Mr Shoyan I have been a carpenter for 41 years and consider myself a pretty good carpenter, but watching you I wish I had half the skill that you do.

If you’re also a carpenter in the USA like I am, part of the problem is people choose speed over quality. Many “higher end” builders don’t even want you adding biscuits to door and window casing. Seems like a cultural difference.

@Hertz2laugh18 күн бұрын
Not alien, _less profitable._ The U.S. maximizes for mass production and economies of scale, not for producing quality structures. For rock-bottom final costs to customers, U.S. builders use much sloppier methods.

Man no kidding. I feel like we could count on one hand the companies in the US that could even build something like this lol....

@@Hertz2laughsure doesn't feel like rock bottom price for the customers, more like rock bottom cost to the investors then we get charged like 500k anyways.
@ItsQuave2 күн бұрын
@@Hertz2laugh not necessarily. The Japanese are masters of wood while Americans are the masters of steel, concrete & brick structures. Even residential American houses have superior concrete foundations on average, use more brick & concrete in design. American infrastructure in more stable however Japanese design is neat, clean & legendary in its aesthetic.

You are a one stop shop. You do everything. Here in the states most trades have specialized. A stair builder might build only stairs. Someone that doesn’t specialize might forget about the floor thickness on the ground floor and the second floor causing stumbling. And they only have to buy tools for that specialty. I have built cabinets and trim most of my work career. But when I work on my own house I do it all including plumbing and electrical.

The pride and craftmanship is amazing! YET! Given almost everything made of softwood has a finite lifespan, everything shown will decompose back to the earth. The thing to remember, like drinking a fine bottle of wine, is to respect the man who made it and appreciate his skill and hard work to bring you enjoyment. Everything poured into his projects reflects the dedication to his craft with the eye towards that enjoyment. How many children, adults, and elderly will climb this simple staircase, not hearing a sound, not having a worry, all because of Mr. Shoyan's dedication.
