Wunderschöne und tiefempfundene Aufführung dieses perfekt komponierten Meisterwerks im relativ langsamen Tempo mit warmherzigen Tönen der historischen Orgel und mit sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Einfach wunderbar!

Masterpiece played by Maestro van Doeselaar in Groningen! Stunning combination, what can be better?

Groningen .... Erinnerungen .... Weihnachtszeit ....

You can really hear the tremolo mechanism going on this recording

To sing along with the (well-hidden) chorale: An Wasserflüssen Babylon There by the streams of Babylon Da sassen wir mit Schmerzen We sat down, sadly sighing, Als wir gedachten an Zion As we remembered you, Zion. Da weinten wir von Herzen. With all our hearts were crying. Wir hingen auf mit schwerem Mut And there with very heavy hearts Die Harfen und die Orgeln gut We hung our lyres and our harps, An ihre Baum der Weiden, Upon the willow branches. Die drinnen sind in ihrem Land, For captive in that foreign land Da mussten wir viel Schmach und Schand We suffered shame at every hand Täglich von ihnen leiden. A daily Degradation. ----translation from The Bach Hymnbook (click comment logo for more)

Few other composers made accompanimental voices sound as interesting or more so than the ornamented chorale line. I have also registered this chorale setting with a 16-foot reed in the left hand, and I'd sometimes forget to begin a passage or two an octave higher than written, resulting in suddenly humorous moments -- completely out of character for such sober and serene music!
