What you think is the exhaust is actually the air intake for the air filter, the exhaust runs up the front left pillar of the cab. Old farm tractors had very similar air intakes, nice looking model, thank you for sharing.👍

Beautiful little model. Something very satisfying about seeing a miniscule facsimile of a real object. I thought it looked familiar - when you showed the livery options, the bright yellow one made me think of the huge semi subterranean RN ordnance depot at Dean Hill, in Wiltshire. The engines, including Hunslet 0-6-0 'Flameproof' diesels, were kept in the underground magazines.

Problem with insulfrog points and 009 is partly the short wheelbases and partly the dip in the frogs, which causes the opposite wheel to lift and lose connection. Pretty much all 009 layouts use electro points.

Bachmann has some slate wagons (as you British call them) in their Thomas narrow gauge line. Other wagons that would be appropriate for this type of locomotive would be any form of side dump or small flat bed wagon. You might even try to 3d print some with link and pin couplings, then you could use the other weight beams. Be more prototypical. Especially for a mine/tunnel operation. Great job as always.
@TheSynthnut6 ай бұрын
With DCC and a stay alive this should crawl even better. The native home of some of these was RNAD Chilmark which would make for an interesting layout. There was a transhipment setup from the mainline an roads to the narrow gauge which ran up a valley and into a tunnel network etc. There was also quarry track which ran along the road for part of its length. Plenty of bridges and details to model...

I've bought my first N Gauge GWR Large Prairie Tank Engine, of Graham Farish status. The track and controller are set up on my living room floor, and thanks to Alfie, I now have two open wagons and two closed vans to go with the Toad Van. The first nerve-racking test run won't commence till November, and I'm still suffering a nervous attack of the butterflies.

Sam. There is a Baguly similar to that model at the Bala Lake Railway. It's called 'Bob Davies' After the longest serving Guard on the Bala Lake Railway who died several years ago. Originally, he was a GWR signalman, I think at Wrexham. The diesel was, when built, a 'fire proof' loco and worked at an ammunition works(can't remember which one?). Several years later she was bought by the later Yorkshire Engine Company. The owner of the YECompany, Geoff Briddon, was a member of the BLR and after all the fire proofing was removed she was sold to the BLR a discounted price. At first she was painted all over Grey. Later she was painted Green with yellow ends and Wasp Stripes . When she first arrived at Bala she was only driven by the General Manager, Roy Hardiman, and Roger Hine, Chief Engineer. Because of this, she was nicknamed TRIGGER. This doesn't make sense unless you knew about The 'Lone Ranger' cowboy books and TV series in the 1950s and 60s. Still confused??? TRIGGER was the Lone Ranger's Horse. The Lone Ranger in the TV series was played by ROY ROGERS!!!!

Some years ago, I was acquainted with a similar loco on the 2-foot gauge Bala Lake Railway (not sure if it's a Baguley-Drewry). On the BLR, it was (and I believe, still is) a very useful and powerful workhorse, quite capable of hauling passenger trains if required. A lovely model, and handy to have on most 009 layouts, as long as they're set in relatively recent times!

Many thanks - yes, I really did enjoy watching this review! Your comment about the gearing being like a watch mechanism is interesting: actually, people have been making watches smaller than this for a lot longer than the model railway industry has been in existance - so why has it taken so long to manufacture models this intricate? Perhaps - to test the hauling ability - you could have attached it (with bit of thread) to your TT coaches. It is conceivable that, on a preserved line, if they needed their standard-gauge Pullmans to be hauled out of the shed for washing down or something, and no standard gauge loco was available, they might start up their reliable little Baguley-Drewry on the parallel narrow gauge line, to do a bit of 'rope-shunting' ... Look forward to your next video

Suggestion: you should turn the layout into a diorama that is a valley with the n scale track raised up like it’s circling the valley and have the TT track be at the bottom of the valley to make it look like it’s farther away, basically forced perspective. Blackstone Models made some HOn3 locomotives and rolling stock, but they’re rather pricey, and - at the time - there wasn’t any sectional track for them, though there were later releases of straight and curved sections.
