I have been to Singapore 3 times and I always loved it there. Obviously The Marina, Gardens By The Bay and Merlion area is the best part but it has other places that is worth visiting around Singapore like Chinatown, Sentosa Island, Little India, Singapore Botanical Gardens, Sultan Masjid, Clarkes Quay and The Jewel shopping centre at the airport

This might surprise you, Boat Quay is pronounced as Boat Key. The reason it's pronounced "key" is that the modern word is a variant of the Middle English key/keye/caye, which denotes a "wharf."

Actually a wharf is an anogram for WareHouse At River Front. a Quay is just a stone or concrete landing space into a body if water. But yes it's spoken as Key phonetically....but is not the same as a wharf

There are cheap hostel or backpacker hotels that are slightly below the price that you stated. But you usually have to book weeks or months in advance.

Backpacker hostels, in whichever country, it'd be better to go for those on the mid to higher end of the hostels' price range, so that you won't be in for nasty surprises, such as bed bugs, cleanliness or intoxicated noisy backpackers coming back in the dead of the night! I would usually spend time to read hostelites' reviews to get an overall feel of what the place and customer service would be like before I booked a bed space.

Places to visit for the future: The Botanical Gardens (not Gardens by the Bay), this is a huge park, the Gallop Extension is a must see. All the Sky Gardens - CapitaGreen, CapitaSpring, Funan, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Design Orchard, National Gallery Singapore, OUE Downtown Marina Barrage All of these recommendations are for free places so it doesn't cost a cent to go there.

The service line has many foreigners though. And since it is a country without the need to tip, you will not get top notch service from the service line. Locals generally are quite good natured. Probably you don't have chance to interact with true locals.
