Thanks. I started filming this which I thought wouldn't be as awkward as it turned out. I've since donw 185 miles without any trouble. Same with the Scott - no trouble - no funny noises but with the Cube there is still sometimes a clonky tick from the back wheel which has been coming and going for twelve months. Cheers.

Hi Gary. Oh yes, if I'm doing anything it usually ends in chaos. But it makes for a better video I suppose. Cheers.

Hi Derek I've only just found this one, and I'm glad I did. I must say I was amazed how easy you got the new tire on the new wheel, they can be a real pain. This was a new direction for you, putting a face to them dulcet tones. Shed & bike life with Derek Taylor every Monday night at 7pm, I'd watch it! Really enjoyed it, very educational, some really funny bits, but the pace and tone throughout was just spot on, Derek, you're a unassuming star... no question. How strange regarding the chain swap? I've also got this intermittent cloncking from somewhere on Frank? I was screaming at the film for you to loosen the caliper and reset for the new back wheel and disc, did the rubbing noise stop? And yes Spender at the end racked My brain for around 30 seconds before I remembered. Cheers Derek, love to Helen

Hi Daron. I thought my fizzog on the screen might frighten people but that's a chance they take lol. So far the chain off the Cube which I've put on the Scott has been trouble free. 180 miles covered in Scotland without a clonk or clunk so what was wrong I haven't a clue. And yes, the music from Spender doesn't come up on a Hi de Hi phone music finder app or whatever it is. Glad you liked the video. Hope you and Gale are keeping well. Cheers.

Another great 'real life' video that we can all relate to! That music at the end of the video is very familiar. Is it from an eighties TV series? Can you put me out of my misery?!

Hi Derek hope all is well with family and a very enjoyable video as usual . I asked an electric bike shop Saturday about overall mileage for the motors ,and they said mid drive motors bosh shimanno brose and yamaha can do 5 thousand each year with a yearly service and software updates and go on to many thousands there after . I don't know if that's definitely correct but there must be some truth in it some were. Hope that helps 🚴‍♂️🙂👍

Hi Trevor. Thanks for that. Well so far the motor on the Cube has not had a service. But what is a service? It's not as though it needs an oil change lol. What can a service be. New bearings and pollen filter, but I wouldn't know how to start removing this motor. Or would the bike shop do that. In my case they'd have to I suppose as I'm known as 'Derek The Destroyer Of All Things!' They say that a modern gas boiler needs servicing every twelve months. Well I used to fit them and believe me they run so clean that they can go years without servicing. You can only make things worse by messing with it. A case in point. My mum and dad's boiler was brand new in 1988 when I put central heating their new bungalow. I finally serviced it in 1997 whilst a Corgi Inspector watched. Apart from a unhappy looking dead moth, it was clean. So I washed the burner in soapy water and put it back just to please him. He asked me if I was fitting a new thermocouple for the pilot light. I said no as some I've replaced have only lasted 12 months. The bungalow was sold in 2012 still going strong with its one and only service in 1997. But we are talking about an electric motor. Yes, but hang on a minute. This motor on the Cube is not like an electric drill - is it? Electric drills spin at an incredible rate and get really hot whereas the bosch motor on a bike turns really slowly in comparison and when you're free wheeling it isn't turning at all. It also remains quite cool even after climbing a long hill in hot weather. So you'd think it would last forever. And a software update!!! What does that do? Is it really needed? My super slow laptop (sometimes it is) is always updating. Why? Not a clue as I can't see what's been done. Except my curser vanished during one update which was annoying. I had to resort back to a mouse. The update had turned the curser off. Our Matthew managed to switch it back on again in settings. So I think I'll just leave well alone until something goes - bang! or there's a scraping noise or something. Thanks for the info and if anything it's made me feel a liitle better about motor life. Hope you and your family are well and are not in need or a service lol. Cheers.
