I have a Santa Fe desel locomotive 2 just like you show there. I had that for a very long time It's an old man now😆. Mine doesn't have the full shinny gray frame over the trucks maybe it did at one point but I have no idea anymore it's so old I don't remember if it did. it only has the half sides that go on the wheels bogey flames I have no problem putting them on in when they fall off. I have it easy for me thankfully I have a friend in my area 1 he offered 2 repair my trains for me. we go to train shows together I seen your products/kits at train shows almost everywhere I go.would be cool to meet one of you Bachmann guy's hopefully at the OMRA train show in Springfield Missouri next month. Bachmann is my choice of tracks love EZ Ho tracks. thank you

@trainboy7 alright, you'll either have to remove the bottoms part of the chassis block, (the plastic bit with all the licensing and whatnot) and then put the oil in the wheel gear, and it'll just get to the rest of the chassis on its own very quickjly, OR you could pop the face off, and remove the eye mechanism, and put the oil on the fancy gear with a curvy grove, but on the actual gear part, and then it'll quickly (but slower then the other way) get to the rest of the chassis :)

Thank you guys for the 'how to' I just bought a Spectrum 2-6-6-2 for a reasonable price. It runs so good I was curious how to keep it nice and smooth running unlike some of the other trains I have that stutter and squeal lol But you did use a 0-6-0 an easy one to work on what about my Big Boy and other articulates?! I'm afraid to even lift the thing up and invert it!@.@;;

Just got my first train set, since I was a kid. Really enjoying my new Bachmann N scale Norfolk Southern "Stallion" set. Great hobby, for these weird times. Thanks, Bachmann! Oh, but I do have to say, I'm pretty disappointed Bachmann didn't come out with an N scale FRED end-of-train flashing red light. Only comes in HO and bigger, from what I can tell. There are a couple other companies that have them, but would rather have gotten one that was made by Bachmann, for Bachmann. (Talking about the track powered one.)

@@ChrisHillmon u lube the bearings but the vid shows to oil the wheels where it connects to rail which if you do that only attracts dirty to stick to rails and also makes the weak 0-6-0 even less useful. That goes for all locos. Never oil the part that connects to the rail

The most important thing is to never, ever run your trains on the carpet. Unless you want them wrecked in a few hours. The electromagnetics of the motor and trucks are also magnets for fibers.

@BachmannTrainsUSA
@BachmannTrainsUSA 2 жыл бұрын
Our best recommendation would be to make sure the wheels on the locomotive are clean and the rails on either side of the plastic section of the turnout are also clean (there should be no greasy or black streaks visible on either). The plastic section is not long enough to create a short, but if the locomotive is struggling to receive power immediately before or after, it could create the conditions where a short would be possible.

How often should you lubricate your locomotive? (Week or month-wise)
@animalyze7120
@animalyze7120 3 жыл бұрын
They recommend after every 24 hours of use. From experience the lube will last a good amount of time but will always settle to the bottom of the side it's stored on and in the case of grease it can thicken or become hardened a bit. If stored for more than a few months I would always say to clean out and reapply oils and grease.
@mercuryoak2
@mercuryoak2 2 жыл бұрын
So what the comment said about I disagree with on storage . I've had it where am I locomotives have sat for several months and never needed much but maybe on the drive gear of a steam engine a little bit of oil. I've had my diesels sitting the same amount of time never had to add anything. Most of my things are from 50 to 12 years old granted I don't have much but still. What I would do is if you're welcome out of his sat for a couple months and it's a diesel take the truck cover off and look at the grease but looks good pliable not dry and the locomotive runs very well other than needing a wheel cleaning I wouldn't do anything to it. Same goes for a steam engine however the drive rods may need as I said before a little bit of oil that's it

How do you add new couplers on my f7a santa fe no.307? I havent used it in months
@animalyze7120
@animalyze7120 3 жыл бұрын
Couplers only need replacing when broken, however if they are a tad sticky or movement is stiff you can use some oil on the pivot part of your particular coupler. Kadee makes the best ones but will require you to standardize your entire consist to them if you make the switch. If yours are plastic couplers I would say upgrade them to the metal ones like Kadee.

Ok from the comments below I can see why these Toy train sets are still popular with mechanically uninclined people so I'm gonna nip this is butt from jump street. Take your Locomotives to your Local hobby shop or call Bachmann's tech service for help, if you have to ask how to do something on these trains then your best bet is call a professional. You can experiment on these trains like we did in the 70's as kids and maybe bust a few in the process but that's how you learn. These days these overpriced toy grade trains really don't make it a viable option to experiment on them and unless your income allows for learning mistakes replacements call a pro, it really is that simple. Most of general maint on these is simple and should not require the amount of questions as seen below but today is a different age and basic mechanical skills are all but lost on people, sounds harsh but reality is real. Call a pro or learn by doing, it all comes down to your disposable income in the end really.
