"It's nothing special, the plotline is pretty straightforward" the plotline is considered a masterpiece, and the script is taught as such in film schools and film-writing classes. It's straightforward because every future development is accounted with a set up earlier - something extremely difficult to do. Most movies fail miserably with inconsistencies, plot continuity issues, half-done arcs left unresolved, and plot holes, but not this one.

@@milannesic5718 Because this is a work of fiction ? In a good fiction, every scene and dialogue has a purpose. It has to develop the plot, the lore, and/or the characters. That's true for litterally every type of fiction. Having an event that are not connected to anything is purposeless. Real life is purposeless. Fictions are not like real life, which is why we like them so much. I'd add that being straightforward and predictable does not make a fiction bad. As long as it stays consistant and that each scene has a purpose, then it's a good fiction.

Fun fact: in the "Darth vader" scene, the original plan was to have actual Van Halen music playing, but Eddie was the only one who signed off on it, so they improvised. What you're hearing is just Eddie by himself playing a few solo riffs.

🎶 "That's The Power Of Love!" 🎶 Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Billy Zane. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: Writers Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis actually received a fan letter from John DeLorean after the film's release, thanking them for immortalizing his car. Music Enthusiast Fact: The judge who stands up to say that Marty (Michael J. Fox) is "just too darn loud" is actually Huey Lewis, whose songs "The Power Of Love" and "Back In Time" are featured in this movie. Marty's (Michael J. Fox) guitar is a Ibanez black Roadstar II. Small Connection Fact: When Lorraine follows Marty (Michael J. Fox) back to Doc's house, she and Doc exchange an awkward greeting. This marks the only on-screen dialogue that Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson ever have, though they have appeared together in six movies. Historical Fact: Apparently, Ronald Reagan was amused by Doc Brown's (Christopher Lloyd) disbelief that an actor like him could become President, so much so that he had the projectionist stop and replay the scene. He also seemed to enjoy it so much that he even made a direct reference of the film in his 1986 State of the Union address: "As they said in the film Back To The Future (1985), 'Where we're going, we don't need roads.'"

The teacher judging the talent show at the beginning of the film that tells them, "You're just to darn loud," is Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News. And the song Marty's playing is a heavier version of the song "The power of love," which Huey Lewis wrote for this movie. So it was a fun little walk-on part for Huey since it required him to criticize his own song.

An interesting fact about this movie is Michael J Fox was in the middle of filming the tv show Family Ties when they were ready to start filming and they couldn’t get him and they really wanted him. The producers said to start with another actor and if Fox becomes available they will pay for reshoots. The first scene when Marty is walking in Docs lab is just someone on set. It isn’t Fox until you see him under the mess he made. Fox filmed Family Ties during the day and then they drove him over to Back to the Future set while he napped and did night shots then they drove him home for some sleep then back to Family Ties. On the weekends they did the day shots he was in. 7:07 they do a great job at setting up the story and showing the differences at the end. 8:02 the funny thing is she tells the kids all this then when Marty goes back in time he sees it wasn’t all true. 10:19 well if you travel a decent amount of time you will notice changes around you but what Doc is saying is it’s just like driving to a different place.

Great reaction Sophie like always, love this movie its one of my favourites, and the trilogy is a timeless masterpiece. There are a cameo in this one, Huey Lewis and the News provided the song "Back in Time" to the Back to the Future soundtrack, which played during the film's credits. At the beginning of Back to the Future, Huey Lewis took on a nerdy persona in an uncredited cameo as a judge for Battle of the Bands. Marty's band "The Pinheads" played a hard rock cover of Huey Lewis and the News' "Power of Love," but were ironically rejected by Huey Lewis' character. And this was the first film role for Billy Zane While he played a bigger role than a short cameo, Billy Zane made his acting debut as Biff's friend Match in this movie and second. Keep up the good work.

10:15 the point of time travel IS to not feel like any time has passed for you while it did for everything else. What Doc is explaining is that the time machine is able to get you to any time without having to wait a single second. Einstein didn't have to wait in limbo for a few seconds to travel a minute into future. He just did it instantly, and is unaware of it because... Well he's a dog and doesn't understand what time traveling is. XD

The ending about there something needing to be done by Marty's and Jennifer's kids was originally just a joke. When this film was made no-one knew that the film was going to be the phenomenal success that it ultimately was so there were at the time no plans for even one sequel, never mind the two that we would later get. Naturally, when _Back to the Future_ became this big megahit, sequels were inevitable, although the first of them would have to wait for another four years...

The "not being aware of time traveling" has to do with Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity. In this case, there are two frames of reference: one from the time traveler's perspective, and one from the non-traveler. For simplicity's sake, let's say you travel 50 years into the future. The time machine works by opening a "tear" in spacetime. So as Doc says, you (the time traveler) "skip over" those 50 years and arrive in 2073 (50 years from today). So from your frame of reference, you'll see a bright flash and you'll now be in 2073. The trip was instantaneous. From everyone else's frame of reference (those of us who didn't go with you), we'll all have to wait the full 50 years before we "catch up" with you, and we'll then see you arriving in 2073. For you, you only just left 2023. For us, it's been 50 years. What's even more mind boggling is that you'd still be in your early 20s (the same age you were when you left), but all of your friends will be in their 70s!

no the florence nightingale effect is not exactly a hoax...more of a state of mind. it is a trigger that sets a person into a way of thinking and it's hard to change it afterwards. A nurse sees a patient wounded and she feels deeply sorry for him, she mistakes those maturnal protective feelings for love. Some times they can become quite creepy and weird but in this case that is not the way. But make no mistake it has happened in real life as well.

(Heart of rock and roll, Power of love. etc. 3. Eric Stoltz was first cast as Marty, but he didn't play well with others and was fired. Some of his long shots are still in the movie. 4. The flammable material set on fire with the model exercise had to have been put there on purpose. 5. It's always fun to see how people react to the Marty and his mom car scene. 🤣 6. George McFly/Crispin Glover didn't like that the story ended with the family being prosperous. 7. IMVHO part II is the best of the trifecta. 8. If you want a first time/share of an OUTSTANDING movie, if you haven't already, where Christopher Lloyd plays the heavy, you must do "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

Ronald Reagan was President of the USA then. the line about him being President to the 1955 Doc was hysterical, he says "An Actor?!" That line got the biggest laugh from the audience because not everyone liked Reagan as history rewriters would have you believe. Also the rich guy in my area has a car museum and actually has a gray DeLorean...come to think of it, he sort of looks like Doc...that's scary...Also, I'd like to know where this 1955 girl who became his mother was when I was in high school..... I would have liked to take her to the submarine races...When I was a kid the Time Tunnel was a mid 1960's TV series...look it up you might like it. I was expensive to make and only lasted a year. 30 episodes or so.

Bttf is my favorite trilogy of all time. And somehow, your reaction made it even better! Btw, the guy with the 3d glasses is actually credited as "3-D". So you could argue that, because of his name, wearing 3d glasses is his...density

There was no sequel plans. The movie was such a hit that they decided to do 2 more. In interviews they said the car flying off at the end was something they would not have done if they knew there was going to be a BTTF2. This and the Indiana Jones trilogy are the best trilogies ever.

"they're not making it hard to predict the future." Yeah, its kinda like they intentionally sprinkled all the breadcrumbs in the first half of the movie and made absolutely sure nothing went over anyone's head so that later when it comes up, the viewers are like "ooh! Ooh! I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN!" Heheheh. All dry sarcasm aside, some of the best movie scri[ts operate on the art of both plot convenience, and the writers are counting on the viewer actually paying attention. Makes it more fun and engaging.

I was 15 years old kid when it came. At this age you are not analyze. But, take things how they are. A specially 40 years ago, almost. And watching this movie at that time, no one used a word predictable. We just had a great fun.

There was a 3-d movie boom from 1952 to 1954. However it did use polarized 3-d (tinted glasses) not the red and green (cyan) 3-d. I assume they went for the red green glasses because it's more obvious they are 3-d glasses. Polarised would just look like sunglasses. However this approach in movies caused my parents generation to misremember they used polarized 3-d in the 50s. When I saw Jaws 3-d in high school I just assumed the polarized glasses they gave us was a new thing. To be fair they even tried to push it as new around 2010 when 3-d was revived with movies like Avatar. Polarized 3-d has been around since the late 1930s, but was never used on a large scale until the early 1950s boom. What 3d that did come out in the 40s only used the red green, because it requires no special film projector to use it. Why 3-d vhs used it in the 90s and 2000s.

Back to the Future is awesome! The script is absolutely fantastic, the casting is incredible, and the direction by Robert Zemeckis at his finest. The guy was literally Steven Spielberg in his prime back then. By the way, you should definitely check out Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump, both great films by Robert Zemeckis.

Fun fact: Eric Stoltz almost played Marty, but he left the project because him and Robert Zemeckis didn’t see eye to eye on how the movie should be

Your comment about Christopher Lloyd's expressions was right. He just has a perfect face for comedy. You're too young, but I watched one of the best sitcoms on TV when I was a kid, called Taxi. Christopher Lloyd played a drugged-out, but sweet-natured, cabbie among a cast of cabbies in New York. His Jim Ignatowski was one of the best characters ever in a sitcom.
