Whether a person shares Bach's Christian beliefs or not, it is deeply moving to see the result of such a deep and profound faith. I have known deeply faithful people of many different religious traditions and there is always something that sets them apart as, well, "holy" if I can use that word. I wish that I had such faith (sometimes when I listen to Bach I imagine, very briefly, that I do have such faith). However, when I see it in others I am deeply affected.

Same tempo as the Mauersberger recording, which I also love. About right I'd say. Voice is lovely. There are a couple of HIP recordings, slightly faster, also good. This is wonderful!!!

This is a great recording of "Mache Dich". One case where the full blown orchestra is better than the small assemble ( I like those type performances better).
