Randy Bachman I from my home town, Winnipeg, Canada. There were four Bachman boys, one had a stutter. Randy wrote that song to tease him and told him it would be on his next album. It was never intended to be recorded, they used it as a warm up song when they were in the studio. They were short of one song for the album. Their manager suggested they use it without the stutter……They quickly realized it sounded much better with the stutter left in. Good choice, it became a hit!

Great Canadian group🇨🇦 Randy Bachman was guitarist and songwriter along with Burton Cummings in The Guess Who. Formed BTO after leaving The Guess Who in 1970. Randys brother Gary stuttered and Randy did the vocals this way as a loving light hearted dig at his brother. The record company loved it! It went to #1 in Canada and the USA. 🎵🎵🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@davidmacgregor5193 Жыл бұрын
Not quite right, when Randy left The Guess Who in 1970 due to him having gall stones removed, the band were fully booked for months ahead, they couldn't wait for Randy to recover so he left the band altogether, later that year he released a solo album called "Axe", it was a sales flop. In 1971, Randy got together again with ex-Guess Who leader Chad Allan and they formed Brave Belt with Randy's youngest brother, Robbie, they released a self titled album that was also a sales flop. In 1972, Fred Turner joined Brave Belt, soon after recording Brave Belt II, Chad left the band and he was replaced by Tim Bachman. This lineup recorded what was supposed to be the Brave Belt III album, following the failure of the first two Brave Belt albums to sell well, Reprise Records released Brave Belt from their contract. After Randy's failure to get another recording contract with about a dozen record companies, he finally struck gold with Charlie Fach at Mercury Records. Charlie loved the Brave Belt III album, he suggested they needed a new name that was more in keeping with their hard edge rock and roll. Randy came up with Bachman-Turner, Robbie saw a truckers magazine on a news stand called "Overdrive", he wrote Bahman-Turner Overdrive down on a napkin and showed it to Randy, he liked it and a new band was born. Brave Belt III was renamed Bachman-Turner Overdrive in 1973.

Oh taking me back to 16,17 years old. "Not Fragile" & "Four Wheel Drive" were 2, of many 8-tracks, I had playing in my car back in high school. 👍 This is truly music from the '70s. Unfortunately at the same time there was this other genre around at that same time that ruined it for us. DISCO! But I was one of those rockers who wore my Mickey Mouse "Disco Sucks!" t-shirt proudly.

There is so much awesome music out there that we don't even know about. You will never hear most of it on the radio because of the corporate mindset. I find so much music by scrolling and surfing the internet. and sometimes by the music reactors. But the classics are always good to hear,
@KristinKali2 жыл бұрын
Well said John! You are right! I do the same thing.. I listen to so much music, and expose my kids to a lot of fun music. They are getting older so it’s so much more enjoyable to see them like musicals too! Corporations are all about profit.. the greed is killing talent & sometimes the artist dreams. Long live independent artists!

The thing was. The singer did not have a stutter. His cousin did and he put out music to dig on him in a light hearted way. The song was submitted to the label and they liked it just the way it was/ They offered to do a clean version without the stutter.
@swinetrek4 жыл бұрын
It was Randy's brother Garry who had the stutter not his cousin and the song was their studio mess around for setting levels in the studio and the vocals were just an inside joke. But when they needed one more song for the Not fragil album this is what they used.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but... this cut was not originally intended to be released because of the stutter. The Manager of the band was the singer's brother who had a stutter. The singer sang it like that as a piss-take on him, but the record company decided to release it. And so we have it in all its glory with the stuttering lines. And your reaction and comments were wonderful. Oneof the best reactors I've watched!
