Yep. With Babymetal it is not always 100% metal, they incorporating many sounds, genres and metal sub-genres into their music, but they are still able to keep their own recognizable sound, that is what makes them unique, maybe one of a kind. Thank you for checking them out. And if you will review Metal Galaxy (which would be a awesome) expect unexpected. More to the point check out their another singles from Metal Galaxy (Starlight - Djenty metalcore, Pa pa ya!! - Trance Nu metal with taste of exotic fruit and Distortion - Trashy trance with pop hook) to get a bigger picture :)

Good reaction - and yes this is Babymetal doing Bollywood. It is definitely one of their songs that leans more towards the pop side of what they do, but they mix all sorts up and many songs lean a lot further towards their metal side than this. That is one of the things that keeps them interesting and unique, every song is different, they don't just follow a formula and produce a whole lot of songs that sound the same. Also make no mistake, their live shows have to be experienced in person for you to believe not only the quality of what they do, but how hard they go and how much effort and energy they put into every single song for the whole show. They are currently touring in the US in the lead up to the release of the new album and my guess is they haven't had the time to film any proper music videos, so they've used footage from one of the live shows in Japan and put a few special effects and the studio audio over the live footage - not for the first time, they did the same as far back as the 'Gimme Chocolate' video and repeated it with 'The One' and more recently 'Pa Pa Ya' and 'Elevator Girl'.

Yes, this song is _definitely_ heavier live, as anyone whose seen them this tour (including me) can attest. That's true for many of their songs, but this one does stand out. It's about what they emphasize for those different experiences - and their live shows are meant to amp everything up to 11.

My favourite band had been Dream Theater for a very long time. If you had told me that a „small“ band of Japanese teenagers with two albums would push them off the throne, I would have called you nuts. But they did. And I‘m happy about it, because music has never made me smile so much. A lot of metalheads can‘t cope with smiles or choreographed dancing in their Metal. And I have to admit, I was like that back in my teen years. Everything had to have an area of death and aggression to it. Only later did I realize how lame (and to be honest, ridiculous) that was. Don‘t get me wrong, everybody should like what they like, but let others do the same. A bit of fresh wind never hurts, and BABYMETAL surely are that. I‘ll take their aura of fun and positivity over death and aggression any time. Are they still Metal? Of course they are! I don‘t see which reasonable definition of Metal they would not fit into. Yes, the choruses are catchy and melodic, but does that prevent it from being Metal? They have duelling guitars solos, insane shredding, blazing speed, endless double bass runs... It‘s all there, maybe not all in one song and accompanied by unexpected influences from other genres, but that doesn‘t take anything away from it, it just adds. For the upcoming album they took influences from all around the world, one of their earlier singles included a Thai rapper. Their catalogue has always been very diverse, which makes it hard to judge them by a single song. I don‘t know what else you know from them, but if you are interested in getting a better picture, please watch a live clip of another song. „Road of Resistance“ (which was written in cooperation with members of Dragonforce) would be the obvious choice for metalheads, but I‘d recommend „Megitsune“ instead, because I think it better represents their music (as far as possible): kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3bbaGqearBqoNU

This is actually one of my favorites from Metal Galaxy album, but for me nothing beats the first album and the first 3/4 years of Babymetal performances. Still, the second album has two songs that I would really love to see you guys reacting to - one is one of my favorites of all, "Sis.Anger" that reminds me a bit of a mesh between Carcass and some Norwegian Black Metal band with both Moa and Yui (BlackBabymetal) singing and dancing it... the other is probably the most recommended song to any Metal fan starting on Babymetal: Road Of Resistance live in Japan... it's superb... I hope you get to check them out in more straight forward metal songs... Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them. BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. At the end of 2018 YUIMETAL left the band because of health problems and in 2019 there are 3 girls named AVENGERS that will take her place in a rotating manner. Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. Should you decide to do more BABYMETAL reactions in the future, you should be aware that KZbin will block almost all videos that incorporate audio. The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours. Just give us a countdown before you start playing it. The BABYMETAL fandom is very used to this way of doing things. ===== BABYMETAL ALBUM BABYMETAL DEATH (Legend 1997) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPGapeYnM51hqs Megitsune (Legend 2015) streamable.com/v7w18 Gimme Chocolate!! Love seeing a couple of metal heads being open minded to Babymetal. I’ve been a massive metal fanatic most of my life and listen to every sub genre of metal. Babymetal has recently become a band I can’t get enough of. I never like to try and push “metal” into a box, there is so much more to music then that. That’s why I love what Babymetal does and how everything from their first album to this new album is so unique and always different. Would be curious to hear your review on Metal Galaxy, as the name suggests the songs have such unique sounds from all over the world and I think is a really tight album! Yes admittedly not on the heavy side really, apart from a select few, but still has metal elements throughout and really interesting to hear how they’re experimenting with their music. 🤟 thanks for the good video though, decent reaction for sure.. will probably check out more from you guys!

To I think I used to give them s*** as I take everything bad I ever said back. Damn I love being f****** wrong. Rock on Ladies!! 🤘 __________________________________________ Note: If you want a heavier song then may I suggest "Karate." Fusion core I like to call this and it's really pretty amazing. "Road To Resistance" is their power Ballard and is really amazing live. "Akumu No Rindo" I'd say is probably their most metal song, my opinion. It really hits hard and is kind of haunting. "Akatsuki" is probably the heaviest for me on my heart. Not necessarily on my gut. ________________________________________ Meto Taro also has heavy elements of Irish folk music which doesn't have me complaining in the least. "The One" is probably my favorite power ballads. Their performance at the Tokyo Dome. Was one of their best live performances yet. Which Su-Metal even sings in English on one version. But really there's something for every one in BabyMetal now.

Yeah, the studio version goes pretty light on the heavy (so to speak), but I think the live version makes it heavier to the right amount (while still keeping the vibe). It has ended up being the _Metal Galaxy_ track I like most (we'll see how that goes after hearing the parts of the album not yet released), and while I like the studio version, it's more because of the live versions. Of course, the over all exoticness of it with that certain mixture might be what's pushing the right mental buttons for me. When it comes to BabyMetal, it's always important to keep in mind that they're not intended to be 100% metal. Kawaii metal is meant to be a fusion genre of varying ratios. Even from previous stuff, I love _Awadama Fever,_ and _Syncopation,_ and _YAVA!,_ which have a hefty pop side to them. :)

Keep in mind guys: this was a radical departure from their usual style. This song was specifically stylized to the background of the song's theme topic/subject. A song from this group which is much more emblematic of them would be *"gimme chocolate",* that would be a quintessential babymetal example. From there they drift more towards metal in "Starlight" or more towards j-pop in "Megistune". The band itself runs the gamut between j-pop and metal, that's why I recommend seeing the live "gimme chocolate" because that's the sweet spot between the two seeming contradictions.

Their songs from the Metal Resistance album are the most metal ones. If you'd like some more Babymetal song recommendations that leans more to metal, here's some : Sis Anger - Death Metal Tales of the Destinies - Prog Metal (Very Dream Theater) Meta Taro - Viking Metal (BEWARE - the vocal melody comes from a nursery rhyme. It's funny that you'd start your BABYMETAL journey with the poppiest track they've ever made. Even counting No Rain No Rainbow, which is a power ballad (and arguably power ballads like NRNR are a staple of metal albums for a long time), Shanti is the furthest away BM has ever done in terms of metal. For some reason, most fans seem to dig it a lot - which is fine. I don't like it as much myself. There's not a single metal mix in there, not the slightest hint at metal in Shanti, which I think is disappointing. I would expect a song like Shanti to have emerged from a group called BABYROCK. I personally believe this song would've been much much much better with a slight touch of metal in it - ain't that the whole point of the band in the first place ? The studio version has a timid pop-rock vibe to it and the drums mix sound like they've been digitally made. Thankfuly, live versions (obviously) sound better. We get real drums and heavier riffs, but the damage on the studio version has been made nevertheless. For metalheads I'd recommend these songs : BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance live official BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare with mischiefs of god intro BABYMETAL - Akatsuki live BABYMETAL - Megitsune BABYMETAL - Headbanger live Makuhari Messe BABYMETAL - DEATH live at Legend 1997 BABYMETAL - ijime, Dame, Zettai live sonisphere 2014

Nah. We have zero shame in regards to bands we like or dislike. We get flak for liking bands like Disturbed and Ghost and we will headbang to pretty much anything for the purpose of at least trying to give it the best chance to enjoy it even if it's not quite our cup of tea.

Fair enough! 😆 BabyMetal has explored many genres without fear. What could be. More metal than that? BxMxC LIVE kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn3SaYmYha9nr9U

Just an observation, if you haven’t been an international sensation, don’t tell them how to do their job.

It’s funny man you guy talk about what’s metal and was not metal and you are wearing a Ghost T-shirt you know Ghost is not metal

Saying that this song is more poppy than metal in not a lie and i am sure they are aware that ghost went to more radio/arena friendly sound. That does not make them bad. I am glad that these guys have open mind, respect Babymetal for what they are and rating this song on its own merits, metal or less metal :)

These guys really need to quit buying Metal T-shirts at hot topic and I don’t see prostitute disfigurement posted on the wall behind them and they call themselves metalheads
