Another educational and entertaining video! I learn a little bit more with every video I watch with you and "Momma"! Why do use 1" pvc (20' sections) instead of a continuous length of "poly" pipe on these solar pump installs? Thanks for the education and entertainment!
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Well I don’t use much of the roll pipe like that. The sticks are easier to deal with and more robust. All that is my personal opinion tho. It hurts my back pulling roll pipe out, so I set it up for the future in case I ever have to pull it. Thank you for your kind words and for watching!

Great to see that much output from their well. I only get about half that much. Of course my panel is 15 yrs old so I'm wondering if it will do better to upgrade the panel. Thoughts? Great video y'all. 👍😎👍
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Yep! You can check the voltage and see. They lose a little every year. Panels have gotten better every year. That’s so cool that 15 years later it’s still doing its thing. Thank you for watching!!!
@steventiry87014 ай бұрын
You may want to keep an eye out for a hand auger(not motorized) to cut through that Oklahoma clay. I have only seen them in four and six inch augers. Making the hole bigger is easy after that. The red clay is not as bad as the brown clay in the northeast part of the state.
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
I actually think there was s an old one hanging in that barn! Rounded tip with a cutting edge? Maybe 1” pipe as the handle? It was old! They were around for many years! Thank you for the suggestion and watching!

I wonder why you put in a pole for the panel when you have a tower you could bolt it to. And love your videos! All the best on a lovely spring day from New Zealand
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Great question! So I try not to have any part of the solar system in contact with the windmill tower just in case of lightning strike. Or take precautions and grounding, but it’s never fail safe. So, we keep everything separate. Thank you for asking and for watching WAY down in New Zealand!!!!! 😀

I see you using a chipping bar to loosen the soil for the post hoe digger. Would using a long 1/2 inch or larger bit to loosen soil be easier with a hammer drill. Before Using the post hoe digger? In hard soil.
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Maybe! There are only so many tools I can cary on the truck tho. This is the first hole(of many) that I had a hard time with. Good suggestion tho!!!! Thank you!

Ever think of getting a small gas powered auger drill. Quick and fairly inexpensive?
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
I have one but just never mind digging by hand, but doubt it would have worked here. Would have been awesome to have with me while there tho to try it! I would have tried anything! 😀
@montylatham7394 ай бұрын
It didn't show putting in the ground rod but you said you drove it in. I put in an 8' ground rod without a sledge till the last 1'. Jab the rod into the ground add a little water then jab some more, repeat. After a minute the rod will go in with just it own weight by up and down motion like rig.
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Oh good idea! Yep this one was just a 6’ rod luckily. This ground is soooo hard, should try that next time!!!!! I start with a t-post driver, then finish with a 12 pound sledge. 😀
@fillg4 ай бұрын
Would one of those small gas powered augers do anything for you for digging holes or is the ground too solid?
@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
Normally they would work fine, I just don’t like using them……. I have one, and highly doubt it would have worked in this situation. My sharp bar was having a hard time getting through it! Crazy!!

@OkieWindmiller4 ай бұрын
I have one, but man, it seems like if it’s not soft or sandy, it won’t dig! I even bought a 2” bit to start the holes with, nope! I e replaced the teeth and everything. It’s not the gas auger, it’s the ground. Although, if the ground is somewhat moist(any at all), it does fine. But this compacted dry rocky clay is crazy right now. Thank you sir for watching!!!!
