That change in time at 4:04. I really struggle to notice when the music is about to change the time. Do you listen specifically for the bongoes? How do you identify these changes coming up with a song that you haven't heard before?
@MariusElenaBachata
@MariusElenaBachata 9 ай бұрын
You need patience in listening, if you listen very carefully, the song actually tells you what is going next. Of course, this sound simple for me to tell you after all these years of training BUT follow this tips to improve: 1. learn the basics of music theory (especially general song structure, what is a phrase, what is a period, and what is a cadence). The last one, cadence, is like the resolution of the period (it tell you when it finishes) and so you are ready for anything that comes next. Being ready, and having patience, you will be able to react almost instantly to what ever comes next. 99% of dancers rush and they don't have time to react because they already started the next move without waiting enough to hear... 2. a loooot of practice and actively listening to music. It's just like going to the gym. Hope it helps.

@@MariusElenaBachata Thanks for the in-depth answer. These videos have helped. I can keep count well generally but struggle to react to any changes in time and irregularities. Hopefully it improves as I listen to more songs since I'm only 5 months into my journey. Thanks again 🙂

I think what would be really helpful I saw on a another video it had him explaining the musicality on one side the. He was dancing at one of his workshops to the song. I watched it over and over because it gave the information along with a visual of what do. I'm such a visual person 😂.

I find this very useful. I also watched your previous videos about musicality. I have a question regarding this song since the "bridge"parts last for 12 beats: how can you tell the difference between a break and a bridge? Also, could you please make a video about Centavito by Romeo Santos? It is a popular song with many breaks.

Love this videos 🤩🤩🤩, i'm from Perú , i like this type of content, like &suscrib can you answer me a question about musicality ? How we can recognize the breaks or bridges? Thanks for your help , and sorry for my English😥😜
@MariusElenaBachata
@MariusElenaBachata 5 жыл бұрын
The breaks usually happen at the end of the musical phrase (4x8)... Bridges happen a lot more rarely. You can identify them by the fact that they are, usually, different and shorter than the musical phrase before.

Hey, first of all thanks for having this channel! It's very helpful for me. I have a question about this specific song (my musicality is still not what it should be I have to say): the part from min 1:50 onwards (kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGa2kGmpirusZ5I). The text mentions that the guira shoud be really powerful, but I can't hear it all actually (only some sporadic effects indeed, but not the 1&2&3&...). Later on in the song I can hear it a bit though. Is it my ear that is not trained enough or is it really just not that obvious in the exact part I mentioned?
@MariusElenaBachata
@MariusElenaBachata 5 жыл бұрын
Hey. If the part is 1:50, than the guira is there... look for the ts ts ts sound (if that makes sense). At 1:57 right after he says "usurpadora" you have some guira accents but right after comes back to 1&2&.... so look for that and try to listen very carefully. Tell me if you succeed :D P.S. Thank you :D

@@MariusElenaBachata Still kinda hard for me, but after your confirmation now at least I'm sure it should be there and I'll keep listening carefully until I get more familiar with it and get to hear it more clearly. I had the same with the bass guitar at first (I only heard the other guitars clearly), but now that starts to get better already! Thanks again for your help, very appreciated!

@@stijnd186 glad to help. Don't worry it comes with practice in time... It took me a lot of time to be able to hear the instruments.
