I’m a little older then you. The 80’s was turning grungy about midway through. I knew a lot of girls who were vampires. So many. A lot of goth. I listened to the Cure and David Bowie. By the end I was wearing a lot of vintage clothes. I’m still listening to all the music. I love this tag! Love the decks you chose.

Me too. I was a big fan of the Clash and REM, and I loved the Cure as well. I did a lot of shopping at thrift stores too. It was a very eclectic decade.

I was born right at the beginning of the 90s, and this was so much fun! I think it was a great decade and I wish I could have experienced it in more depth, cause I was so young back then. To this day I still find (and sometimes purchase) decks that my younger self would have adored, even if it's no longer my thing, but they do connect me to that old me so it's a great experience. Thanks for sharing 💖

I was born in 1979, so I was a preteen then teenager throughout the 90's. My favorite music is still from the 90' s too! The deck that I have that represents the 90's most is The Grunge Tarot.

The 90s is also My decade, born in 79. I don't have the serpentfire deck but that's a real 90s deck for me. With its bright and crazy collages, playful light and so on. I was totally in Hip Hop Music and Rap, and I sewed my own bright and heavy patterned clothes. My Queer Tarot gives me this vibe, in the colors, in the clothes that are shown with these patterns and in the feeling of 'you can be everything that you want'. Also the next world tarot which tells you to stand up for your rights. I especially had that vibe in the 90s. Oh and I can remember I started to be interested in crystals and gemstones and mandalas became very popular.

I just went and saw a nirvana cover band last night lol. Born in 80. This tag is timely. I think I’m having midlife crisis lol. The nineties were just so awesome. The Black Lily is very riot grrrrl to me. Very Tori Amos and Bikini Kill. I would put the Royo Dark tarot in this!

I miss the 90s! LOL The Hardy Tarot totally gives me those amazing fantasy art novel cover vibes - Wheel of Time basically LOL! The Ciro decks always remind me of the sateen printed shirts with fantastical dragons and things on them. You know I wore the crap out of those, absolutely. No shame. I may have to do this tag! Do you have any decks that were created in the 90's in your collection? If so, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts about these decks back then. Ciro Marchetti's "Gilded Tarot" was released in early 2000's and was my 2nd tarot deck that truly guided me through my 30's. I know this isn't the deck you showed in this video, but some of the younger readers/collectors think this deck is from the 90's. In the 90's, I was in my mid 20's and have a completely different experience of that genre. I'll be featuring a live discussion with three other tarot readers/collectors about Traditional and Contemporary tarot decks next week. I hope you can catch the discussion. Huh - I wasn’t into grunge and don’t remember the 90s that way. I was in my 20s and entered my 30s, and for me it was the energy of office jobs and wearing my new matchy pantsuits and jewel tone colors.

The 80s were not excessive. I really hate that people that weren't really old enough to understand say that and even those who are try to make everyone believe that. But I did love your decks. All of them have a story and you tell your view of it well.

That is true, but I think it really does depend also on where you were and what you experienced during that time. Like most things in life, it is subjective because what is excessive to one person may not be to another. :)

@@DawnMichelleTarot I also think some of it was seen that way because we were breaking norms. Like some of the younger generation today. I experienced sexual harassment before it had a legal term. And we fought it. I married in 1980 because it was what you did. In the late 80s I was divorced and lived with my bf because I saw no need to marry. In a lot of ways we were still fighting the old "rules" and I know the older generations had hard times with adjusting. I bought my first house in 84 at 13.5 % and other had it even higher. Not all was easy.

I agree I think it was such an important time! So many of the things we are still working on today as a society were kicked off during that time. Also, some fantastic music in the 80s too! 😀

I also see the transferring Element in this deck, for me off course the change is in a different time of my life and year in the 90"s I was in my 20's great time to be a live ! I love this tag! I was born in 1993 so my 90s memories are very much filled with pokemon and power rangers 😂 now i kind of want to get the friends tarot because I have a lot of memories of watching it with my aunt when I was little! The tarotwave tarot deserves a shot out in this tag too, I never see anyone talk about it but it's so good at capturing the vaporwave aesthetic and feel. I would also include Cardcaptor Sakura's Clow Cards, technically not tarot but definitely inspired by it and as a kid i had a physical copy of the cards and they felt magical asf to me hahaha my little witchy self was living her best magical girl life playing with those!

Thanks, that was fun! I’m nearly 20 years older than you so my experience of the 90s was quite different BUT you’ve inspired me to take a look at my decks through the lens of Phases of Life if not the decades per se since I flew through a ton of phases moving cross country multiple times, etc. 😂
