Here in the US we have a rope and pully on a boom arm attached to the scaffold. Just hoist up buckets of mud. its a little old school but works well on a tight site when you don't have a machine to boom stuff up. Anything to cut down on the amount of times you handle material. Great to see you back.

i have used an electric winch and plastic flexi tubes before to get the mud up on to the scaffold

Definitely a pulley mate. Can even make them home made if ya got a spare/ broken Barra you can use the rim from the tire. All the best mate

Credit to you tackling a BIG one like that. The brickwork is looking really good too. A bit concerned about that safety issue though at 8:24. A few planks missing with no safety rail. Please be careful because you don’t get a second chance. Thumbs up to your dad too for putting in the hard yakka 💪🏼

So glad to see you back. Was definitely wondering where you were. Also we’ve had a double with 30000 bricks and a granny flat aswell. The good thing about doubles is you get some good solid walls,but along with that comes challenging things like cascade flashings. And I feel you when it comes to getting things stolen,just yesterday I had 2 bracket pieces and 2 mud boards taken. And tips in relation to labour on a double story You gotta use an elevator and pump up a lot of bricks and get the whole top story loaded all around. Then to get mud you can leave a barrow up the top and get a man to pull up buckets via a pulley system. Or use you elevator to get the buckets up. Definitely don’t bother walking buckets up the ladder,you should use a pulley. Labour wise singles are much better, but if you have a double that has good access then it’s not so bad,just try to do all the mud at once then focus on laying.

Try find yourself a small pop up gazebo to keep the sun off you a bit, try strap it to the scaffold, looks a bit tight but I'll using mine more this summer, heat kills me lol

Looks some nice straight runs, I like timber framed work, not alot in the UK, seems to be coming more common tho slowly, I bet nice not to have to pick up a block lol 👍👍looks too warm🔥🔥🔥🔥

Timber frame unfortunately I can’t see being too sustainable for the future. A lot of steel frames starting to be used more commonly throughout the place here. The good thing about these double stories are the straight runs and you can make some money on the bigger jobs so long as you can be efficient with carting mud and bricks up. The weather is starting to cool down now though which I’m keen on!

How much is the rate for quilified brickies and labourers atm in Melb buddy? Good video!
@hendosbricklaying20032 жыл бұрын
I would say for a good trowel anywhere between 300-450 as really general average. $40 / hr around that mark
