The scene in the basement with burt and his wife is actually a composite, the graboid is a miniature. For a fairly cheesy monster movie it does a lot really well, the relative silence when they approach the building site where the car is underground. Most people would probably say it's horror or science fiction, but at its core it really is just a great tragedy. Just like The Thing it's a re-imagining of a classic science fiction movie from the 50's, but unlike The Thing, The Fly doesn't enjoy the same level of recognition nowadays, despite being much more critically and commercially successful when it was released, but is more of a forgotten gem.

Tremors was basically a throwback to those creature feature movies of the 50s with giant insects and monsters. They wanted to do an updated take on those classic movies but with a comedic edge and modern effects and the first film remains a beloved classic 30 years later as it should be.

Hey Brandon, I have been enjoying a lot of your reactions lately and I just want to suggest if ever you have watched 'Big Trouble in Little China'. You'll highly enjoy it :)

I love this dude. He hasn’t watched so many great movies so it’s great to watch along with him. Some excellent commentary too. Good work sir.

I'm going to second and third this, but with a recommendation for LOCK, STOCK & TWO SMOKING BARRELS first.

Awesome characters and performances, great creature effects, fun but also intense action sequences...been watching this movie for thirty years and it's as fun now as it was the first time. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward have SUCH incredible chemistry in this movie, their relationship really sets the tone for what to expect.

The monster effects really hold up very well after 30 years.

The second movie is actually a decent sequel. The third one is pretty good. After that dont bother

I actually like 4 too though it's more of a prequel than a sequel.

once they started using CGI for the worms they screwed up.

I thought 2 was decent, 3 was terrible, 4 was ok, 5 is an amateurish abomination and I gave up at that point
@toodlescae3 жыл бұрын
I watch all of them just for laughs.

#4 is the *least bad* of the sequels, but that's not saying much.

One of my favourite quirky creature movies, I think this was a bigger hit on VHS and DVD outside the US. The pole vaulting scene is one of the funniest I've seen.

I prefer the desert to the ocean. Thanks, JAWS!

Easily in my top 10 movies of all time. Simple premise, perfect execution with clever camerawork and working around their budget to make effects work/look good. Fun characters, alot of set ups that later pay off. I enjoyed rewatching this movie a few months ago faaar more than I enjoy watching any new marvel movie etc

Tremors 2 is great, 3 is kinda bad, and 4 is my favorite from the "classic" ones.

Some of the lines are so good. "Damn it Val! I'm older and I'm wiser!" Val: "Yeah, well, you're half right."
