Nice job! I totally understand the fear. I turn that into intensity! I have a thought and would like to see what you think. Do you think its actually progress when we go up on weight and get less reps? Does total "tonnage" count. For example your arm workout you did 85 for 11 reps 85×11=935 vs 90×7=630. Is that progress? In this scenario you have to get 10 reps to be progress. What do you think?

Total tonnage doesn't matter. Your muscle gets used to the weight, so you can do more. That's why you could easily lift a 10 lb weight 100 times, but that's not going to be as optimal for hypertrophy as lifting heavy. Humberto, a frequent guest on the IconoCast, says a lower rep range is best. He's mentioned that failing at 5 reps is better than failing at 10≤ reps.
