In addition to Big Bill and Frank, I'm reminded of an episode of God, the Devil and Bob. Imagine 100 fathers and 100 sons standing one after the next in a straight line. In each father's life, he will punch his son just once. The trick is do they punch as hard as their father, or do they pass on a softer punch? Bob's father passed on a softer punch. He was right to resent his father, but his father tried to be better than his own father. Maybe Frank's father didn't pass on a softer punch, but Frank sure did. And being better isn't always great or even good, but it is okay. And sometimes okay is okay.

This was the first real Bach i ever heard. I borrowed the Leonhardt recordings from my local library in the '70's and this canatata has always sat in my head for some reason, despite the numerous Bach I've heard since. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me when my Pop committed, and he was just as much of a bastard as Big Bill Murphy. I was hoping that he left a suicide note that have my dad apologizing for not only taking me and my family for granted for all those years, but for also making all our lives such a living hell. But instead, he just left with instructions of what to do, when he’s gone. *I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE, I WASTED MY LIFE WITH SUCH AN INTOLERABLE JACKASS, AS PETER DOUGLAS SLAUGHTER!!!!!!!*
