I believe that Colton realized that after hearing her dad showed up to give her that talk, it was the producers that either let him fly down, or gave him a call and told him to show up. So Colton saying what he said was a big middle finger to the producers for potentially ruining their relationship. He basically just threw the last two episodes in the trash and now its either Cassie or nobody.

In a way couldn't the same thing be said about Colton? Seems he's realized for awhile he wasn't that into anyone like he felt he was with Cassie, it's sort of leading the rest on. Which I guess to be fair is part of the show, but Idk if this makes what Cassie did so much worse. (And imo I don't think Colton seems like he's ready to get engaged anyhow?) It could also be one of those things where you think you want something but you still have doubts, but you stick with it because you're hoping the more you stick around, the more those doubts surrounding it gradually die down? It could be even though they were dying down, when it came to her dad's opinion on the situation, it accentuated those doubts in her, or potentially added more. I dunno I don't think the situation is so black and white. (I'm not Team Cassie myself, but I've kind of figured for the past several weeks that she'll be the one at the end. I haven't been able to watch the past 2 episodes though too, minus watching these videos, so I could be lacking some context as well that you have.~)

Ferret Beana I agree it probably isn’t so black and white and yeah technically colton is doing the same thing but it is unfortunately how the show goes. It just kinda irritated me cause he asked for honesty and that if anyone wasn’t ready to make it known. And she didn’t when she had the opportunity so he fell for her thinking she was but she wasn’t. Maybe she comes back. I hope she does cause they both deserve a shot at happiness. I’ve tried to put myself in both shoes and it’s s difficult situation especially when you’re on tv and they both did what was best for them at that time it just sucks that it happened so far in. If it happened weeks earlier I don’t feel everyone would have a dramatic reaction like we have. But it was so late.

It does really suck that Cassie’s decision was swayed by her father. When you are in the moment with intense moments and have all of these strong feelings when it is getting closer to a breaking point... you seek advice from people that your heart trusts. My ex took advice from his parents and broke up with me because what “they saw wasn’t good enough”, but they didn’t even know me. Just like Cassie’s dad.. Colten did all he could to try and keep her mind grounded. If Cassie does love him like she says she does, she’ll come back. All in good time, they’ll figure it out. I don’t even like Colton and I feel so bad for him. Cassie’s dad really convinced her to end things. He’s all “follow your heart” but only if that meant breaking things off. If it meant being with Colton, EVEN IF they didn’t necessarily get engaged, he wasn’t about it. What he was saying was just illogical. “If you don’t know by now, you need to end it.” That’s total bullshit. They’ve been dating for like 2 months. Not wanting to get married after so short a time doesn’t mean it’s a bad relationship. It means you’ve been together for 2 months. Cassie is young, impressionable, and clearly vulnerable and susceptible in that moment, and he really used that. I mean, whatever, he’s daddy, he’s protective, but it felt more controlling to me. This whole thing was so fucking stupid. I’m disappointed in Cassie, I’m grossed out by her dad, and I’m confused as hell, why they even flew her dad out. Vermouth- black organisation yeah I agree to an extent. But just because she’s maybe not that mature doesn’t mean she doesn’t get to be in a relationship. She probably isn’t ready for marriage, and when she expressed that, her dad shot her down. Colton expressing that they don’t have to get engaged was a perfect solution to letting the relationship grow and giving her some time, which she needed, but those nagging words I’m sure weighed heavily on her, her dad basically saying “if you don’t know if you want to marry him now, you’ll never know and that’s your answer so end it.” I also think, regardless of age or maturity, a lot of people take their families opinions heavily into consideration, particularly their fathers. You don’t have to be a weak little girl to heavily value your fathers input. I see how upset she was by hearing Colton didn’t get her fathers blessing, and you see how quickly things changed after that. It wouldn’t be something I would personally value that much, but that’s me.

I completely agree w what you said about Cassie's dad!! So many other people are saying that he really helped Cassie out by telling her that you should have no doubts when it comes to an engagement, which is true, BUT not if you're only two months into a relationship!!! I doubt most 23 year olds would be thinking, two months into a relationship, I'm sure I want to be engaged to my s/o. I feel like the timeline really fucked over Cassie-- this is Bachelor timeline, not real life, so it's supposed to make good TV-- but be honest: would you be 100% confident in getting engaged to someone you've only been dating for 2 months and during those 2 months, your s/o was dating 29 other people?!? I sure as hell wouldn't!! I think that's why Cassie continued to reject him after he basically told her to forget the rules and that he wanted to just date her after it ended and not be engaged-- it's hard to trust someone who's still dating two other people who are very ready and eager to give Colton what he wants: an engagement (which he's made clear all season), and to trust that you're the person that they actually want to be with, even though you aren't giving him what he wants. Unpopular opinion: Okay I'm sorry but I'm literally laughing so hard at these comments saying how mad they are that Cassie knew she wasn't "ready". Let's be real..who would be ready for an engagement after only a few weeks anyway? I think Cassie is actually being reasonable by having doubts, and being confused...I find it ridiculous that this show makes the people guilty for not feeling "ready". This situation is literally the same as Peter on Rachel's season. Peter wasn't ready for a proposal because he knew ITS NOT NORMAL. Ultimately he couldn't give Rachel what she wanted and she ended up with Bryan, even though I personally felt like Peter was the guy for her...this show brainwashes the contestants and makes them think it's either an engagement, or nothing..because the show would be nothing if every season the bachelor/bachelorette ended up with a "boyfriend/girlfriend".

@@hannah090109 I think some people just feel like they need a middle emotion between "I care for you a lot" and "I love you" Like "I care for you" might come across as more distant? And "I'm falling in love with you" is more about you coming to terms with you feeling like you're starting to do more then just simply care for them, but aren't quite there yet? I think it's funkily worded too, but some people might just feel like they need to have that distinction? Perhaps saying that helps make it feel less awkward (to the individual saying it) to actually come out and eventually say "I'm in love with you." Because it makes it feel less like being in love with them didn't come out of no where? It could may also be something where if the other person can't say they love you back, it might feel like less of a blow to yourself, because you only said "I think I'm falling in love" vs "I know I'm in love with you." IDK just trying to think about why they might be saying it sorry. ahahah xD

Remember on the Ellen show he said "butterfly" when he thought of Cassie AND when asked if he was engaged, he paused and smiled and said "I'm the happiest I've ever been." HELLO!!!!!!!! Any other bachelor would've said yes if they were engaged without hesitation because that's what you'd expect, but since he's NOT, (because she's not ready) he said what he thinks is true: that he's happy he has her at all.

Anyone else remember the footage shown on the preview to hometown dates where a blonde (probably Cassie) jumped on Colton and was kissing him on this huge cliff side by the ocean? We haven’t seen it yet so it’s obviously proof they’re together in the end... I don’t think that’s in Huntington Beach tho It’s at 1:06 in the hometowns preview just incase you missed it

Why was everyone shocked when he didn't sleep with Tayshia? Did people really expect him to sleep with anyone on the show? The guy waited 26 years, and has been in serious relationships before, I think he could wait 2 more weeks and sleep with the one he picked after everyone else was gone home. There was no way he was ever going to sleep with all of them, and If this Cassie stuff didn't happen, we all would have known who he was going to pick anyway if he did sleep with her. I think people hoping to see when he loses his virginity are delusional. It's not as hard as some might think to just keep NOT sleeping with people, especially when you;ve been doing it this long.

I’m sure Colton did not intend to break “The Bachelor” cycle here, but I guess he did find the loophole that prevents the person of interest from getting engaged in the end and forced the producers’ hands (if your butterfly in the box theory stands). I’m strangely impressed. Does this change the rhythm of all other future “Bachelor” seasons? Maybe now there will be room for more realistic endings other than an engagement after several short weeks...🤷🏻‍♀️ lol

it's so upsetting that the producers flew her dad in but not surprising bc they've messed with colton like this before. like, in bachelor in paradise when they flew becca in while things were okay between him and tia and he has a full breakdown because he's still in love with becca. it was so evil for them to do that and evil again for them to do this. watching him in the other seasons gave me a really good idea of the kind of person he is which i feel like his season of the bachelor does such a bad job of. they make him seem boring, repetitive, and ingenuine when that's not who i feel like colton is, based off bloopers and those little moments that we see at the end of each episode. it's also so hard to see him pine after cassie when honestly, i feel like tayshia is the kind of relationship he NEEDS. but, i get it, yanno. love makes you irrational

Honestly, I don't think she has no feelings for Colton. Like I think she does have feelings for him, but like it's difficult at this stage in the process. When she went in there she wanted to go home, because she feels like she can't be engage after six weeks. And then afterwards when Colton start saying all those stuff, I think she was shocked and I think she did feel something in that moment, and realise damn this guy really loves me, that's why she is so conflicted and kept saying, "I am so confuse", and like second guessing the whole thing. But by that point, its very difficult for her, because she is stuck, if she stays, what does this mean for the other two girls, if she stays whats gonna happen, what about what her dad said, what does this mean for Colton on the show? And for her in that situations it was just an awkward position to be in. I feel like the fact she is conflicted, means that she does have feelings for him. But it's just a complicated and high pressure situation, it doesn't help when her dad keeps pushing this romantic idea, of love at first sight etc.

I agree with your theory, and think next week will be spent watching him break up with both Tayshia and Hannah before reuniting and having his fantasy suite finally with Cassie. They won't get engaged and will just date after the show.

Something about this... it seems very genuine to me. Like, I think these are both flawed people who may not have made the most sensitive choices here, but their feelings seem real. It seems like two people who are tired of playing along with the producer's games. Granted, I've only seen the recaps, but I do think the story here is true.

Everyone is so quick to blame Cassie, saying she 'played him' or that kirpa was right all along, and that's definitely possibly what went down, but Season 23 was the season of 23 year olds, and Cassie was one of them.. I'm not saying no 23 year old is ready for marriage, but I'm pretty confident that most aren't. She is young, she's only had like 1 other relationship, and I honestly think she just started to panic because things were getting down to crunch time. She was definitely panicking before, but when she heard her dad didn't give his blessing it just added fuel to the doubt fire, and then when her dad showed up and said that if she wasn't sure already then it;s probably not love, it just sealed the deal for her and she knew she couldn't get engaged. and to her that meant she had to leave, because that's what happens on the bachelor, and that's what Colton has been saying he wanted this whole time, so she probably felt it was unfair of her to stay. I think once she made that decision, nothing he could have said could have changed her mind at that point. She probably shouldn't have been on the show in the first place, but I think that's more on the casting than on her. I don't think she meant to hurt him or lead him on, but she panicked and there were too many signs pointing to NO for her to say YES. And I think he'll probably go after her, I don't think she'll come back.
