13:39 min Margot Oitzinger the contralto hus such a beautiful warm voice. Noble color and timbre. So perfect for Bach. She would be wonderful singing te alto solo cantata's from Bach. Thank you for sharing this beautiful music. 🌹

Margot Oitzinger is a wonderful baroque singer, with a deep and straight voice like I expect for Bach or Haendel ...

4:55 - Trumpets playing the theme in the dominant key just bars before the ending in the tonic - one of my favorite moments from the Bach cantatas.

I heard the theme of the alto aria before. Does it come from another artwork from Bach ? The recorders are a bit too far from their microphone ...

No - it comes from our humanity. Why is that you believers always have to proselytise and preach?

The trumpet arpeggio in the chorus (e.g. at 18') was tormenting me....then I found it, in Gavotte II of the orchestral Suite No.1 in C BWV 1066. Hooray!

This is actually one of my favorite Bachstiftung recordings. The performance and recording are fantastic, the chorus in top voice, the acoustics phenomenal, the composition surprisingly high-end for a political effort by JSB. However, the break for ads in first movement interrupts the cadence everytime, please fix.

As a resident of Leipzig, I was very pleased to realize that I'm being addressed when the tenor sings "Wohl dir, du Volk der Linden". (Leipzig/Lipsk means "settlement where linden trees stand".) Thank you for this beautiful recording!

First played in Leipzig nearly 300 years ago - Preise, Jerusalem, den Herrn (Praise the Lord, Jerusalem), BWV 119, is a sacred cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach. He composed it in Leipzig for Ratswechsel, the inauguration of a new town council, and first performed it on 30 August 1723.

Very nice job, as usual. The bass, tenor and alto voices could have been mixed a few louder.

A minor correction. The title in the notes reads "Johann Sebastian Bach - Cantata BWV 30 "Preise, Jerusalem, den Herrn" (Praise, Jerusalem, the Lord) " you meant BWV 119, I think..
