other band

Sis Anger is more Death metal than Black metal, I find it similar to bands like Beneath the massacre, Necrophagist and definitely Decapitated, just like Sam Dunn said in BANGER.
@Toughguysdontdance128 жыл бұрын
+Emanresu Yep. I can see the black metal touch you say but is mostly melodic death and even technical death. And yes, labels can be annoying, but sometimes are helpful if you want to know new music for example.

am I the only one who thought the breakdown in Megitsune sounds exactly like a Cryptopsy song?
@Toughguysdontdance128 жыл бұрын
Totally. Kind of "slug chug" style with similar gutturals. Also, could be any kind of general similarity between Megitsune and Phobophile, for example? Or am I crazy?
I feel like when they are talking about sis anger and "black metal", what they are actually saying is "extreme metal". It's pretty understandable, seeing as how they openly profess to have come from nonmetal backgrounds. From my perspective, the song is a pretty straightforward tech death-inspired song and doesn't have much to do with black metal. That said, it's still a nice little ditty. On another note, I lOVE UNBLESSING THE PURITY!!! :D

Corranhorn122 Nope, just thought you'd like it. I don't know much about the genres so I did a bit of research and found some interesting stuff. Also, It's kind of confusing to me when tracks w/only Yui and Moa are called black metal. wtf? I guess it's - again - their way of slightly morphing things and making them uniquely their own. I was around during the Golden (& Dark) Age of heavy metal in the 70's thru the 80's. Babymetal brought back so many great elements from that era. Awesome songs, Strong vocals and musicianship, the Shreddin' skilled guitar solos, etc. They even copped most of the chords structure from Master Of Puppets in one of their songs! It was a flasback for me and many others. The Jpop thing was ttly confusing @ 1st but I figured it out and the Girls are great performers. Overall, Babymetal PWNS!
