"Everybody and their mums is packin' round here." "Like who?" "Farmers." "Who else?" "Farmers' mums" The first two people Angel encounters when returning? The farmer and his mum. Every line in this movie pays off. Pure. Genius.

Okay, I can thumbs up this comment in this case. It rarely happens anymore, now I actually just do the opposite, because I just fucking hate that "quoting" trend in comments, that´s been around for way too long by now. But you just put a very interesting and unique personal statement / info at the end and the quotes were just the most relevant for that point to make. So yeah, congrats! You managed to turn me around on my principles this time!

I've watched this film many times, and every time I see something new somewhere (two shooters for the price of one! etc) It's also very rewarding to watch with commentary, they go into a lot of the gags and lines. :) I especially love the whole list of things Danny asks Angel about, like have you ever done X etc, they end up doing all of them. :D

My friends and I consider this to be one of those rare "perfect" films where the story never diminishes, the editing is perfect, the sound is excellent, the acting is spot on for everyone and they truly cared about it. It really makes the film so rewatchable and I love introducing people to it.

Some things neat about this movie not often talked about: A lot of real policemen like this movie because it shows the part cop action movies almost never do, the paperwork. Police have to write up reports for absolutely everything they do and the stuff they pull in movies like Bad Boys would take weeks to go through, so real police who saw Hot Fuzz found it darkly amusing that they make a point of showing that even the badass action man needs to write up reports. Nobody actually dies in the final action beats. Despite the violence and gunfire, all of the people Angel and Danny wade through are alive at the end of it. The way the shotguns on his back are positioned look like angel wings. And lastly, my favorite little detail, the conspiracy theory Angel comes up with initially for the murders is entirely legitimate, it just happens to be wrong. He's completely correct that all of the evidence thus far pointed to it, it's just that it was something much, much more mundane.

Also the fact that the antagonist group acronym is N.W.A a reference to the hip hop group ‘niggas wit attitude’ And Simon Pegg Spent a lot of time sitting down with police officers and going on ride alongs hearing their stories and gripes with the job as well as what they enjoy. A biblical reference that everybody gets wrong because the translation from Latin to English does not hold up very well in modern times. Pale doesn't mean white, pale means weak and sickly. In the book of Revelation, the white horse is ridden by War.

This is a film my friends and I consider to be "perfect". The writing is spot on with every line paying off at some point and is never non-sensical. The editing just enhances the movie and gives it perfect pacing. The sound is wonderfully done and placed. The jokes are just that right level where they are funny, but not too high or low-brow. I'm trying to recall the whole movie, but I don't think there is an overabundance of swearing (they kind of get it out of the way by displaying the swear box with them written down, so they don't have to be said), not that I necessarily care about that, but they're able to make this without it. The actors all clearly care about the film and are putting in great performances that are dramatic, yet funny; witty, yet deep. Going back to the pacing, it ramps up at just the right speed to make you feel satisfied at the end, but it also incorporates enough twists and turns from a normal "whodunnit?!" movie to keep you engaged and guessing until the payoff. It is just so, so good!

100%. One of my favorite things about both this movie and Shaun of the Dead is the fact that, while they're kind of sending up/poking holes in the genres they're tackling, they're also both legitimately good entries into those genres. Shaun is a great zombie movie, and Hot Fuzz is a great action movie. You can tell that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright genuinely love those genres based on how much care they put into writing tongue in cheek satires that are fantastic entries in their own right.

It’s the Angel character arc, and really one of the themes if not the major theme. Just as Danny is changed into a better cop, Angel is changed into Danny’s ideal of a Hollywood cop. Notably, it’s after the fake murder when Angel realizes his by-the-book methods haven’t been effective. That’s also a nice bit if “hero’s journey” plot structure--Angel is transformed through a death experience. This might be pseudo philosophical claptrap, but . . . It makes Angel’s transformation from one type of super cop to the other fantasy type believable, no?

Yeah, it took me a while, to finally get my hands on a copy of World´s End, because I couldn´t find it digitally, I actually bought the DVD back then, which even our local video store, which has been closed for years by now, extra had to order for me. You can probably imagine, it turned out to be the most disappointing one for me of the three. I think I just remembered the toilet scene at the beginning with a smile on my face, but that´s it! Hot Fuzz on the other hand... May very well be the funniest movie ever made for me! I´d put it right next to or rather slightly above stuff like Tropic Thunder or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! And after this, I could never watch Timothy Dalton in ANY other role anymore. I just couldn´t take him seriously anymore, because he did such a fantastic job as Skinner and his German voice actor really did a magnificent job conveying this, too with all his weasel words throughout the movie. Doctor Who sadly proved my right on that, with its series 4 finale...

Simon pegg cowrote the whole trilogy with edgar wright. Their movies are brilliant bc they take what they enjoy from each genre and take them to another level. The use of callbacks, quick montages and dialogue is so detailed and precise. You can see the infancy of this trio's work (nick frost, the bff rounds it out) in their tv show spaced. I think I’m also laughing at the fact that you’re just as amused and confused and surprised at everything that’s happening in all of the same ways that the rest of us were when we first watched it! You’re correct - - Edgar Wright is a freaking genius, the editing is absolutely out of this world, and there’s really no movie like this. A masterpiece of… everything! Oh - and you are no editing slouch yourself! Your editing made it twice as funny. This movie always cracks me up and so did your reactions! Keep up the great work!
