Back In The Repair Shop Sorting The Brakes On a London Double Decker Bus | Routemaster Skid Pan.

We are back in the repair shop for this episode replacing a footbrake vale on one of our London Buses, but getting to it under the cab floor proved to be very difficult. Then it was out to our makeshift skid pan for a bit of fun.

Glad I found your channel chaps, great content and beautifully produced , although I'm not that much into buses but vintage cars and of course I know the same quality engineering .Impressive braking power for such a grand old lady but I suppose they'd need to have plenty in hand with a full load of passengers.Good to see young Tim taking up the slack in preserving and knowledge of these marvellous iconic vehicles.Already hooked on the music !.

Would you not need to fit new copper washers on the connectors taken from the old footbrake valve when fitting them to the recon one?

I would if only for peace of mind! Never reuse small parts like washers where brakes are concerned, it isn't worth it, especially on a bus.

In between times not filmed I had annealed the copper washers before refitting. Normally we would allways use new but we had run out of that size so annealing was the next best option. Best Wishes

on these mechanical videos (there are many mechanical video channels on youtube) i watch the videos to see the mechanicals....it turns out to be a lot easier to make videos of talking heads and human torsos than it is to make a proper video showing the foot brake valve and where its located and the attachment bolts and the removal/reattachment of the hoses etc, and the interior of the valve components etc.....but those are the bits that the interested viewers are generally interested in and want to see because we never have an opportunity to see these things in real life.............and the more challenging it is to get a proper video of the actual mechanicals usually the more popular is that episode....standing back 10 feet from a bus and getting videos of the back of a man's jacket and shirt is just not worth watching. the better mechanical channels have 150K to 250K subscribers because they take pains to concentrate on showing the mechanical details rather than on talking heads talking and the backsides of arms and shoulders..... some of the best mechanical channels like Paul X have no talking at all, just brief captions that are succinct and to the point.
