I did notice a couple of kids on blades in the background, which is always cool to see. I doubt blading will ever get back to the insane popularity it had in the 90s and early 00s, but it's cool to see kids trying out blades again.

Just posted about this in blade dad Facebook group. Skate parks have become playgrounds. When we grew up a skate park was fast fierce and if you didn't know what you were doing you either found out fast crashed or got your butt kicked. The other day I drop in down a quarter pipe and instantly smashing to a little girl who decided she was gonna sit down and play at the bottom of the quarter pipe. Skate parks are a great place to skate when you know how. They are absolutely not a place to learn how to skate it is a place to practice and develop your craft not explore and learn it. I'm tired of skate parks being over run with children who do not skate and stand or sit on all the obstacles and then when I do run into their kids I have to have a talk with skate park mom and explained to her why her daughter shouldn't be here. It's gotten worse and worse as we have gotten softer as the societie. My home park was maximis in Cambridge Massachusetts, it's featured in hoax two and even there they mention you pick your spot and fo and if your in somebodies way expect to get dropped . I'm beyond sick of this. Have gone back to skating street 98% of the time again as a result.

My local park used to have an attendant who checked to see if you had a city park membership, and this guy enforced a strict set of rules. Now its a free for all with kids, parents standing around watching their kids, and even dogs running around.
@intoinline22324 жыл бұрын
The park I favor has a pretty heavily enforced helmet rule. It seems restrictive, but it actually keeps all the young kids away, as well as their parents because NO ONE is allowed in the fence without a helmet, and parents aren't about to buy a helmet to stand and watch their kids use something that isn't a playground as a playground. Also people should wear helmets, in my opinion, so I don't mind. The best park in the area is not skateable because it's all little girls in tutus running around the bowl while their parents take photos - should NEVER put a skatepark next to a playground. I have noticed any park that is mostly by itself is fine - if they are near other public areas they just get overrun immediately. I've honestly started lowering my shoulder - I was mid spine transfer and nearly took a kid out scooting across the flat - my next attempt same thing happened but I just said "screw it" and plowed through the landing. Now he'll look both ways.

I struggle with the whole how to teach skate park etiquette thing often. I feel the pain. Sometime it's not possible to teach. Other times I find myself yelling, "coming through, COMING THROUGH", which usually gets people noticing me ^_^ -- btw, fun park!

I am right there with you on the whole skate park etiquette thing. Their needs to be some basic guidelines at each park to refer parents and kids to (like a public swimming pool). It really is in the best interest of the kids to understand how to look for lines in parks when others are using them. My biggest pet peeve is when kids sit on skate features or stand in the base of a bowl. Unless you fell and are getting back up, you should neve stay in or on a skatepark feature.

Scooters ruined skateparks fact. Parents sending their 2 year olds down transitions and not even watching them as they almost die with little to no pads

I'm 32.. when I was young and skateparks were very few and far between, it was understood that you had to have a certain level of skill and etiquette to be in the park. Why do these little kids who can barely roll around need to be in a skatepark?? They can roll around the sidewalk or bike paths.

There really needs to be an understanding that skateparks arent a place for you to dump your children. It just isn't the place them to just cruise around, not paying attention. People arent endangering the children, the children are posing a danger to people using the park for its intended purposes. I was getting irritated just watching this. The parents just dont get it, apparently.

Most skate parks have a sign that says something about skating at your own risk. I'm sorry but if I run somebody's kid over not my problem. The second anybody sets foot on a skate park they assume responsibility for anything that happens to them.
