Ahyeon is talented, and if her absence is truly due to illness, I hope she recovers before getting into all the madness of a debut Now, it was difficult to postpone the debut, the fans were demanding it and the market was waiting, apart from the renewal of BP. What I don't think is that Ahyeon's fans demean the other girls, making less of the song and her debut because she's not there. Each of the members performed their part very well and I think there was a correct distribution of lines. If Ahyeon joins, whose lines will be removed?

The wole Ahyeon situation: Honestly i think the reason why they pushed the debut back from stepember is because they hoped that Ahyeon will recover, in the end she didn't, and i think they decided to not delay the debut any longer, because of a) contracts of other members b) just a hype would slowly die more and more. They decided to debut them with a single, with originaly was suppose to be an album with couple of songs, acording to articles that YG was speaking to, they said that they secured NUMEROUS amount of trackS. And the reason why they aren't clear with Ahyeon situation is because they don't even know themselfs when or IF she will recover, thats why they never said clear that 1. She's on hiatus 2. She's leaving, and they never officialy stated that she's leaving, like they did with pre-debut TREASURE member Ha-Yoonbin Of course YG wants Ahyeon to comeback, because that would be massive hit to the group if Ahyeon wouldn't be in Babymonster, i think it's like Jennie would leave blackpink, she was suppose to be face and center of the group Yang Hyunsuk prepared this group for 5 years, he wrote his name under this group as an executive producer and main producer, we can say a lot bad about him, but i genuinly believe that he has strong plans for this group, considered the fact that, WINNER, IKON, TREASURE lost it's members he 100% considered the fact that something might happen to the member's health or mental health especially since they're so young So in the end i think, that YG still have hopes for Ahyeon's comeback, and as soon as she recovers and she'll be ready we will see BABYMONSTER OT7 comeback with an album (january, february 100%) edit: Yeah, YG confirmed that they don't have scheduled promotions for batter up, it just screams that they're waiting for Ahyeon, i understand, but at the same time kinda feel unfair for other 6 girls?

I think this is the most sincere reaction I've ever seen. It really gives a real insight into the group. She didn´t talk about comparisons, she didn´t mention a specific group at any time. Just said here is the essence of YG. She gave us two visions and that allows each person to generate their own opinion. I'm really sure they will explore different genres and concepts in the future. I loved everything about this debut, I don't see any problem of it sounding like a 2NE1 or BP song, it's their first song, let's give them time. Also, when BP debuted people said the same about them, that they were a version of 2NE1 and even released As if it your last, that was supposed to be a 2ne1 song!. I see people judging baby monster, saying that Batter up sound like a b-sidr of BP. And what's the problem with that? BP was exactly the same when they debuted and look at them now. There a lot of easter eggs in this song for us YG stans, there are tributes to BP, Big Bang, Treasure, Akmu, Lisa like you mentioned. Its the baby of the family giving an homage to their seniors and adding their flavor and letting the world know they are proud to be from YG. They will come out with ballads and R & B songs, I am sure soon enough but in a time saturated with very talented other GG- their strength is their YG DNA because there is a market for it. I feel nolstagic when I listen to it and my daughter who did not experience 2ne1 or BP now gets to be a fan too of the YG DNA.

I knew this group was coming, but I didn't really check out any of their pre-debut contents, so I didn't really know what to expect, even less have I picked a bias. Well, what can I say - it's always the rappers, y'all. I don't know why, but in most groups I instinctively pick (one of the) the rapper(s) as my bias, mostly even before I even know that this is their position, so just based off of visuals and vibe. My take: Personally, I loved the song. It felt like classic YG but with a strong (enough) modern evolution, so best of both worlds for my taste. Of course its amazing that ASA got composing and lyric credits on the debut, what's very promising for the future. The song has insane rap parts without loosing the vocals and individuality of each member in the song / mixing. Everybody got their moment to shine. Its obviously designed with modern sensibilities in mind (tiktok etc.) but I love that we also finally got a full 3+ min song from YG again. I even like the lyrics. Very confident but without coming across arrogant (I don't want anything but your heart), without looking down on the listener (I would never do you wrong) and even being inclusive (everybody ... We are the monsters of the world ... Let's run anywhere). If I had to critique something it would be that the second chorus should have build on and not repeat the first chorus. I'm also not happy that we only got a digital single. At least one B-Side would've been important in my opinion (to use it as chance to show a slightly different take maybe more vocal RnB focused). But overall very happy with the release. Of course I wish Ahyeon well and hope she can join the group later Ahyeon was marketed as #1 choice, most likely leader and center of the group, maybe the most popular member of them all. They obviously wanted her to debut. So having her not debut must've been a difficult decision. Maybe the first delay (from September to November) was already an attempt to wait for Ahyeon. Prioritizing health (if thats the truth) is the right decision. But everybody would've complained if they delayed the debut again (yet another group that YG delays into oblivion). So if you get bashed either way, then just debut them as is (it will be a success no matter what) and bolster your stock price as well as distract from your legal problems. As for the song itself: YG promised that Babymonster would have and represent the "YG DNA". So if they do something new for the debut, everybody would've complained that this is not YG. While staying true to their promise produces complaints that its nothing new. Again either way, YG gets the hate. We got similar situations with Blackpink releases. I think it was the right decisions to go with the YG style but modernize it just enough. We celebrate when other companies stay true to themselves and for example SM releases yet another SM-song, but its "cool" to hate on YG and their GGs. So YG will get the hate no matter what. They then can at least stay true to their own identity.

I super agree! it's either debut them now or wait until later to debut them with the same song. it will get the same reaction. everyone got a good amount of lines and it was a safe song to debut with. Easy to listen to. I actually like the song. They also have many more chances to do other concepts. my thing with yg is that no matter what, they will perform live well. I personally think YG stays the same bc they still provide something that other companies cannot. I still think yg needs more creatives and venture out more ( they keep everything in-house). but the magic of yg is the artists bringing their personality and talents to the music/performance. I think this debut feels very safe somehow. Very typical YG style with treasure vibes. But it isn't the end of the world. It's only their debut and they will have time to create their identity with time. I am looking forward to their performances or even dance practice! I heard people saying being safe and not distinct from debut will hurt their career as the competition is very tough in this generation. But it's a YG group so they'll probably do fine.

It's clear they have the YG dna engrained to them. I think they are and will be unrivaled for the whole 5th gen GG (even BG) They will be getting brand deals and ambassadorships within their first year. I bet they will also get invited to a lot of shows and events. YG will capitalize in everything for sure. The girls are already killing the game. Our future record breakers are here! Honestly my thought on their debut is the debut date was initially pushed back because of Ahyeon and they might've waited for her and they might have had a problem picking the songs because they might have chosen another one other Batter Up because it would suit the 7 members but then Ahyeon could not join the debut any moment soon that's why they changed plans last minute and re-do the plans? Re-record and choregraphy. But these are the story I've made with myself. And the longer YG would drag the debut date the more they would be hated but of course fans would not understand that. This debut strategy is still good they made an impact and they will more once Ahyeon joins. That's another reason that the group name would make a noise.

I am hoping the Ahyeon situation is why BM debuted with a single. Maybe they will comeback in just a few short months with a mini album or EP with all seven members. That’s my hope anyway.
