While I don't think the gold to crypto exhange will be a direct and immediate transfer, I do think it will be indirect, such as first turning gold into cash, and then later buying crypto, without a concious decision to favor crypto over gold. Maybe the cashout happens upon estate liquidation, or after recieving it. ALSO the boomers may sell their precious metals while they are using their retirement savings, and if newer generations aren't buying bullion and jewelry as much, the hope for gold appreciation would have to be other countries/cultures or severe instability.
