The way that mortality was viewed in the eighteenth century is expressed wonderfully in 'Ich habe genung', performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach. Death was seen as a deliverance from the earthly vale of tears, and as a chance to unite with your creator. So rather than being heart-rending, the music exudes a subdued melancholy.

De Nederlandse Bach vereniging is altijd subliem . Ik denk dat Johann Sebastian Bach het ook zo zou hebben laten uitvoeren . Deze Aria is subliem gezongen en georkestreerd . It's all about finally leaving this terrible world with all it's hardship behind to go to a better place. It is triumphant as well. @@aprilparkhouse4245 Correct. However, it strikes every modern native speaker as a misspelling. Perhaps the goal of this series is to replicate the original works as faithfully to the historic form as possible, in which case the original spelling does make sense.
