Glad you're back on the house build! Boy that really stinks that the OSB is the wrong size. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get things all straightened out! Not to much longer and you'll have a full roof overhead! I'm sure the kids will love to play in there!

If it's not one issue it's another. Brother you are amazing in trying to think how you can get it done. Yes this week is Thanksgiving, a d you have a lot of things to be thankful for. GOD bless your family and keep them all safe.

Green lumber is easier to nail in to than dry lumber. The nail gun shouldn’t have any problem. 😊
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Interesting, well something changed about the lumber, my other boards were #2 prime, and these were regular #2 grade. Nail gun worked fine in the morning and as soon as I started using the new lumber it had issues. Even tested it on a couple old boards, no problem, new boards, wouldn't drive. No knots in the nailing area, weird 🤷♂️
@flowerstoneАй бұрын
That is odd. I use Doug Fir here in Oregon. Not sure what species grows where you are or what you use. Maybe it’s stickier when green? You are doing great working out the problems of building by your self. Always better when there is someone holding the other end of the board. 😊

😂 funny, you said glad fall was back so you could wear you flannel shirts. I'm the same way and my wife gets tired of me wearing them. Lol. And she is the one who bought them for me... I geuss that means I wear them to death. But I love them
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Hahaha exactly, I feel you brother 😂 but seriously, I'd live in flannels all year round if I could 😄

As part of my regular maintenance of all my power tools I use WD40 Dry Silicon spray, because i've found that it helps with the running of all my tools without leaving any residue. Dry Silicon spray is also great to use on hand tools to keep them protected as well, especially in high humidity areas, because it helps the tools eg Drill bits, chisels etc from rusting.

You should've used a palm hammer to put those hurricane ties.

I have one, but I wanted to use my hammer 🤷♂️

Might have taken less time to predrill nail holes than to hammer them in. 😮 13:41

Sometimes, I think the old-fashioned way works best, even if it is more physically demanding and a bit slower. It also helps me appreciate the rest of my battery powered tools 😄

@@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid What are we to do with you? LOL backwards to the way we do it, oh well, you will get it done no doubt. When looking at that high stuff to do, look at your tractor and the loader,, bit of thought and you will be amazed at what will work. I lifted a roof, into place last summer with mine, 17 feet wide and 7.5 inches deep, complete with OSB 9 feet at highest point I think my Ford is a bit smaller than your Tractor
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Interesting, that would certainly be a sight to see. I do things the best way as I see fit for me to do them by myself. Sometimes that means reverse engineering things and doing it one board at a time 🤷♂️
@hughroney6342Ай бұрын
@@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid Remember that with rope or chains from your Pallet forks, on the back bar you can safely lift things that won't fully sit on the forks wider and deeper, I just had a 5 foot material bucket for that lift.
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Good point! My house sits on 4ft piers, so my roof is actually too tall for me to lift things all the way up to the roof with my tractor though. The front loader has a max reach of 10ft. Of course there is always a way to make things work,but sometimes it's easier for me to brute force it and just carry things myself 😄 I'll definitely be using the tractor to get the osb and metal sheets up there though!
@paulmonk7820Ай бұрын
What was wrong with the OSB size? 14:00
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
I ordered 8 ft OSB and received 9 ft OSB. Waiting to hear back if they are going to be able to swap it out or if I'm going to have to figure out how to use it...
