I'm still waiting for that one time when Doc won't be able to connect the cables in time. The actress who played Jennifer in this movie was recast for the last two films because she had family issues that she needed to take care of. It's not like she left the movie industry with a bad rep or anything. But her commitments to family changed her career path and everyone was super understanding about it. Kinda like how Rick Moranis from the "Honey, we shrunk the kids" movies retired to be a parent and take care of his children.

I don't know if it is still the case).

They put so much thought into them and the acting... just everything is perfect. The funny thing about the car always failing to start... that's a real thing on real DeLoreans. If you were nine to fourteen years old and watching this in 1985 (or so), like I did, not only did you not have the benefit of age and wisdom to guide you through the story, but you also didn't have the experience of having previously watched a lot of movies whose plot lines (cinematography, etc) were influenced by Back to the Future itself. What I'm trying to say is, we had fresh eyeballs and couldn't piece together/predict the story elements like you were able to do so well...so it was just PURE magic and surprise from start to finish. This movie was a blast. On a side note, I used to rank part 3 as the "worst", because it is a little slower, and a little more adult, but the older I get, the more I consider all three to be near flawless motion pictures.

Fun fact: The first time we see the mall parking lot, the mall name was Two Pines Mall. After Marty went back in time, he crashed into one of the two pines of the original owner of the land (before the mall was constructed). And then after he went back to the future, the mall changed its name to be A Lone Pines Mall. That was a nice little detail. Also. If you watched part 2 of the movie, you'll know that Marty basically went to an alternate future where his father is a successful writer and Doc survive the incident. So in other words, Marty's original timeline was still can happened or it was completely erased.

And he knows the language of movies pretty well. Notices details on how shots are done, their purpose, cinematography, story structure etc. Like he's a real fan of movies. Unless he randomly and recently went to film school and discovered an interest in it there, or something. Which is a stretch. Then I have trouble believing these are genuine first time viewings.

When the first movie came out, it was the summer of 1985, so I was 16 at the time. I remember going to see it when it came out, and yes, it was a great movie at that time (as it still is). There were other great movies though, so at the time, this one didn't seem like a groundbreaking movie (to me). It was just a great, fun and entertaining movie. I also remember that about a month after this came out, "Teen Wolf" came out (also a Michael J. Fox movie). Teen Wolf wasn't such a great movie. My friends and I enjoyed it, but when compared to Back to the Future, it is very forgettable. But as great as Back to the Future is on your TV, that's nothing compared to seeing it on the big screen with the movie theater sound.

With regard to movies, I've been lucky to have been born early enough that I was old enough to see some specific movies when they hit the theaters. This movie is one, the Star Trek movies are another example, and the first trilogy of Star Wars. I was 8 when the first movie came out, and I literally saw it in the theater at least 15 to 20 times that summer... all for free, because my sister worked at a theater and family was allowed to come in for free. The Raiders of the Lost Ark were great in the theater too. They should re-release some of those older epics to the theaters. I guarantee that they'd make a lot of money on them.

It still amazes me how many people are still watching this movie for the first time. I remember watching this movie as a kid so many times that I think that I know every single word to that movie. I like the second movie as much as the first, the third not as much. But the first movie definitely is a special childhood memory. The older I get, I discover so many new things that just flew pass me as a kid.

@@BrandonLikesMovies one thing that I did notice and I wonder if that foreshadowed the future Marty was going back on was when Doc was waiting for him to get there. The "Damn where is that kid" scene. Marty gives him the photo and tells him that his Dad has never stood up to Biff a day if his life. And Doc say "Never?" But didn't care about the ramifications of that one action and still let Marty go back. I just really like how there were so many inconsistencies and plot holes but they were like... Eh whatever. Great video but I was kinda expecting you to notice how the situation with young Biff getting George to do his homework is exactly the same as in 1985 at their place of work he still writes Biff's reports and somehow Briff is senior to him. I never thought much of it as a kid, but that idea really makes me sad as I've gotten older, the whole nothing-ever-changes thing.

I still have to watch many classic masterpieces like The Seven Samurai tho. But I always say that if I have the option to either watch Pulp Fiction or Back to the Future again most of the time I would pick the latter because in my opinion it’s such an easy feel good movie that’s always entertaining.
