Trinity Dairy

Күн бұрын

As the title entails, Alan is back in the silo again and getting the silo unloader ready to run. The Van Dale Silo Unloader needs to be dropped in place and then hung from the hooks. After that, the cable is tightened again and slightly lifted up. It's a quick grease and oil job and it's ready to have all the parts put in place. After that, it was time to start it up and make sure everything is working as it should. The silage was coming down nice and smooth.

When I want to kick back and relax, which is every day, due to age & retirement I watch Trinity Dairy my favorite internet farm channel. Alan always provides ample conversation related to his current chore & what will come next. The kids are fun to watch playing, asking dad endless questions that he answers with a father's love. Trinity Dairy is a beautiful hardworking family farm. What I like is the size of the farm it allows viewers to experience so many facets from milk cows to raising crops, harvesting, storage, the operation & maintenance of farm equipment! The size of Trinity Dairy allows viewers to be a part of the everyday workings of the farm! I love Trinity Dairy! 🙂🙏

Those three young farmers of yours sure have a great imagination. That should result in some innovative engineering ideas like their father's some day. Those pigeons up in your silo sure like to decorate everything. I remember when I was a boy feeling a strange sensation on the top of my head. When I put my hand in my hair to feel what it was, I regretted it. My older brother said it was the way pigeons defend themselves.

I really like seeing that unloader work!! Now I know nothing, and will try to make the question make sense🤦 How does the mechanism work to keep lowering it? And the doors, you habe to open new ones as it lowers? That is so cool, Imcould watch that thing work all day!! I have seen Shane fight so much this winter with his do to the frozen silage on the walls, but I love seeing them work!! Looks like the little ones got a trophy tractor build going!! Thank you Alan for documenting the process sir!! Hope all is well!! 😁😲
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 2 жыл бұрын
There is a electric winch, on the silo, that is hooked to the unloader , and that is what raises and lowers it, and the door, yes you just open new ones, and keep working your way down. frozen silage is definitely a nightmare, in a silo!
@Pennies_on_the_dollar
@Pennies_on_the_dollar 2 жыл бұрын
@@trinitydairy Thank you!! I saw that winch, so you manually adjust that as needing while running the unloader? Sorry so many questions 🤦 I bet so, seems he beat and beat on the frozen stuff this year, I can see how that can be a huge issue! Thank you again Alan!!
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 2 жыл бұрын
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar yeah, once the amount of silage, coming down, gets really lite, then I just turn the winch on for a few seconds. The old winch, used to be in the feed room, and that just had a hand crank on it, but the cable broke, so I put the electric one on it.

Pretty cool, your boys all set and ready for spring tillage!! A Farmall running on John Deere green paint?? Why not.... There's always no better satisfaction to me then putting something together, greasing it up, flipping the power on and having it run good. Especially when it has been sitting awhile. How long you figure this silage will last?? 3-4 months??

I would bet, Alan, that you are enough of an electrician to be able to reverse the electric motor on your winch? When you are unloading and feeding out of the silo though, do you put the crank handle back on to count revolutions for lowering the unloader? Or is there a mark on the large belt pulley for noting revolutions...
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can reverse it, but I have to take the motor off to do that, right now, it's set for lowering, so when I need to lower it, I just turn the motor on for a few seconds, and when I need to raise it all the way up, I have a big electric drill, that I can hook to it.
