Bacharach is my absolute favorite place in the world! Such a serene and beautiful place with the friendliest people I've ever encountered. Really makes me wish my husband and I could make it to Germany this year...

I’m English born... why do I always get a strong sense of home and comfort when I watch these videos of Germany? Maybe like some time long ago my ancestors were from there? I dunno it’s weird but god I admire Germany! So beautiful! I wish I knew the language!
@andrewtang57614 жыл бұрын
Would you go to Saxony? That would be where probably many of your ancestors come from.

Coz, your ancestors are from there Also german and English architecture are same, landscapes are almost same, your culture same, your language comes from German and most of all your genes are same.

The historic village of Bacharach is a fine home base for exploring Germany's Rhine River Valley. Local guide Rolf Jung was once the headmaster of the town’s school. Today, his students are visiting Americans.

I will agree, this was one of my favorite stops on the romantic rhine! Charming, quaint, and a beautiful higgly piggly feel! Thanks for the great Germany guidebook Rick!

been there for a schooltrip. great memories. in the castle is a youthhostel. we slept in one of the towers. but you always had to climb the 432 (handcounted) steps up and down to get to town...

I like to watch videos about small German's towns because of their architecture.

Bacharach is beautiful! My wife and I were there last week and had a wonderful time. I can recommend the Altkoelnischerhof Hotel to stay and for dinner. The view from the hostel is well worth the short hike and the beer is cheap! Be aware that there will likely be quite a few 20somethings on the terrace making it a little less quaint than the video depicts...it is a hostel after all. ;O)

I like Rick's coverage of sights and history, but he seems a bit obsessed with low budget. I like to stay in a good hotel, with my own bathroom, big bed, porterage if I need it, elevator, even room service if I don't feel up to going out on a given day (I am getting up in years). On lodging, I have to give Rudy Maxa the edge for suggestions.

That's why Rick points out that his tours are for more vigorous people. I am also 'getting up there' in years (67), but like his idea of keeping in shape and getting to know the locals. I still hike mountains, and pass many that are decades younger on my way up. Haven't tried Rick yet, but intend to do so in the near future. I travel to Europe every year, independently, but stay in similar places. I also love getting to know the locals better that way. But we each choose our own 'style'. Good luck to you. Terry (in WI)
